I have an online shop. Message below from a customer.

I cancelled and refunded her as I am obviously too stupid to post her item!! Cheeky Cow! Angry

Hi there. I'm ordering this for a master's degree project and would appreciate the most expedited shipping I can afford. Not that you could possibly know what that is, but I'm willing to pay a bit more to get it sooner if that's at all possible. Thanks!

Yeah, you've misread that OP, maybe a bit of inverse snobbery at play?

She's telling you it's for her masters project (important) so she wants it as quickly as possible, but at a price she can afford (which you can't possibly know as you don't know her spending limitations)

I gather you've read it as 'I am doing my masters (therefore I am incredibly clever, cleverer than you) and want my item expedited (except you won't know what that means because I'm cleverer than you and using fancy words.

I'd be apologising and helping the poor woman out!

Poor girl. She needs this urgently, and you've removed the chance of her getting the item at all.

Assuming you haven't sent an arsey message I would say that due to a computer glitch she needs to reorder the item and you will pay for the quickest delivery you can free of charge as a gesture of goodwill for the inconvenience.

If you have sent an arsey message you need to apologise for the misunderstanding and offer a discount.

I read it that she means you dont know what her budget is but give her some options.

I wonder if you can reinstate the order OP? And just front it out by saying “Whoops, sorry, accidentally cancelled your order, here are the shipping options, please pick one.”

The poor customer will be scratching their head just now.

She probably means she wants it posting the quickest way possible...and you don't know what that way is or the cost is until you check at the post office

But whatever it is she is willing to pay

Hmm why would you refund it when she obviously wants to buy it so much she wants to pay whatever it costs to get it to her...

I also don’t understand the objection to sending the item because someone thinks you’re stupid. Who cares? Take their money and put it in your bank account. Their opinion of you is irrelevant in business.

You have completely misunderstood this and lost a customer in the meantime. I would apologise to her, say it was an error on your part and send the item ASAP. Poor person.

Yes she was merely saying that she wanted it done as quickly as possible within her budget but that it was difficult for you to know what that is

Given that she is clearly desperate for the item there is only one person who was being cheeky and that overreacting and that was you

Its interesting that you read it took that meaning and reacted rather than rereading it and see the true meaning
