To sneak a McDonald's into the cinema

Would it be wrong to sneak a big mac and fries into the cinema? I usually just take a bag of sweets and bottle of water. I refuse to pay the cinema prices for food. The film I want to see tomorrow is 3 hours long, plus 30 minutes or so of adverts. It starts at 11.30am. Do you take your own food into the cinema?

Local cinema, not local college cinema!

Connieston · 03/05/2019 20:19

Just don't crackle the papery bits.

ASundayWellSpent · 03/05/2019 20:20

Please don't I love McD too but it will stink the whole cinema out! the person next to me on a flight the other week had a KFC in a bag for two hours then got it out when she was ready for lunch. The whole plane reeked of cooking fat, was rank

MitziK · 03/05/2019 20:20

Don't ruin Endgame any more than it will already be ruined by having loud teenagers/lots of people present/people eating snacks during the movie/getting up and going to the toilet/getting more snacks/etc.

ZippyBungleandGeorge · 03/05/2019 20:21

Go to an everyman cinema and have some nice cinema food! McDs stinks

viques · 03/05/2019 20:22

plus 30minutes of adverts

You do know the adverts are not compulsory don't you?

boringlyboring · 03/05/2019 20:22

IgnoranceIsStrength I wish the one I’d gone to was like yours

The girl next to me just kept pulling noisy food out of her bag, at one point took out the smelliest cheese and onion crisps, and smacked her lips with every bite. I don’t think she closed her mouth to chew once. It was over a week ago and it’s still annoying me.

She was up and down throughout the film, but what made it worse is she just left before the big scene so didn’t even see the whole film!

NancyPickford · 03/05/2019 20:23

If you sat next to me with a smelly McDonalds I would not be impressed. It's so selfish of you. Can you not eat before or afterwards? Why do you need to eat a hot meal during a film?

Cocobeanstalk · 03/05/2019 20:23

The OH has taken Chinese in before Hmm I wasn’t happy but we never sit near anyone.

Passthecherrycoke · 03/05/2019 20:24

Shock at KFC on the plane!

Bambamber · 03/05/2019 20:25

Why can't you take in a sandwich and a packet of crisps or sonething? Why does it have to be something so smelly?

Panda90 · 03/05/2019 20:25

Thanks you are right, it will be annoying for others in cinema so won't do it. I'll eat before or take some cold non smelly snacks.

Bluntness100 · 03/05/2019 20:25

By the time you get in, and get your seat it will be Luke warm at best. It doesn't taste nice like that, so I wouldn't. Eat it before you go in then have some sweets or something with you.

DistanceCall · 03/05/2019 20:25

Bring something in with you, but not a burger, please. It will stink everyone around you. Perhaps something like a cold sandwich or a wrap.

KenAdams · 03/05/2019 20:25

Take something not so smelly with you like a sandwich instead. Some cinemas do chips and hotdogs, you could have that instead.

Hassled · 03/05/2019 20:27

Dear god - the thought of a KFC on a plane - that is rank.

OP - in theory, no issues. In practice - it does smell, and you risk having everyone else in the cinema wanting to kill you.

PuppyMonkey · 03/05/2019 20:29

Is it really a myth that cinemas don’t let you take your own food in? I was brought up to believe they’d tell you off if they caught you.Grin

cushioncovers · 03/05/2019 20:29

Eat it in the car before and take a different snack in to Cinema

Cherrysherbet · 03/05/2019 20:29

Wouldn't a pret sandwich maybe be a better option

Haha! Only on MN!

Orangeballon · 03/05/2019 20:31

Why not take a nice sandwich from M&S or similar? And a lovely cake, yum!

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 03/05/2019 20:32

When my besties were skint, they had one of those unlimited cinema cards which was basically their only entertainment and they used to take their dinner in all the time! I had to have a word when they said they'd taken in chicken fajitas!

I actually do eat at the cinema because I always end up there at odd times, but I don't ever take anything smelly. It's usually a sandwich and coffee, type thing.

EdWinchester · 03/05/2019 20:33

Poor person next to you!

Smelly or noisy food in the cinema is very selfish imo.

Kingoftheroad · 03/05/2019 20:34

I would be furious if you sat next to me and didn’t share it Smile

PamelaX · 03/05/2019 20:34

on behalf of the poor sods going to see the same thing, thank you for listening to sense OP.
