After the deletion of various threads on here (you know what I'm talking about) Grin

Just wondered what is the most bonkers mumsnet thread you've ever witnessed or came across?

OP posts:
sueelleker · 27/04/2019 17:28

I think that was SoftZilla.

EmeraldShamrock · 27/04/2019 17:29

The user who answered her own thread years later not realising that she had posted the original question - that was funny too. , she still had the same username!
This.
Hilarious, I am glad someone else remembered it, it was a post about travel. To funny. Grin

Waterlemon · 27/04/2019 17:30

There was a celebrity gossip thread that lasted for multiple threads despite the fact that it was so cryptic no one had a clue about what or who was being discussed!

Romanticrights · 27/04/2019 17:31

Balonz!! Just laughed out loud at the thought of it!

StarJumpsandaHalf · 27/04/2019 17:33

Am confused, wasn't the Sistine Screamer the same thread as Snapped and Farted?

IvanaPee · 27/04/2019 17:34

No different thread!

sueelleker · 27/04/2019 17:35

YetAnotherUser
My Mum had a friend who was convinced that eating salad with a pork pie made it a healthy meal. (She was, and remained, rather large)

Butchyrestingface · 27/04/2019 17:37

Snapped and farted thread here:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/mumsnet_classics/3277729-Embarrassed-by-boyfriend

AppleDump · 27/04/2019 17:38

@IggyAce was that the same one were the Spanish Grandma came over to sort it out? who made Sangria from scratch.

It had about 10 threads in the end an suddenly vanished or maybe I deleted it because it got boring

iklboo · 27/04/2019 17:38

Not a thread but a poster that just would not have it that not all babies sleep through at one year old, was calling it abnormal if they didn't & saying it was the parents' fault. Even after several posters put links to renowned clinical studies.

isabellerossignol · 27/04/2019 17:43

There are a lot of competitive undereating threads, competitive overeating threads, competitive cleanliness threads and competitive slovenliness threads, all of which are bonkers.

Bluemascara4 · 27/04/2019 17:48

I remember one that ended up in a #marrytim
onslaught .
The OP troll had a very imaginative story about her DH running off and having children with special needs Hmm

GinUnicorn · 27/04/2019 17:49

There was one poster who had a listed building and tiny budget and wanted to extend up to her neighbours wall - essentially making them semi detached. She was a lawyer and still wouldn’t admit she had no chance. Think the neighbour was threatening to sue. Utterly clueless.

The recent car accident one too.

StarJumpsandaHalf · 27/04/2019 17:54

Thanks Butchyrestingface I had totally conflated the two threads, but only from hearsay really as I hadn't read either, just seen both of them referred to time and time again.

GabsAlot · 27/04/2019 17:59

t-rex in asda is prob my favourite but i do love sistine chapel

softzilla one i think its going through legal channels op said

MoaningMinniee · 27/04/2019 18:02

I've just been looking for the original Balonz thread, which is in Baby Names - but for some reason it can't be displayed right now. Worrying, as it's comic gold and deserves a place in Classics far more than some of the threads that have made it there.

alltoomuchrightnow · 27/04/2019 18:04

Is Balonz really an actual name? It sounds like a great name for dog food

Sweetpea55 · 27/04/2019 18:13

I remember the one where the op had total strangers arrive at her door with suit cases saying that they had come to stay and they wouldnt budge , She said her DH was an policeman or something and would sort them out when he got home,,I dont know how it ended tho.

The one were the OP said her dh ad walked into the room and startled her,,so she screamed,,She thought it was a big deal,,

ScrambledSmegs · 27/04/2019 18:20

Ivana I remember the box of frogs poster - it was amillionyears who was a somewhat dogmatic poster anyway, but completely outdid herself in this instance. I'm pretty sure she was having a really good chuckle about the uproar.

3luckystars · 27/04/2019 18:28

The one where the woman was saying how expensive school holidays were, all the horse riding camps and expensive activities etc.

Then another poster came on: they don't have to be expensive, we just all walk around the place and i give my daughter a loan of my horse if she wants to go riding. (Free)

Skettles · 27/04/2019 18:29

Christ I’ve just read the Balonz thread ... surely that was a wind up? Especially where the OP comes back 3 years later saying her son was one of three Balonzes in the nursery group?? 😂

IvanaPee · 27/04/2019 18:32

@Smegs yes! Amillionyears! I wonder where she went. 😂

Roussette · 27/04/2019 18:33

Another of my favourite ones was Pirate Sex. This poster's DH was getting turned on by talking like a pirate whilst having sex. There was a lot of..
Oooh arrr me hearties
Shiver me timbers etc
Poster was asking if this was normal Grin

Then there was the pouch of Douglas but that was about 110 or 12 years ago and I know I found it funny but can't remember why!

crispysausagerolls · 27/04/2019 18:38

There’s one like the T. rex one where it just makes no sense at all it’s incredible
