Unpopular opinion but AIBU to think that she is talking rubbish? She was on This Morning showing us all how to wash our face and telling us how bad face wipes are. Apparently they just move make up around your face, which is wrong interesting.
Considering it is basically her job to flog skincare, of course she is going to try and tell everyone to ditch them.
Prepared to be told otherwise but maybe she's just been using the wrong wipes 😁

So surprised by these comments. I think she looks great, her skin always has a lovely glow. And she’s funny, which counts for a lot with me.

Oliversmumsarmy · 27/04/2019 09:07

I wouldn’t buy from Clinique. The only time I have approached the counter and asked a question the woman was so shirty with me.

MarkleSparkle · 27/04/2019 09:08

I’ve found some of her skincare advice good but I can’t warm to her personally. She comes across as really unprofessional sometimes and a drama queen.

IcedPurple · 27/04/2019 10:47

I'm the same age as Hirons and I really don't think she has 'great skin'. Not awful skin, but plenty of my contemporaries have better skin and they haven't had any work done, nor do they even have posh skincare routines.

And while I sometimes read her blog, I can't trust any skincare 'guru' these days because whether or not they say so, they're nearly always promoting products. I used to like Sali Hughes' column in The Guardian, but in the past year or so it's become very obviously advertorial-y. Comments which point this out are instantly deleted. In fact, on today's column, comments are even being pre-moderated, something which The Guardian normally reverses for the most controversial topics, of which I'd hardly think skincare is one.

JaneJeffer · 27/04/2019 11:06

Oliver have you tried Nivea Soft?

Oliversmumsarmy · 27/04/2019 11:07

No it I will try anything

Lottapianos · 27/04/2019 11:15

Those of you saying she looks like shes in her 60s cannot be looking at the same face that I am. I think she looks her age - which is hardly a crime - and I think her skin looks lovely

EntirelyAnonymised · 27/04/2019 11:26

Lotta, MN is populated by Benjamin Buttons, clearly Hmm

Squooosh · 27/04/2019 11:27

I think she looks much better as a brunette rather than a blonde but all those 'gosh, I thought she was 60' comments are just nonsense. You don't have to be one of the beautiful people to work in the beauty industry. Double cleansing is the shizz. Simple and cheap way to make a big difference to congested skin. Wipes are grotty.

Mamaslave18 · 27/04/2019 11:31

I don’t know much about Caroline Hirons but herskin looks fantastic to me. I like Trinny Woodhall for skincare advice and she recommends things for all price ranges.

IcedPurple · 27/04/2019 11:34

I like Trinny Woodhall for skincare advice

I'd be reluctant to take skincare advice from someone who has had so much obvious 'work' done.

TheMarbleFaun · 27/04/2019 11:40

Also, good genes are very important
this

I agree Hmm

I stopped reading about her recommended products when she was being paid to advertise and haven't really gone back. I've always liked a proper wash with a flannel though Smile

Mamaslave18 · 27/04/2019 11:51

Trinny is honest about the work she has done. Botox and fillers can’t give you nice skin though.

Itsautumn · 27/04/2019 12:10

Wipes are awful so I agree with her on that.
I used to like her years ago but the recommendations are so high end now. Her general advice is useful though and she seems very hard working.
I am also surprised by the direction Sali Hughes is going in. That column is just an advertorial now. It’s a shame.

edsheeranpaidmoretaxthanccola · 27/04/2019 12:12

I love Caroline so all you doubters can piss off!

Lottapianos · 27/04/2019 12:18

'Trinny is honest about the work she has done. '

She is, as is Nadine Baggott. I think they both look great , but its very clearly not a natural look. No amount of expensive serum or acid toning will make you look entirely line free at nearly 60!

PCohle · 27/04/2019 12:22

I really like CH. She definitely uses pricier products but she has plenty of cheaper alternatives - the products she was recommending on this morning were all under a £10 weren't they?

I think a lot of the comments about her "skin" are actually veiled criticism of her weight/appearance. I think she looks lovely.

Whizzler · 27/04/2019 12:23

Has Yasmin Le Bon had anything done? She looks as beautiful now as she did back in the 80s but she doesn't look 'done'.

Whizzler · 27/04/2019 12:25

Although I think she's of Iranian heritage so those Persian genes probably help.

ElspethFlashman · 27/04/2019 12:27

In fairness, you couldn't promote pricey products on This Morning. They would have some input in that, it's their show and they know their target audience. If she trotted up with her preferred stuff, she'd have raised some eyebrows.

So I don't think that's really indicative of her price range, which she admits herself is mostly high end.

The ‘good diet is the key’ police are barking up the wrong tree too. Nutrition can only go so far. Obviously malnutrition will show in the skin but a normal or even a moderately poor diet will not give ‘terrible’ skin. Plenty of sports professionals, who have their diets specially planned to the last micro nutrient, suffer with acne and other bog standard skin issues.

SPF & retinol are the only two skincare ingredients scientifically proven via proper rigorous studies (not paid for ‘clinical’ testing by the manufacturers) to actually make a difference in the long term to skin in terms of ‘anti-ageing’. Other ingredients might give short term improvement in look or feel though (or might just give a nice texture).

Avoidance of the sun and not smoking are the two best things any of us can do for our skin, whatever our genetic blessings (or not). Anything else is tinkering around the edges.

Lottapianos · 27/04/2019 12:40

'Has Yasmin Le Bon had anything done? '

No idea, but if she has it's seriously good work. She doesn't look 'done' at all, just youthful and bursting with health

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 27/04/2019 12:43

YLB looked fabulous on CPC, but like she'd had work done at all, a refreshing change.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 27/04/2019 12:44
