To sneak a McDonald's into the cinema

Would it be wrong to sneak a big mac and fries into the cinema? I usually just take a bag of sweets and bottle of water. I refuse to pay the cinema prices for food. The film I want to see tomorrow is 3 hours long, plus 30 minutes or so of adverts. It starts at 11.30am. Do you take your own food into the cinema?

We quite often get a sandwich from Tesco to eat in cinema if it's teatime.

SihtricsHorseWitnere · 04/05/2019 13:35

OMG, Lipstick, surely a criminal offence there.

GimmeBread · 04/05/2019 13:42

I just can't get worked up about stuff like this. Is sooner smell food than people. Someone behind me at the cinema took their shoes off and my god their feet smelled rank. I just kept telling myself "cheesy nachos. Cheesy nachos"

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 04/05/2019 13:43

Yes! did you know the police won’t enter the cinema without visors, the smell
No Pepper spray though, might set off someone nose

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 04/05/2019 13:53

Next time I'm in McDonalds, I'll hand out a survey asking people on a scale of 1-10 how much they think Maccys smell, how long do they make their chicken last, which is the best smelling fabric softener, what is their opinion on pre cut fruit etc.
Every survey completed will be entered into a prize draw to win a bottle of gin or a crate of Fruit Shoot or a Waitrose Quinoa Salad Pot.

Mumma111 · 04/05/2019 14:07

Personally I think that's really gross taking hot smelly food, I'd be furious if I smelt that. It's bad enough rustling of popcorn from every angle. Three hours isn't end of the world, why can't you eat before or after?

BadLad · 04/05/2019 14:07

I wouldn't take McDonalds in, but I usually get some nachos or something that the cinema sells, and then finish with sweets from Sainsbury.

If I'm annoying a few killjoys with nachos, then all the better. The cinema sells them, so fucking lump it.

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 04/05/2019 14:15

I hope that an odourless lump that doesn’t crunch or cause anyone to gag

BadLad · 04/05/2019 14:20

Three hours isn't end of the world, why can't you eat before or after?

I can, but scoffing/slurping/pigging/troughing/guzzling/munching/gobbling eating snacks make the film more enjoyable.

Sakura7 · 04/05/2019 14:23

I don't think too many people would complain about snacks (and they'd be silly if they did) but a hot meal is a different matter.

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 04/05/2019 14:24

Three hours isn't end of the world, why can't you eat before or after?
Because we want to eat watching the movie.not before, not after, but during
Did I say it’s multiple McDonald’s Me,dp,kids and their mates all with a McDonald’s

SihtricsHorseWitnere · 04/05/2019 14:26

Oh, yeah, chomping! House!

Well, the cinema sells hot meals - nachos, pizzas, hot dogs, so it's obviously not a 'different matter' to them.

Hell some of them sell alcohol, too. OMG, another MN crime, drinking alcohol. Won't someone think of the children?!

Justanothernamechange2 · 04/05/2019 14:27

Depends on youe cinema really. We have two locally.. 1 only really sells sweets popcorn and ice cream so youd stick out like a sore thumb with smelly mcds... the other cinema does hot dogs, nachos, burgers, toasties etc so a mcds would blend in no problem.

BadLad · 04/05/2019 14:29

chomping

Damn. Forgot one.

I don't think too many people would complain about snacks (and they'd be silly if they did) but a hot meal is a different matter.

The main thrust of this thread is the smell of hot food, which is going to spply to hot cinema snacks, such as nachos and hot dogs, just as much as a cheeseburger from McD.

optimisticpessimist01 · 04/05/2019 14:29

YANBU to sneak food into a cinema

However, YABU to take a McDonalds with no ventilation that everyone in the screen will be able to smell very strongly

MrsFoxPlus4 · 04/05/2019 14:30

I honestly hope the OP took a McDonald’s and ignored all the people who told her she’s entitled, selfish and eats stinky food 😂. Iv no idea why it’s so hard to comprehend that she was going to be in there over lunchtime and wanted to take it with her. So what if it was cold? So what if she was eating for sheer enjoyment. You don’t even need to sneak food into a lot of cinemas near me because they sell it 🤦🏻‍♀️

Sakura7 · 04/05/2019 14:38

The big three chains say you can bring snacks but no hot food or alcohol.

metro.co.uk/2017/11/22/youre-allowed-to-take-most-food-and-drinks-into-cinemas-after-all-7100405/

SihtricsHorseWitnere · 04/05/2019 14:42

Yes, Sakura, because they sell the hot food on the premises, hence the statement about hot food not bought on the premises. They want you to buy their nachos, pizza, garlic bread, hotdogs and whatever else they sell, which is not all just popcorn, sweets and drinks.

MrsFoxPlus4 · 04/05/2019 14:42

My local is a Vue cinema whiles I can’t say I notice if they sell alcohol they sell hot food.

SihtricsHorseWitnere · 04/05/2019 14:43

10 lashes with a wet noodle for you, Bad Grin, an odour free noodle you can eat, but make sure you don't slurp or someone from MN will kill you or be scarred for life.

SihtricsHorseWitnere · 04/05/2019 14:46

But Mrs, you're not supposed to buy it and eat it in there! OMG. First you need to ask those around you if your hot dog or nachos offend them (of course, if you have booked seats you can't move if they say yes, but you should immediately get up and bin the food the hot food the cinema sold you, in fact, you should just buy it and throw it in the bin immediately, because it's offensive).

Sakura7 · 04/05/2019 14:48

They don't allow McDonald's though do they, which is the point of the thread.

MrsFoxPlus4 · 04/05/2019 14:49

SihtricsHorseWitnere yes you are the sell it inside the Cinema. At the exact same stand the nachos, popcorn and hot food come from. Not outside at a food court not outside the actual cinema. There are no seating areas to eat the food, it’s not a takeaway it’s simply food to eat during the screening never ever have I bought something and been told “oh you can’t eat in here it’s just for show”

SihtricsHorseWitnere · 04/05/2019 14:49

Whispers . . . maybe the OP wasn't at one of the big 3 chains . . . you know, it's possible. Hmm

MrsFoxPlus4 · 04/05/2019 14:50

Sakura7 Iv also never been stopped when bringing food into the same cinema apposed to buying it.
