To have cancelled and refunded this?

I have an online shop. Message below from a customer.

I cancelled and refunded her as I am obviously too stupid to post her item!! Cheeky Cow! Angry

Hi there. I'm ordering this for a master's degree project and would appreciate the most expedited shipping I can afford. Not that you could possibly know what that is, but I'm willing to pay a bit more to get it sooner if that's at all possible. Thanks!

Gollum and Harry Potter.

This thread is making my morning!! 😂😂😂

kaldefotter · 08/04/2019 10:36

Oh dear, OP. I agree with others that you’ve misunderstood the message. You really should get in touch with her about shipping options, and see if you can salvage this. How embarrassing.

Devonishome1 · 08/04/2019 10:36

😆

DuckbilledSplatterPuff · 08/04/2019 10:37

Sorry. You misread her. She was asking you what your rates were for a faster delivery and was prepared to pay if it was within her budget. She was trying to tell you it was for a good reason and that she had a deadline.

thecatsthecats · 08/04/2019 10:37

I really do think it was pretty stupid of Sauron to make just the one horcrux though.

SquishyFishy · 08/04/2019 10:38

What a bizarre but hilarious thread!

OP, what a daft mistake to make!

Love it!

hammylehamster · 08/04/2019 10:39

Brilliant 😂

whitesoxx · 08/04/2019 10:39

Wtf?!

You cancelled her order because she wanted postage options?

Hmm, great head for business there Confused

Angeladelight · 08/04/2019 10:40

Yep I think you were a bit quick to be offended. I’m going to presume person is either young or English isn’t their first language as it is an odd way of phrasing it.

PurpleFlower1983 · 08/04/2019 10:40

Oh dear OP this is hilarious! I hope the poor girl gets her item elsewhere! You have completely misunderstood what she meant. Grin

Tomtontom · 08/04/2019 10:41

Now you've realised your mistake, I'd be replying with an apology for misreading, and if she'd like to reorder you'll send it out expedited and cover the additional cost yourself.

Anything else and the buyer would be more than entitled to leave you a scathing review on every social media source she can think of.

Snowflakes1122 · 08/04/2019 10:41

Whoops!! You got a little hasty there, OP Grin

She didn’t say anything mean or insulting, but you interpreted it that way!

GreatDuckCookery · 08/04/2019 10:42

Eliza9919 are you always so pleasant? Confused it’s fairly likely that English isn’t this woman’s first language.

Do you still think she deserves this treatment and to be called snooty?

Redglitter · 08/04/2019 10:42

Yes YABU. You've misread what she said but that aside isn't cancelling her order cutting off your nose to spite your face?

Even if you didn't like her attitude shes a paying customer

Giddyuppp · 08/04/2019 10:43

Oh dear, poor uni student. I hope they were able to get whatever it was elsewhere given they need it quickly.

gottastopeatingchocolate · 08/04/2019 10:43

OP, this is fixable if you have just cancelled without saying anything specific.

Look up the costs of quicker postage as requested.

Send a message along the lines of "Dear Customer, thanks for your message. I have cancelled the current order so that you can reorder with the appropriate postage costs - here are the options".

Snowflakes1122 · 08/04/2019 10:43

You could still turn this around though. Just message her saying you cancelled so she can buy again paying the ££ extra for expedited shipping?

DarlingNikita · 08/04/2019 10:44

You've massively misunderstood and jumped down her throat. She means that you couldn't possibly know what her budget is. She could have been clearer, granted, and said e.g. 'I can pay up to £x in postage'.

Perhaps be less quick to get offended before you lose any more custom.

AutumnNymph · 08/04/2019 10:48

I don't watch that shit. I hate Harry Potter. Haven't read the books and managed to avoid most of the films.

Dying with laughter here. This thread has made my Monday morning so much better! Grin Grin Grin Grin

northerngirl2012 · 08/04/2019 10:48

Do what gottastopeatingchocolate has suggested, good idea. Easily remedied. Or claim it was someone else that sent the message!

bigKiteFlying · 08/04/2019 10:48

I think that they were just asking for a list of quicker shipping charges.

Not sure what there is to take offense at.

Could you not get back in touch with such a list and ask her to re-order with her preferred option and expected delivery times?

nauticant · 08/04/2019 10:48

You've got this one completely wrong OP. In your shoes I'd send a very apologetic message asking whether you might still be able to provide the item to her.

I sell stuff online, small scale, and I rejoice when I see messages like the one you received. It usually means a very happy customer when I comply.
