After the deletion of various threads on here (you know what I'm talking about) Grin

Just wondered what is the most bonkers mumsnet thread you've ever witnessed or came across?

OP posts:
MrsSpenserGregson · 27/04/2019 16:50

I thought cancel the cheque came from the thread where the childminder had allegedly taken the OPs child to the zoo, and had been paid extra for doing so, but actually hadn't been and had lied about it ...??

That was a good thread. I spend way too much time on here clearly

Valanice1989 · 27/04/2019 16:53

There was a thread about a burglar who had been stabbed and killed by his own knife. Some said that the homeowner had no right to kill the burglar, and others pointed out that you have every right to defend yourself if someone breaks into your home holding a knife.

One poster said, "There are lots of reasons a burglar might carry a knife. It doesn't make them dangerous. They might be carrying it for self-defence against a violent homeowner."

I don't know what part of WhattheFuckville that poster was from, but they have the honour of having posted one of the most insane things I've ever seen on the Internet (which is really saying something).

YetAnotherUser · 27/04/2019 16:53

Think my favourite was one where the poster said healthy eating was a massive con, she had started eating healthy food and wasn't losing any weight.

Turned out she was eating her normal diet and having a salad on top, because salad is healthy, but still not losing weight.

BorisBadunov · 27/04/2019 16:54

MrsSpenser, I think that was a spin-off on the original ‘cancel the cheque’ thread, which was about a wedding present. The CM one came soon thereafter, when ‘cancel the cheque’ was the buzzword.

foreverhanging · 27/04/2019 16:55

Absolutely crying at slithery and t-Rex. Goodness me

Nameusernameuser · 27/04/2019 16:56

Mexican house thief had me laughing for days.
The lady who's neighbours knocked down her wall or built one or something, in her own back garden, her Spanish grandma came over for support.

Most recently, the Mum who posted about her 17 year old not being allowed to go to a midnight cinema viewing, he was going to drive himself home and was more than old enough to be out at that time Grin

redexpat · 27/04/2019 16:58

There was one in the living overseas topic that really sticks out in the memory. Someone was asking if others thought she should go to Copenhagen to live. Her motivation seemed based on her love of The Killing and that she could speak a bit of German. I didnt think she had really thought it through to put it politely.

BruceAndNosh · 27/04/2019 16:58

I'm still reeling from someone today saying they buy toilet brushes in bulk from IKEA and throw them out after one use

BorisBadunov · 27/04/2019 17:00

All jokes aside, the most insane stuff on MN has to do with people having no understanding of child abuse, conflict resolution, and the role of the police.
‘My neighbour won’t walk 15 miles in the snow to get her infant DS books from the public library, WIBU to report her to social services?’
‘My mum keeps leaving texts on my phone saying hello to my son, I’ve told her to stop texting me. Should I report to the police?
‘I don’t like my MiL popping in, should I tell her to FOTTFSOFATFOSM?’
‘My DH did not put the lid back on the peanut butter jar. Should I LTB?’

AlunWynsKnee · 27/04/2019 17:01

The Princess from Tonga and the book thread. That was a special level of batshit.

Blindandfrozen · 27/04/2019 17:01

The one recently who thought line of duty was a true story and then frantically backtracked!

Bluntness100 · 27/04/2019 17:02

What I find more bonkers, is not just the original thread, where someone posts something friggen ludicrous, it's the fact you always get that one poster who says, "yes I understand this you're not unreasonable, I can't believe everyone is being so harsh on you" and simply wants to be their BFF.

You sit there thinking, fuck me, there is more than one of them. 🤣

ALongHardWinter · 27/04/2019 17:04

Has anyone mentioned 'snapped and farted' yet? I still laugh about that one. Grin

Figgygal · 27/04/2019 17:05

Sistine chapel
Mexican house thief
Spangran (also wonder how that ended)
Softzilla was recent it ddescended into legal action of some kind (no idea how that ended)

ALongHardWinter · 27/04/2019 17:06

This sort of thing:- 'My DH told me to shut up. Should I leave the bastard?'.

Butchyrestingface · 27/04/2019 17:06

Sistine chapel

That was the screamer, wasn’t it?

Good times.

dippyeggsandsoldiers · 27/04/2019 17:09

Does anyone have a link to the Sistine chapel one? It made me howl the first time round, I need to read it again 😂

Roussette · 27/04/2019 17:14

What is the TRex one and could anyone link it?!

DustyDustyKeyboard · 27/04/2019 17:14

I'd love to read the one about the window-destroying, garden-nicking, PVC-installing CFs! Has anyone got a link?

elephantoverthehill · 27/04/2019 17:21

There was a funny one about a year ago. OP complained that she had been rejected from a FB meetup type group because she was on too many already. The Op said she was a member of various groups but none of them meet up ones. Then a poster came on to defend the FB group's decision and it transpired that the poster was the administrator for the FB group but was pretending to be some else entirely.

HardAsSnails · 27/04/2019 17:23

Here's the replying to self 3 years later thread:

StarJumpsandaHalf · 27/04/2019 17:24

This one always springs to mind
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/mumsnet_classics/1199928-Was-on-a-train-yesterday-and-a-woman-got-on-with-a-penguin

I thought cancel the cheque came from the thread where the childminder had allegedly taken the OPs child to the zoo, and had been paid extra for doing so, but actually hadn't been and had lied about it ...?? That was a good thread.

That was a trolling thread where the OP came back and admitted it was so. I think the same poster did an outrageous birthday cake thread one too and came back to that to say it was all fake as well.

Cancel the cheque was definitely from the wedding gift complainer thread. Pages of Cancel the Cheque after the OP had already said the bride and groom had cashed it anyhow.

Butchyrestingface · 27/04/2019 17:26

@dippyeggsandsoldiers

Sistene chapel:

bsc · 27/04/2019 17:27

Ooh TONGA! I had forgotten about that one.
I loved the juggling mangos thread Grin
So affronted...

The (nice trolly) thread about only eating certain coloured food on certain days (due to synaesthesia?).

Cod's challenge was a bit bonkerz

WorraLiberty · 27/04/2019 17:28

Most of the ones that spring to mind have already been mentioned.

So I'll go with the thread (which was actually serious) where the OP had eaten 48 Cadbury creme eggs over 2 days, and people were falling over themselves to tell her it was completely normal Shock
