For things that are agreed as gospel on MN

I'll start: I like dressing my kids in matching outfits and I really enjoy a Butlins holiday

I also don't think Nevaeh is that bad

If you are always looking forward to wine o clock and your solution to stress is to open the wine or pour a gin, because you need it to unwind then the chances are you have an alcohol problem.

It seems like people are always recommending "pour yourself a drink" as a way to cope with problems. Makes me cringe.

Breastfeeding a 4 year old is completely unnecessary in this country. You're going to have to stop some time you know.

amandacarnet · 23/04/2019 07:12

Breastfeeding a four year old is unnecessary. We do lots of things with our kids that are unnecessary because they enjoy it.

That people can have differing opinions and both be correct. That life is shades of grey. That there is rarely one “right” answer. That it often doesn’t matter in the bigger scheme of things.

That it’s ok to question “science”. That no one has all the answers.

That someone driving really badly might be having a bad day.

That women’s instincts are usually right with men cheating.

JuniorAsparagus · 23/04/2019 07:15

Thinking about what class you are is a sign of insecurity.

amandacarnet · 23/04/2019 07:17

People who think class does not matter are either privileged or not very bright.

People who say ethnicity does not matter are either white or not very bright.

longwayoff · 23/04/2019 07:25

I really don't mind being fat. The rest of the world does mind it though and is full of people who want to show me how wrong I am.

TheFairyCaravan · 23/04/2019 07:28

Children thrive on routine and boundaries

It's not difficult, illness and disability aside, to keep your house clean and tidy. It's not fair to your children if they have to live in a shit tip.

The job of a SAHP or someone on Mat leave isn't just to look after the children. There's enough hours in the day to do a bit of housework and crack on with the dinner, too

I don't get all the angst about laundry and laundry mountains on here. It's not like we have to trek down to the river and rub stains out with a rock. It takes minutes to put the machine on.

If you think people can't tell you haven't ironed your clothes, you're mistaken.

Not changing your bed for a fortnight or more is grim.

Roussette · 23/04/2019 07:36

Male DJs on Radio 2 are better than female ones. Fed up with Jo Whiley, Sara Cox, and Zoe Ball. They don't have the banter like Simon Mayo AFAIC

Ditto rugby commentators.

Also hate womens football and rugby.

All of this is just my opinion of course

moomin4071 · 23/04/2019 07:38

I think Michael Buble is shit

Ithinkmycatisevil · 23/04/2019 07:39

It's impossible to be a healthy vegan.

Drogosnextwife · 23/04/2019 07:48

Strip clubs are not just somewhere we should expect men to go to on a stag do, they are seedy disgusting places and it IS NOT the same as male strippers, although can't see the appeal of that either.

Children don't need to be sheltered from everything, it's completely normal for them to witness their parents and others arguing.

Teachers are not saints, they are normal people and they do make mistakes, sometimes big ones and sometimes they need to be called out.

Drogosnextwife · 23/04/2019 07:56

It is not easy to just retrain for a higher paid job, even if you do there is no guarantee you will get a higher paying job.

The spelling and grammar police are arseholes, who as far as I'm concerned, have lost the battle as soon as they correct someone. There are sometimes reasons for mistakes, get over if FFS!

Mammylamb · 23/04/2019 07:57

Terry, your post is exactly why I don’t support abortion being outlawed.

It’s also not up to me to enforce my morals on other people

Ringdonna · 23/04/2019 07:59

All women’s sport is shite, boring and sub standard.

Drogosnextwife · 23/04/2019 08:01

Female comedians are not funny, including French and Saunders

Agreed, as much as I want to like them, I struggle.

AlaskanOilBaron · 23/04/2019 08:02

I actually quite like these threads.

A 16 year old is not old enough or mature enough to be having sex. I don't care if you say you moved out and were working and paying a mortgage at 16. 16 is still a child and you should be parenting your child.

This, yes, 100%, as the owner of a 16 year old. He is not old enough to have sex and if he chooses to have sex, it's out of my hands but it won't be in his bed.

AlaskanOilBaron · 23/04/2019 08:03

And yes abortions are not a big deal. I don't know why people insist that they have to be traumatic.

Ghanagirl · 23/04/2019 08:03

There’s no such thing as “The race card”

InspectorClouseauMNdivision · 23/04/2019 08:03

The knife crime amongst young people is mainly their parent's fault. If you brought up your child that they think it's ok to carry a knife and use it, you are NOT a good parent at all. 🤷‍♀️

AlaskanOilBaron · 23/04/2019 08:04

Totally agree with FairyCaravan, except for the part about ironing. Honestly, no one cares!

Drogosnextwife · 23/04/2019 08:05

Giving your baby formula is fine, in the long term it make no difference.

thiscannotbenormal · 23/04/2019 08:06

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are TACKY as hell.

Prequelle · 23/04/2019 08:07

Most people who are fat are fat because they eat too much because they like food not because they're unwell or have an addiction.

thiscannotbenormal · 23/04/2019 08:09

Britain is a lot more racist a country than people like to admit

WillGymForPizza · 23/04/2019 08:10

Liverpool is a far nicer city than Manchester. Better night life as well!

I don't like school uniforms, and really hate how anal many schools in the UK becoming about them. Most of the rest of the world manages to educate their children perfectly well without them. We are slowly eroding our children of their indeviduality by forcing them all to look the same as each other. See also telling them how they can have their hair, how much make up they can wear etc.
