After the deletion of various threads on here (you know what I'm talking about) Grin

Just wondered what is the most bonkers mumsnet thread you've ever witnessed or came across?

OP posts:
Skettles · 27/04/2019 18:38

I remember Pirate sex! 😂

MoaningMinniee · 27/04/2019 18:38

Yes @Skettles Balonz was and remains a wind up. But a very very good one.

Pinkcat231 · 27/04/2019 18:39

The person looking for a love spell... Grin

GabsAlot · 27/04/2019 18:40

omg the love spell! what happened in the end

i know she was tying to nick a man off someone

CassandraCross · 27/04/2019 18:41

Rousette I bet that thread was a hoot. Grin.

Bazzill · 27/04/2019 18:42

One where the OP was steaming mad about the neighbours painting their side of the fence, she couldn't actually see it from her house but she wasn't happy. I know that legally if it was her fence she could have refused permission for them to paint it but it just seemed so petty.

Another one where there was some sort of argument between strangers (one of them being the OP) in a public place, and the OP was berated for not offering the other person a creme egg.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 27/04/2019 18:46

Also loved the one were the op lived in a flat in a listed building and had her own private garden, she came home one day to discover the new neighbours had instructed builders to fit tacky pvc patio doors destroying a very old window in the process. The councils heritage people were involved and it was going to cost the neighbours a fortune to put right all because the cf thought they could steal her garden

That one had a follow up thread - it ended very sadly IIRC, with the OP having to rely on the hospitality of a friend because her home became unliveable (dangerously so), the CHs who had caused all the problems disappeared, and nobody official could do anything about it.

It was a couple of years ago now - I don't know if the poster got anything sorted. I do hope so, poor soul. It started of as so much CF fun but rapidly became heartbreaking.

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/3550391-To-think-a-love-spell-could-work?pg=1&order=

And I think the same person posted a second equally odd thread the same day?!

IggyAce · 27/04/2019 18:48

@AppleDump yes that’s the one.

Roussette · 27/04/2019 18:49

Cassandra it was one of those threads that just got to me in a ridiculous way, it was hilarious, I'll try and find it

nicenewdusters · 27/04/2019 18:50

Current thread where the OP is disappointed that her family is "only" having a 2k UK holiday this year, not a 4k one abroad.

A poster came on and said surely they could do a side rustle for 4K, by selling on EBay, match betting, surveys?

What a wonderful world to inhabit where you think people can scrape together 4k in a few days by flogging second hand trainers, beating the odds in betting, and telling some company what hand cream you use. Mind boggling !

FuzzyLilac · 27/04/2019 18:51

Just today.

Social services should be called as there is child neglect... crap dad sends DC home in clothes a bit small. Hmm

CassandraCross · 27/04/2019 18:56

Would be great if you could find it Rousette I am already chuckling at the images that spring to mind!

nicenewdusters · 27/04/2019 18:58

hustle - not rustle !!

namechangedbutneedadvice · 27/04/2019 19:00

Ditto Cassandracross GrinGrin

Roussette · 27/04/2019 19:01

I can't find it, I'm useless. There's been so much pirate talk since, and I've tried just thread titles but that doesn't work. It was very many years ago, maybe up to 10 years ago?!

isabellerossignol · 27/04/2019 19:05

One where the OP was steaming mad about the neighbours painting their side of the fence, she couldn't actually see it from her house but she wasn't happy. I know that legally if it was her fence she could have refused permission for them to paint it but it just seemed so petty.

I remember that one, and I remember the poster and I'm convinced she was a fantasist. She'd be on one thread saying that she hadn't a friend in the world and she was NC with her abusive family, and no one cared about her, she weighed 30 stone and was miserable and people were falling over themselves giving out virtual flowers and hugs. Then the next day she'd be on a different thread under the same name posting about how fortunate she was because she had never had cross words with a friend and her family were so close etc. and she was thin as a whippet and fit as a fiddle. Very strange.

LilouBlue · 27/04/2019 19:06

There was one that I was very invested in and don't know how it ended, I'd love if someone else remembered it! The OP was complaining that her OH had been offered a job but it was overseas and he was planning on buggering off for however long without really discussing it with her. As the thread moved on it turned out it was some sort of sport coaching thing, people were saying it sounded like a massive scam, OP was saying he was convinced it was legit... I don't remember if there was ever a resolution! Anyone help?

CassandraCross · 27/04/2019 19:07

Thanks for trying Rousette.

Roussette · 27/04/2019 19:11

I remember that one Lilou it was a tad strange because the sports thing sounded well dodge

SandAndSea · 27/04/2019 19:12

Another classic for me was WORKzilla. A couple had assumed that the OP would provide free childcare throughout the school holidays because she WORKED!

Mustn't forget the Miss Jolly parking thread. (I can't tell you much more as I've forgotten it!)

And there was one where the OP was upset that she was no longer getting free photos of her child at an activity. The photographer (another mum) had gone professional and started charging for the photos and she was most put out. I think she ignored everyone's advice and said she was going to take her own photos in future.

ooooohbetty · 27/04/2019 19:18

I've thoroughly enjoyed reading the old threads. Thanks to those who've posted the links. Has anyone got the penis beaker link. I've heard it mentioned but have no idea what it's about.

IvanaPee · 27/04/2019 19:21

WORKzilla was made up, wasn’t it?

Or was that the one that started out legit but OP started adding stuff on because people wanted the thread to keep going.

And Miss Jolly’s ended badly because the neighbour ended up assaulting her dh!

Helplessfeeling · 27/04/2019 19:23

There was one about a Jewish fridge that was very funny and a bit mad but apparently it is a real thing!
