What do you call the ends of your bread?

Following on from another post ... What do you call the end of a loaf? I've always called it the heal .... Everyone I know calls it a crust... Is there any more?

Crust, DH is Canadian and he calls it heel.

Depends...if it's a French stick then it's the nubbins. If it's a normal loaf then crusts

Heel (American raised in Appalachia).

Crusts but my ex (whose family are Irish) called it the heel

My husband's family call it the 'noggie' and it drives me mad.

I call it the nob end 😂

We call it the nobby

As a child, we called in 'the fat bread' but 'heel' as an adult.

But it’s just bread, surely? Is it because it has more crust on it that it has to have a special name?

mine. Cos that's the best bit. With loads of butter and a very light sprinkling of salt

@TheKitchenWitch because some people dont like the end bits but others love them. I fall into the dislike camp-too thick and stodgy
