What do you call the thing you use to change TV channels?

I've just watched Tenable and the thing I thought it was called didn't make the top ten of names.

I'm honestly, genuinely shocked. I thought it was really common and would be the most obvious answer.

My mum called it 'the flat controller'

I normally call it the remote but my dad calls it the doofer!

Myself and my brother and sisters all call the remote the doofer! 😁

405 responses and nobody calls it what me and my sisters do! Our husbands have told us for years we are odd but we never believed them, thought it was totally logical. Can’t really put it up as it’ll be very outing.

We call it the Scotty (as in, "beam me up Scotty"). When we met my husband said it was weird and I said, "no, loads of people call it that". Not on this thread it seems

If they don't allow "remote", then I think ours would be the "doodad".

My dad used to call it the doofer, I always assumed it was a name he’d made up! I was very surprised to see it at the top of the Tenable board

Most get called the remote however the virgin remote gets called the peanut due to its shape.
