Following on from another post ... What do you call the end of a loaf? I've always called it the heal .... Everyone I know calls it a crust... Is there any more?

If it’s a normal sliced loaf we just call it the Crust. However, if it’s a French Loaf / Baguette our family call it “ The Bee’s Bum”

Rabbit

You beat me to it.

It is blowing a hoolie outside, I am here Mnetting and having a bit of fun, so if you don't like it NannyRed, channel your inner Dionne Warwick and Walk On By.

Lolly49 · 27/04/2019 16:17

Knobby as well.

Betty777 · 27/04/2019 16:21

Heel here too. Not Irish. Everyone thinks we are weird

KitNCaboodle · 27/04/2019 16:23

A loaf is the crust. The heel if it’s a baguette.

Daysofpearlyspencer · 27/04/2019 16:25

Knobby End

GruciusMalfoy · 27/04/2019 16:27

The Outsider here. The Outsider of a plain loaf (Mother's Pride) toasted and buttered is heavenly.

Neilsfavouritechilli · 27/04/2019 16:28

Nob end

happymummy12345 · 27/04/2019 16:29

I've always called it a heel. Dh calls it a crust, because in his exact words to me "what do you call the bit round the edge of a slice"? Me "crust". Him "exactly, the end pieces are the same as that, so it's the crust". Me "........ we won't go there with what I said".

GreenTulips · 27/04/2019 16:30

Mine! Lovely toasted - kids don’t get much chance unless they’re quick

SilverySurfer · 27/04/2019 16:31

The crusts - because that's what they are.

Therunecaster · 27/04/2019 16:31

The non end

Birdshitbridgegotme · 27/04/2019 16:32

The end of the bread..

MadnessPrevails · 27/04/2019 16:32

The heel or the fat slice.

TooManyPaws · 27/04/2019 16:34

Heel (Scots).

PawPawNoodle · 27/04/2019 16:40

My family have always called them the bum pieces. Never occurred to me that this is weird until reading this thread.

Didyousaysomethingdarling · 27/04/2019 16:43

nobbler

BrokenWing · 27/04/2019 16:47

Outsider, Scottish and never heard of called a heel before.

Cakeisbest · 27/04/2019 16:48

Knobby.

SugarHockeyIcedTea · 27/04/2019 16:48

Heelies

Which is why I was totally bemused at those shoes the kids were wearing, had images of them gliding about on slices of bread!

Corneliawildthing · 27/04/2019 16:48

NE Scotland here - I call it the doup which is what we say for bum!

WTFisThat · 27/04/2019 16:49

Knob end Grin

Teacakeandalatte · 27/04/2019 16:49

Where do all these names like knobby end etc come from? We call it the crust here (S.E).

Poshjock · 27/04/2019 16:54

Heel (East Scot). Glaswegian DH calls it outsider.

huuskymam · 27/04/2019 16:55

I call it the heel. (I'm irish)
