For things that are agreed as gospel on MN

I'll start: I like dressing my kids in matching outfits and I really enjoy a Butlins holiday

I also don't think Nevaeh is that bad

50/50 custody is a bad idea. Children should have 1 primary home to feel secure.

This x100.

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 22/04/2019 23:20

I think that the PTA and brown nosers kids who get play parts, big stall etc are learning that one uses money & toadying to mask inadequacy
They grow up,go to work uni and are brown noses there too

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 22/04/2019 23:22

I don’t invite children who are mean to my kids to their party, why would I?

ReadWriteDraw · 22/04/2019 23:24

So many..

Proper skincare (retinol, peptides, glycolic etc) DOES make a difference. On mumsnet you’re stupid and vain if you use anything else other than soap and water.

The whole bottle/breast debate. Zzzz. By the time your baby is a teenager you won’t care how you fed them.

Slings are not the answer to all baby related problems and co sleeping is rubbish. You get a sore neck and can’t sleep for worrying that you’ve accidentally squashed your baby.

Woofbloodywoof · 22/04/2019 23:24

Cosmetic surgery to make yourself look younger is basically worse than leaving your wrinkles as they are. It screams that you are ageing but insecure and vain with it, when you could just be ageing.

LTB comes up way too much on this site. Either partner could have been having a bad day. If every time your partner acted like a wanker you were to leave or threaten to leave the divorce rate would skyrocket.

darkriver19886 · 22/04/2019 23:28

Birth parents don't always get 'plenty of support" before a child is removed.

Going for walks/joining a club or volunteering as a suggestion regarding mental health shows people don't always understand how mental health affects you. Lots of people can't do these things.

IVF shouldn't be on the NHS and more money needs to be put into mental health.

Smoking IS a choice and you are selfish to keep doing it.

CamillafromCobham · 22/04/2019 23:29

No one should be paid to be a “carer” for their own child.

Not all bankers are C*nts and should be in jail.

A statistically significant number of posters on mumsnet have a child with SEN or themselves suffer from mental health issues.

No one should look to the taxpayer to fund their lifestyles long term as opposed to a short term safety net.

The Americans have the right idea when it comes to welfare although not when it come to healthcare.

Game of Thrones is dire. Cod history meets the Hobbit.

I’ve never thought Kevin from Strictly was a charming underdog I’ve always thought he was a loathsome smug little squit.

Toast dresses look like mortuary gowns.

Langrish · 22/04/2019 23:31

Sorry, haven’t trawled through, possibly (probably Grin) a repeat.
Some children are just not very nice.

TatianaLarina · 22/04/2019 23:33

Nevaeh is not pronounced Naveyah as the letters are in the wrong order.

It’s Never eh?

lazymare · 22/04/2019 23:36

We don't need d before dog as in ddog. It is particularly irritating.

TatianaLarina · 22/04/2019 23:37

All dogs smell. Even yours. You’ve just got used to it.

JustOneShadeOfGrey · 22/04/2019 23:39

Tattoos are ugly.

Using the word “controlling” for DC (ie “control your child”) is wrong.

Adoption is fucking hard work and not a romantic dream.

Autism is a real condition and not everybody is “on the spectrum”.

Obese people have only themselves to blame (I’m included in that).

Obesity is not a disability (see above) and should not give a person the right to DLA and blue badge parking.

My dog sleeps with me.

Children shouldn’t be wrapped in cotton wool.

Calling the police because a child swears or is 12 and curious about willies or boobs should be the crime!

Teachers aren’t always right.

Nickpan · 22/04/2019 23:42

It's not that big a deal, if you have red wine when you 'should' be having white, drink what you bladdy want.
And mint sauce can go on any meal you like.

NettleGreen · 22/04/2019 23:43

Fleabag is not a brilliantly bleak, black comic portrait of the modern woman, more a hackneyed mashup of Bridget Jones and miscarriage jokes with a few arch remarks to camera thrown in.

Oakenbeach · 22/04/2019 23:43

It’s normal to spend £200 pw on the grocery shop.

Ghanagirl · 22/04/2019 23:45

@PumpkinPie2016

A roast chicken will not feed a family for a week grin
God yes this, four of us and we might have enough left for one chicken sandwich if preteen DS is not his usual ravenous self.

Oakenbeach · 22/04/2019 23:45

I don’t help out at my local foodbank.

JanMeyer · 22/04/2019 23:45

A statistically significant number of posters on mumsnet have a child with SEN or themselves suffer from mental health issues.

How is that an unpopular opinion? And what's your point exactly? Mumsnet probably attracts parents of kids with SN/SEN because it can be isolating having a disabled child and difficult if not impossible to have friends in real life, especially friends who understand such things.

No one should be paid to be a “carer” for their own child.

Really, even when that child is an adult and having the state take care of them would cost a small fortune? Certainly more than the measly £60 odd a week that carer's allowance is. And why put carer in quotation marks like that? Do you somehow think taking care of a disabled child is not real work? Because it's nothing like taking care of an NT or non-disabled child. You really begrudge parents who are forced to give up work (often because of the LA's failure to provide an appopriate school place) a measly £60 odd a week?

No one should look to the taxpayer to fund their lifestyles long term as opposed to a short term safety net.

Well aren't you delightful. Really, nobody? So what do you suggest sick and disabled people who are unable to work do then?

Oakenbeach · 22/04/2019 23:47

It’s unreasonable to expect all dogs to come to heal immediately on command.

Oakenbeach · 22/04/2019 23:50

@JanMeyer

Are you missing the point of this thread, or am I missing your point at not getting your parody?!

MariaNovella · 22/04/2019 23:51

Facial skin does not respond well to a huge cocktail of products. Less is more when it comes to skin.

Ewitsahooman · 22/04/2019 23:51

No one should be paid to be a “carer” for their own child

Yes they should. Caring for a disabled child is hard fucking work and it can impact severely on your own career/income, Carers Allowance costs the government far less than paying for professional carers (a maximum of £66p/wk as opposed to a minimum of £8.21 p/hr) and provides additional income to someone who is indefinitely curtailing their own income/career due to caring commitments.
