Following on from another post ... What do you call the end of a loaf? I've always called it the heal .... Everyone I know calls it a crust... Is there any more?

Crust

topcat2014 · 27/04/2019 21:15

I literally never knew there was a word other than 'crust'.

To me, that word is something like 'window' rather than having any idea it was regional.

AdoraBell · 27/04/2019 21:23

I call it the crust.

We used to eat at a burger restaurant when we lived in Chile, they had old adverts from the USA and one was for crustless bread. It showed a smiling child with the slogan “no poor end slice”

Likethebattle · 27/04/2019 21:24

Scottish and always ‘the outsider’.

OrgasmicScalp · 27/04/2019 21:30

Can't believe no one has said noggin
My family have always called the end on a fresh crusty loaf the noggin
