To ask what's your 'go too' takeaway from the chipper?

Following on from the thread where the poster asked if she should get a takeaway from the chipper in a Friday, what's your usual go too takeaway?

Either battered sausage or a quarter pounder with cheese for me, sometimes with a portion of onion rings, except for Supermacs (Irish chipper) when it'll always be a chicken fillet sandwich.

ALWAYS a garlic and cheese chip, regardless of what chipper I go to. I think that might be just an Irish thing though? Not quite sure.

Either haggis or king rib supper

Was in a chipper in York last week and asked for a steak pie supper.

The guy rang it up and asked if I wanted anything else. I said no thanks, he said “you don’t want chips with it?” I hadn’t realised “supper” was a regional thing. 😆

Chipper here in Dublin. Has to be a junior box with a breast. That is a breaded chicken breast and chips. A portion of chips on its own is called a Single.
A chippy is a carpenter and a fish shop is somewhere you buy live fish for an aquarium, a fishmonger is for fish already dead!

bakedbeanzontoast · 13/04/2019 15:32

Broon sauce, battered sausage supper.

Or a fritter roll with of course, broon sauce.

I'm Scottish 😊 but like vinegar too if I'm in England.

bakedbeanzontoast · 13/04/2019 15:33

Or maybe a fried half pizza...so nasty so goood!!

PeachyPrincess · 13/04/2019 15:36

I thought it was the law to only get fish and chips!

CatWhisker · 13/04/2019 15:38

Fish cake and chips

Pk37 · 13/04/2019 15:39

Large cod shared between dh and I , large chips between 3 of us , a saveloy , tons of salt and vinegar and curry sauce.
Dd has saveloy.
Chippy here, Chipper sounds odd

pinkpanther84 · 13/04/2019 15:41

Jumbo sausage, chips, curry sauce and lots of salt and vinegar, yum!

happyhillock · 13/04/2019 15:44

Haddock and chips with salt vinegar and brown sauce.

Streely · 13/04/2019 15:46

Cod & chips, with a gherkin and pickled onion.

Haven’t been to a chippy in years, though.

UnhealthySugarOverload · 13/04/2019 15:48

Mock chop, king rib or white pudding supper from the chipper (NE Scotland) 🤤

smurfy2015 · 13/04/2019 15:49

Nearest chipper my order is normally a Tasty Box
Chicken balls x 3
spring rolls x 2
sausage x 1
ribs x 2
onion rings x 3
on a bed of chips covered in BBQ sauce (can also have curry or gravy) with a pint of milk

Mid way chipper - going past the nearest one but not as far as the best one - Massive fresh cod in beer batter with fresh cut chips (cut when the order is made) - its hectic in there, can watch them cut and put to fry

The best chipper in the area, Chicken fillet snack box (with chips) with chicken gravy (to dip) or coleslaw with a large banana milkshake to wash it down

I love my grub Smile

SrSteveOskowski · 13/04/2019 15:49

@Pk37, chippy sounds really weird to me Grin

White pudding supper from the chipper. With potato fritters. And red kola.

RomanyQueen1 · 13/04/2019 15:58

I came on to find out what a chipper was Grin

Steak Pie, Chips, mushy peas and gravy, or a pie on a barm.

ellendegeneres · 13/04/2019 16:01

I think you’re all mean. I can’t be arsed to go out and get mine, I want a fish supper now. My local (a bus ride away) does the most ridiculous portions my other half had to beg them to lower their portion sizes when he goes in 😂😂
I always get cod bites (they’re massive!) chips and curry sauce. Salt, no vinegar

YesQueen · 13/04/2019 16:07

Chip barm, dripping in butter and mayo
Scraps with salt and vinegar

Pk37 · 13/04/2019 16:10

@SrSteveOskowski I bet it does 😆

BarbaraofSevillle · 13/04/2019 16:12

Most of the chip shops near me sell only haddock, chips, fishcakes (proper ones not the crappy mash and breadcrumb type) scallops (potato not shellfish), sausage, chips and mushy peas and curry sauce, so most of you with your pizza and burgers etc would be disappointed.

I get fish, chips and either peas or curry sauce and add ketchup and a slice of buttered white bread at home and save half for the next day as the portion is so massive and I'd rather have a normal size meal twice than stuff myself so I feel sick.

JuneFromBethesda · 13/04/2019 16:21

I’ve never tried curry sauce from the fish & chip shop but seriously considering it now

cricketmum84 · 13/04/2019 16:22

@GimmeBread if you can get to a home bargains, farmfoods or Iceland have a look for the mayflower curry sauce. It's a powder that you add water to and simmer. Absolutely bloody gorgeous!

Geillis · 13/04/2019 16:26

@OhDearGodLookAtThisMess yes, of course, we must all be massive because we all obviously eat this at every meal. 🙄

jaseyraex · 13/04/2019 16:27

Chippy here in Glasgow! I like a battered hamburger supper, lots of salt and vinegar and of course some pickles on the side.

scratchyfluffface · 13/04/2019 16:28

Large cod or steak and kidney pie, small chips and curry sauce
