After reading another thread it made me wonder? And do you consider which one to wear or like me grab the nearest one? I have a lot but tbh I don’t have a favourite. Gifts for birthday, Christmas, valentines. They all smell lovely but it’s always the nearest which gets used!

I'm guessing but about 40 full bottles, and 60 samples/10ml bottles

YesQueen · 07/04/2019 12:23

Part of my collection!

I have eight. I tend only to wear the one though Blush

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 07/04/2019 12:26

I’ve got about 12 plus numerous samples. I love Chanel and have No.5, Coco, Cuir de Russie and Sycomore. Also love Les Artisan Parfumeurs and was given some scents by someone who used to sell their products. Finishing up a Guerlain Champs Elysees at the moment and not buying any new ones till I’ve finished some oldies.

PerfumeNameChange · 07/04/2019 12:28

Further update, I’ve been and counted and I currently have 122 Blush

  1. One for summer, one for winter and one for weather that is in between. It’s all good quality though and I only apply a little bit so it doesn’t have the face full of smell effect (I hate that too).
maddening · 07/04/2019 12:31

My fave is dior j'adore in joy

keenwasalad · 07/04/2019 12:34

Perfumenamechange please can we have a photo of your hoard? Grin. And if you had to narrow it down (oh the horror) to say.... two fragrances, which would they be?

Lost5stone · 07/04/2019 12:34
  1. A summer one and one that I wear special occasions or at winter. One in the drawer for when I run out. I don't have drawer space for more and not keen on clutter

About 10: Amarige, Arpege, Dioressence, Mitsouko, Fidji, Vent Vert, Shalimar, Samsara, Jolie Madame, Paul Smith Extreme, Tresor, Je Reviens and Ma Griffe. The last 3 were gifts that I ought to give away because they smell proper rank on me.

I get really hacked off because they've changed the formulation of a lot of classic perfumes. The current Mitsouko is nowhere near as nice as the bottle I bought in the late 90s, and I have to put it on hours before I go out for a slightly weird, astringent note to wear off. The recent purchase of Vent Vert is much more citrussy than the ones I bought last century and present day Arpege is nothing like the old one.

I'm dreading running out of Fidji, as it's one of my favourites and I'm sure that it won't be the same when I buy some more.

I've almost given up trying modern perfumes. There seems to be something in them that smells sickly, like cheap sweets, or very synthetic on my skin. The Paul Smith was a big surprise. I liked it on a friend, tried it expecting it to smell vile on me, and while it smelled different on my skin, it smelled nice and old-fashioned, with that slightly powdery, orris root smell.

If anyone knows of a perfume that smells like Prada's Infusion d'Iris but lasts more than about 30 minutes, I'd love to hear about it.

CountFosco · 07/04/2019 12:47

I find them prohibitively expensive - surely a 40 bottle collection is worth around £4k?

If you have 40 bottles you'll have everything from cheap as chips EdT (my cheapest FB is Yardley April Violets) to eye watering EdP (my most expensive perfume is Zoologist Hummingbird with a lot of not so expensive perfumes, e.g. SJP Lovely is highly rated, very popular and easy to pick up for under £20. End of line perfumes can be lovely but very cheap to pick up. I have 100s of samples but about 20-30 full bottles and I've only paid full price for two or three.

keenwasalad · 07/04/2019 12:53

Countfosco that hummingbird sounds delicious!

IfNotNowThenWhy · 07/04/2019 12:57

I think my favourite ever perfume (on me) is JPG Classique EDT. It can be got quite cheap but it's just yummy. The ginger note is quite clear on me, and there's mimosa I think and honeysuckle maybe?
I'm not sure I get having a seperate wedding perfume. I think I would wear one of my favourites.

IfNotNowThenWhy · 07/04/2019 12:58

That's sad Lakie Mitsouko is/ was gorgeous.

CryptoFascist · 07/04/2019 12:59

About 10, most of them a bit too heavy for during the day and I don't go out much at night so they don't get used. Daily perfume is just some Yardley English rose (I know it's not cool but I love rose scents and it was cheap and cheerful). I'd like a rose perfume for the day that lasts and has a little more depth.

PerfumeNameChange · 07/04/2019 13:00

@keenwasalad I’ve tried to upload some pics but it’s not working Sad
If I absolutely had to narrow it down, one of them would be Jean Paul Gaultier Classique EDT without a shadow of a doubt, it was my first ever grown up fancy perfume love and it’s the one I come back to time and again. As for the second I have no idea!

JaceLancs · 07/04/2019 13:05

I have 30-40 maybe more never counted
It’s a mood thing with me - some perfumes remind me of certain things
I wear very different ones depending on time of day, occasion, what I’m wearing etc
DP recently remarked on how he always loves my ‘weekend away’ perfume as it makes him feel like we are on holiday! Whilst I agree it does (Brasil dream) it is rather boringly also my go to when on capsule luggage due to shape n size of bottle!

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 07/04/2019 13:09

YesQueen what's the Clean like in your photo? Is it sharp smelling?

JaceLancs · 07/04/2019 13:09

Forgot to say that’s full size
I collect samples when offered and probably have at least 50 unopened ones - very handy for a day out in handbag

YesQueen · 07/04/2019 13:13

@DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen I have a lot of clean ones! My favourite is clean cotton t shirt which is a slightly musky clean laundry smell
I also have summer sailing which is fresher

I think my cheapest perfume was £3 (Nivea dupe) and my most expensive well over £100 (ELDO eau de protection)

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 07/04/2019 13:15

Thanks YesQueen, I like the Nivea dupe too,I have the PP oil one.

MondeoFan · 07/04/2019 13:22

I love strong perfumes Angel, Alien and the original Poison, I have all of these plus a primark one and a body shop one.
I smelt Gucci Guilty the other day and thought how nice it was and I love the new Dior Joy one but can't afford it atm as saving for a holiday

cobblett36 · 07/04/2019 13:41

I have 7:
Jo Malone English pear and freesia that was my wedding day perfume and has my initials engraved so will never part with it.
Jo Malone, Vanilla and anise you cant buy it anymore so I use it sparingly and keep it somewhere dark.
Jo Malone woodsage and sea salt absolutely beautiful scent.
Jo Malone red roses. Super strong but gorgeous!
Chanel coco mademoiselle
Chloe original
And an Avon one called Eve Truth for everyday use.

I tend to like really different scents, DH normally buys my perfumes for Anniversary/birthday gifts. X

Auldspinster · 07/04/2019 13:52

Loads, never counted. Mostly Guerlain but a few Rochas. Not a snob though, got a fair few primark and Milton Lloyd scents as well as my expensive Serge Lutens and Piguet perfumes.

CharlyAngelic · 07/04/2019 14:00

None.
