Paid £100 tonight for cut and colour. It’s genuinely a terrible cut, scraggy with loads of very short layers, complete opposite of what I asked for. Colour like something from the 90s. Hair dye literally all over my face (although that can be fixed I don’t expect that for £100)
I didn’t speak up at the time because I felt awkward and also didn’t have my glasses on and wanted to have a look at home, thinking it wasn’t that bad. Husband and friends kindly confirm it is that bad. Indeed it’s fucking terrible.
So...I’m considering ringing tomorrow and talking to them. But...what would it achieve. Would the hairdresser be offended? And how can they fix a cut that is too short? Should I just chalk this down to experience? It’s a small village and I worry about offending!

When I was much younger (teenager) went and got my hair dyed. The hairdresser who was a just qualified and brand new to the salon started the foils about 5 inches from the door so it looked like I had dodgy roots before even leaving the salon. I could see the foils weren’t tight to my scalp. But as a shy teenager couldn’t pluck up the courage to say something. Luckily the manager saw my hair before I left and gave me a whopping discount.

If you have a good manager she will understand if you pop in today and say now the hair has lived for a bit it’s not what I want.

Op you have my sympathies

Absolutely shocking OP. Go in, demand a refund, leave a review.

MadeForThis · 06/04/2019 13:20

Hope you got your refund. I would definitely leave a review on their Facebook page.

BruceAndNosh · 06/04/2019 13:20

Maybe they over processed it with the colour and a big chunk fell off on the way home?

AdvancedAvoider · 06/04/2019 13:35

Dear god, that hairdresser needs to hang their scissors up immediately!

Mygwir is the colourin your wanted pic, I should give you the name of my colourist.

Hope you get this sorted Op and a full refund.

AdvancedAvoider · 06/04/2019 13:35

What utter tosh have I just typed? [cnfused]

Windbeneathmybingowings · 06/04/2019 13:49

I agree that often hairdressers do not have the skill to do the thing you want exactly, and rather than say that, just give it a shot. Especially with Pinterest and Instagram and everything with photos of people with amazing hair, often it can’t be replicated by just anyone. I want a very specific thing done with colour but I know I won’t find many that would be able to do it because the bleach and colour aren’t applied in a standard way. The margin for error is huge.

Get your money back or go viral with your complaint! Do you have a local FB page?

TSSDNCOP · 06/04/2019 13:50

I would kill the person that did that to my hair.

Ginger1982 · 06/04/2019 15:22

Any update?

LynetteScavo · 06/04/2019 15:37

Go with a friendly your husband to show the manager why you're not happy. You at least want a refund for the cut.

That style is basically a long inverted bob that's been curled. Getting the curl line that at home can be tricky, but a decent cut would still look good.

I'm pretty sure I have my "girls world" a decent bob when I was 9yo, so a hairdresser should be able to do it.

Sagradafamiliar · 06/04/2019 15:46

That's not layers, it's not even a mullet, it literally looks like she went in and just cut a big fuck-off step clean off out the side of your hair.
The cut+ the response= do they think you've shagged her DH or something?! Persevere for a refund, you bloody deserve one.

yummyscummymummy01 · 06/04/2019 15:50

Not the end of the world. Find a decent hairdresser and cut it all a bit shorter. It'll look lovely Smile

I think it could only be rescued with these sorts of styles now tbh. They've cut the front to ear length.

That hair cut yummy has long sides, the OP doesn't now thanks to the hairdresser.

Smelborp · 06/04/2019 16:22

Honestly if they don’t give a better reply I’d put your photos all over social media. Terrible reply from them!

Mediumsizeddancer · 06/04/2019 16:22

The OP’s front bits are cheekbone length, that style is chin length.

TSSDNCOP · 06/04/2019 16:49

There is no way you could turn OP's current cut into that Yummy, the front of her hair is halfway up her cheek.

The best she can hope for with that logic is to look like Edmund Blackadder.

TSSDNCOP · 06/04/2019 16:50

Not good

IamPickleRick · 06/04/2019 17:18

I think there’s still enough left at the side to have the style you wanted, it will just be much shorter than you wanted and you just have to make sure it doesn’t veer in to Karen wants to see the manager territory. I wouldn’t trust the same hairdresser to do it, you want the money back to go elsewhere!

toastonlytoast · 06/04/2019 17:19

How you got on OP? I hope you managed to get it sorted

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 06/04/2019 17:23

The OP's hair is about an inch shorter than that pic.

IamPickleRick · 06/04/2019 17:24

The shape is still possible but shorter. That’s the point.

Isawthesignanditopenedupmyeyes · 06/04/2019 17:28

They would like me to go in so they can see it in person and have said the stylist is really upset as it’s definitely not their usual standard. They have sent a lovely message saying please don’t feel uncomfortable about coming back. I couldn’t face it today and already had plans so will gear myself up to go in on Tuesday (they are closed Monday).

That's good OP!

kaytee87 · 06/04/2019 17:46

Sounds like someone else has taken over the messaging! Good.
