Just that really... the last two episodes have been so slow!

OP posts:
Harrison376 · 08/05/2019 06:51

It does feel incredibly rushed. The scene with ghost was absolutely absurd. They’ve said today that it was due to timing constraints.

I am still enjoying it and I thought the long night was pretty epic (once we’d adjusted the settings on the tv so we could actually see what was going on).

The story telling feels like the kind of story I’d write as a child. He said goodbye to his friends and then a dragon got killed and then missandi (sp?) got kidnapped and then ...... there’s no real narrative to it.

crispysausagerolls · 08/05/2019 07:05

Jebuschristchocolatebar

I am wildly optimistic that they filmed alternative endings to avoid the real one leaking! I haven’t watched the leaks but read what happens and I think some of it sounds absurd to the point I can’t believe it tbh

UnPocoLoco2 · 08/05/2019 12:22

@MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig oh I see. Yes I've heard of it but have not watched it.

TrixieFatell · 08/05/2019 16:45

Yep not impressed with that episode at all. If they were that rushed for time they could have cut the shite between Dany and Jon. I’ve always loved Brienne and Jamie but season 2-3 is when they should have slept together, or just before the battle. But it just came across as meh.

And ghost has been by Jon Snow’s side for ever, including lying with him when he had died. Yet nothing, just “here Tormund, look after my dog will ya? There’s pedigree chum in the larder and can you walk him twice a day”.

I was worried they would rush the ending and now they are. It took so many episodes for them to reach kings landing before, yet they were there ASAP.

Loved Bron, and loved the exchange between Tyrion and Varys. That kind of stuff was why I loved this series.

M0reGinPlease · 08/05/2019 23:00

I'm very worried for the last two episodes now. The timelines are all over the shop.

They're going to ruin it aren't they?

Antigon · 09/05/2019 12:46

Probably not the last we see of Ghost then...

Jinglejanglefish · 09/05/2019 12:53

What is the point of bran and the three eyed raven? Sam would've found out about lyanna marrying what's his face and having a baby whether bran had seen it or not. That is the the only thing the three eyed raven has done of any relevance whatsoever.

onceandneveragain · 09/05/2019 13:42

To the yawning snob who derided "it's hardly shakespeare" um....

  • comedy and drama intertwined
  • based on mythologised fake history
  • complex family histories
  • strong characters
  • lots of swearing and sexual references
  • quotable witticisms
  • lots of battles
  • main characters die
  • rape, violence and mutilation
  • cutting edge technology
....it is basically 21st century shakespeare! The whole reason for Shakespeare's popularity was that it was entertainment for the masses- the people spending a tuppence to stand in the stalls and laugh at the fart jokes

If you were in 1603 you'd be the one standing there rolling your eyes at Macbeth and going "well, it's hardly Homer" and so so....

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 09/05/2019 18:14

To the sad idiot that didn’t get my post, I was referring to the horror of the previous poster lamenting our lack of appreciation of the books and only knowing it as a tv series. I think it’s brilliant. 🙄

Mayalready · 09/05/2019 18:24

Plot /filming errors aside...
It has JON SNOW!!
Grin
Be grateful!!

Mordred · 09/05/2019 19:11

Anyone else here sign up to the idea that the ending will show the victor sitting on the Iron Throne, only to pull off his/her face to reveal it's really Arya?

SentientPotato · 09/05/2019 19:17

Jon Snow/Kit Harrington does nothing for me. I'd go so far as to say I think Jon is absolutely useless! I hope he slopes off to the north and that's the last we see of him.

SentientPotato · 09/05/2019 19:19

I absolutely hate how rushed it all feels. Burning questions that have gone on series through series just cannot be answered in two episodes. And what the ever loving fuck is the point of Bran/three eyed raven. Everything that Jojen and Meera Reed went through to get the fool to the original three eyed raven and then he literally does nothing!!!!

ShesABelter · 09/05/2019 19:31

I loved the battle of winterfell. The rest have been boring.

YouTheCat · 10/05/2019 16:51

Ooh Mordred! That would be brilliant.

ScribblyGum · 10/05/2019 17:21

@OrangeFluff couldn’t agree with you more.

I read on Twitter, or it might have been on mn... somewhere on the internet I read “All the best scenes on GoT are just Varys talking to someone in a corridor”. I agreed. I’d like the next two episodes to be at least 25% Varys talking to someone in a corridor, then I'll be happy no matter what else happens.

I'll not be happy if he dies in a corridor mind.

crispysausagerolls · 10/05/2019 19:40

And what the ever loving fuck is the point of Bran/three eyed raven.

Hahahahaha

Twillow · 10/05/2019 20:01

The scorpion things firing crossbows at the dragon can swivel all the way around I think, they don't need to turn the ships. And there were too many of them to dodge - too risky to lose the last dragon.
Sansa worries me. She has betrayed Jon's trust in not keeping his secret, and seems too harsh now.
Jon I think would kill Danaerys if it came to life or death between them, or if his family was threatened. He executed a man in the knight's watch before and there is Ned's motto 'the man who says the sentence should swing the sword' run's in his veins.
I also think we are meant to be wondering if Jaime is going back to Sersei because of love or hate, and if the latter will it be Arya or Jaime that does the deed.
Bran must have another part to play, surely. Does anyone else think he is looking a little malevolent now?

Booboostwo · 10/05/2019 20:28

I think the Night Walkers plot line is still at play. Danny and Jon will clash, she will try to kill him but he will turn into a Night Walker King to start the cycle again. He’s already dead, his name is Snow and he’s more comfortable in the North and there is a dead dragon waiting for him in the sea which he can resurrect and ride to the North.

TwittleBee · 10/05/2019 20:33

Last season was awful too. Both felt so rushed, moving too fast without doing anything clever. And characters appear to no longer be true to themselves too. It's really disheartening to watch now.

But on the flip side, it's made DH and I decide to invest in the audio books with the idea to listen to those together in the evenings.

TwittleBee · 10/05/2019 20:35

Completely agree btw SentientPotato

Merril · 10/05/2019 20:53

Jon Snow didn't say goodbye to Ghost because the CGI is too hard according to the producers.

This season has been one of the worst so far. Totally rushed and they're trying to tie loose ends up in a completely lazy way. The Battle of Winterfell was ridiculous. None of the characters actions or battle plans made sense. Retrofitting Arya so the Melisandre 'prophesied' Arya killing the Night King? Right-o. So all the stuff with Stannis makes even less sense. Euron killing Rhaegal? Whut? That wasn't shocking, that was just stupid. Dany suddenly going 'mad' in a couple of episodes after everything she's been though overseas? GREAT writing 🙄 And the Night King and the white walkers. What were they all about? Built up from the very first scene of Episode 1 as the 'real' threat to Westeros while everyone squabbles over the Iron Throne, they're dispatched in one episode with no explanation.

I'm not holding out much hope for the next two episodes. No wonder D&D are going into hiding.

Jinglejanglefish · 10/05/2019 20:56

Not satisfied with that at all. Especially as dany and Jon spent the entire battle of winterfell pointlessly pissing about on dragons doing FUCK ALL. They could've cut all that CGI.

Merril · 10/05/2019 21:05

@Jinglejanglefish apparently, it was 'more powerful' that way 🙄

At this point, the best thing about this season are the memes making fun of how crap it is.

ScribblyGum · 10/05/2019 22:06

@TwittleBee I’ve listened to the audiobook of GoT. Roy Dotrice (RIP) does an incredible job. He has the world record for highest number of different accents performed by the same narrator. I enjoyed most of his narration however he made the Lannisters Welsh which was, er, disconcerting.
The men of the Vale are Welsh and that’s final
