Hello everyone, here's thread 2.

I'd be very grateful if someone could do a clicky link to the last one. Still can't figure it out.

Thanks!

Do you honestly think that them wanting privacy will prevent the world's press from broadcasting? Of course there have to be arrangements to corral the press, it would be fucking chaos otherwise.

Is that you, Meghan? 😆

FATEdestiny · 01/05/2019 20:16

Besides, she’s supposed to be giving birth at home

No details are / will be released about the birth aremrangements. That was precisely the point of the press release.

Therefore you/we do not know if it will be a home birth. It's just speculation.

Cookit · 01/05/2019 20:17

*I would go as far to say that the Royal Family have no power.

There truly is no point in a monarchy in this country anymore than to bring in tourism and act as PR with other countries.*

I agree with this but then what is the point of the big box of papers the monarch gets everyday and is supposed to read through and sign? What an utterly pointless job if you know you’re going to agree to or sign everything anyway. Why is it made out like it’s a big responsibility?

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 01/05/2019 20:28

You'd definitely infer from that press release that it was going to be announced when the Duchess went into labour, and that there would be ample opportunity to capture the comings and goings for up to three days after the birth. Doesn't suggest to me that they are trying to keep things private. Which is not a criticism, by the way, just an observation.

I can see what they were trying to do with the statement about their birth plans, but it seems contradictory. Perhaps they meant it to be taken at face value, they weren't going to share details of the actual delivery plan - home or hospital birth, drugs, no drugs, that level of detail.

Whatever, it all points to no baby yet.

Andylion · 01/05/2019 20:30

Setting up two press enclosures open 15 hours a day from the onset of (announced) labour until 3 days after birth does not smack of wanting privacy.

Where are the press enclosures?

I'm not sure what the nature of the papers are that the Queen signs, but I'm fairly sure some sort of provision could be made by the government for someone else to do it!

As much as I loved Diana, I really hope Diana wasn't conducting an affair with Barry Mannakee, he was a married man.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 01/05/2019 20:37

I think it's precisely because the Queen takes such an interest that she has so much paperwork to go through. A less interested monarch could probably get away with doing less.

RubberTreePlant · 01/05/2019 20:42

As much as I loved Diana, I really hope Diana wasn't conducting an affair with Barry Mannakee, he was a married man.

So was Oliver Hoare, and Will Carling.

Even soppy Dodi was engaged and due to married when she started that affair.

AppleKatie · 01/05/2019 20:51

People have read way too much into the press release.

As far as I can see it meant:
‘Don’t camp outside random hospitals upsetting random doctors/nurses/patients’
‘We are not going to give any pre birth details ie no official article of ‘this is the hospital, this is the MW/Doctor etc...’ that w&K did.
‘We will tell you when it all happens and you can have pictures of comings and going’s in the normal way, picture of the baby will come in due course’

All of which seems eminently sensible really and an attempt at managing expectations. There’s this popular assumption that this is just like when w&K had theirs but in royal terms it really isn’t, this baby is a lot further from the throne and therefore the pressure for a public circus should be less.

If they didn’t make accommodations for the press there would be a greater security risk AND they would be criticised for being tight unfriendly bastards. It’s hard for them to win.

ByeClaire · 01/05/2019 20:52

I fear you may unfortunately be very under-informed about dear Diana TracyBeaker Grin

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 01/05/2019 21:16

I know all about Diana's penchant for married/engaged men. Obviously the men should/could have said no.
But it's a bit rich Diana complaining that her own husband was having affairs & then herself going on to help wreck or try & wreck other marriages. The word entitled & two faced comes to mind.

RubberTreePlant · 01/05/2019 21:23

Oh you were being sarcastic?

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 01/05/2019 21:28

No I'm half asleep & forgot about the rest!
Though by 10pm or just after I'm back to bright eyed & bushy tailed.
My body clock/circadian rhythm is completely weird!

NaturalBornWoman · 01/05/2019 21:36

Is that you, Meghan? 😆

No, just someone who thinks that some of the things on this thread are a bit silly and really quite spiteful.

RubberTreePlant · 01/05/2019 21:46

quite spiteful.

Here we go with the misogynistic language.

It's been a really interesting, rambling, good humoured thread.

If you want a punch up go and have one elsewhere.

LaMarschallin · 01/05/2019 21:52

If you want a punch up go and have one elsewhere

Fair point. This has generally been a good-natured thread.
There's an alternative that's getting pretty nasty. If anyone does want to get involved in something more heated I suggest they run, not walk, over there as I feel it can't last long.

Had anybody heard about Edward VII's special sex chair?

MagicKingdomDizzy · 01/05/2019 21:52

RubberTreePlant

It's been a really interesting, rambling, good humoured thread.

Thank you, I agree.

It's been funny, informative and respectful. Certainly compared to most other threads on Mumsnet, especially ones about MM.

Yes Natural you clearly have an agenda, do go away.

RubberTreePlant · 01/05/2019 21:54

Had anybody heard about Edward VII's special sex chair?

You know I think I've seen it. It must have been exhibited somewhere louche.

NaturalBornWoman · 01/05/2019 21:57

If you want a punch up go and have one elsewhere.

Looking at our respective posts I'd definitely say that you are the one with a more combative tone.

ByeClaire · 01/05/2019 21:57

I agree that some of the things said on this thread have been silly - because they were purposefully meant to be. Except my comment about suspecting Prince Charles to be really good at twerking - I stand by that.

MagicKingdomDizzy · 01/05/2019 21:59

LaMarschallin

Yikes, just went to have a look. That thread is going to get pulled in a minute.

And.....sex chair.....?Confused

I don't dare Google it. My searches are already a bit weird because of the threads over the last few days (tossed salad etc). My husband will start getting worried.

ByeClaire · 01/05/2019 22:00

Now please tell me about Edward Vll’s special sex chair.

NaturalBornWoman · 01/05/2019 22:01

Yes Natural you clearly have an agenda, do go away.

Eh? For pointing out that having press arrangements for something which is inevitably going to attract press is just common sense and nothing to do with attention seeking? Jeez.
