To be shocked at adults eating easter eggs already

In this BBC article it says "half of those surveyed said they had already bought and eaten at least one chocolate Easter egg or cake this year."

AIBU to be shocked at people just randomly buying and scoffing easter eggs before easter! It never crossed my mind. dashes off to the shops

I think its pretty pathetic tbh. Ooh I'll guzzle what I want when I want to... ok, but then how does anything have any value

Talk about an overreaction.

I eat pizza once every week or two, ALL YEAR ROUND. And I still flipping love pizza! Its value is that it is inherently delicious.

mclaleli · 04/04/2019 16:58

No reason why grown up adults can't do whatever they like, I am not judging,

Not judging, just 'shocked' Grin

Kidssendingmenuts · 04/04/2019 16:59

I've already bought the kids tons of Easter eggs and hidden away. When I've sat down finally for the day with my brew there is nothing better than swiping one from the stash and eating it in peace! X

Northernlass99 · 04/04/2019 17:00

Not judging, just 'shocked' - as in surprised!

Pizza is not a seasonal food though, celebrated as part of a religious/secular festival.

Maybe it should be though, I would like Pizza Week.

floribunda18 · 04/04/2019 17:02

I'm not shocked given obesity levels, but I am definitely judging.

But both pizza and easter eggs are just food. Their value isn't derived from being made to wait a certain length of time before you eat them. They taste the same no matter when you eat them.

Bowchicawowow · 04/04/2019 17:10

Nuno That's not strictly true. I love chocolate but that first taste of chocolate after not eating it during Lent is unbelievable!

quizqueen · 04/04/2019 17:11

I bought all my family Easter eggs when there was a good deal on. Unfortunately, the temptation was too great and I ate my Son in law's. I then had to get another for him at full price so I wasn't very pleased with myself! But it's not a crime.

NunoGoncalves · 04/04/2019 17:12

Nuno That's not strictly true. I love chocolate but that first taste of chocolate after not eating it during Lent is unbelievable!

So maybe you should wait even longer! Then it would be even better, right?

TreacherousPissFlap · 04/04/2019 17:12

I'm clearly a minority here Grin
We bought Creme Eggs for a project we are involved in and there were some left over.

DH popped one of each in my lunch bag as he couldn't decide whether I would prefer caramel or normal. That was last week and I'm still carting the things backwards and forwards every day DH and DS are scandalised Grin

RedRiverShore · 04/04/2019 17:12

They were cheap a while ago, I had a couple, they taste nicer than bars of chocolate, I have also had several cadburys egg and spoons and on Easter Monday or Tuesday I will go to Waitrose and stock up on packets of maltesars bunnies when they are reduced (hopefully) to see me through the next few weeks.Grin

Bowchicawowow · 04/04/2019 17:12

I can't wait any longer Nuno!

caughtinanet · 04/04/2019 17:12

I was going to say that of course I'm not shocked but I see that you actually meant surprised in which case I suppose I am as an Easter egg is a stupidly expensive way to buy chocolate I'm surprised someone would eat that rather than buy a bar. Surely the purpose of a chocolate egg is to eat it on Easter day itself.

DobbysLeftSock · 04/04/2019 17:15

I really, really want a bloody easter egg now.

greenpop21 · 04/04/2019 17:15

Not something I'd do.

floribunda18 · 04/04/2019 17:16

They taste the same no matter when you eat them.

They don't. If I've just eaten a load of chocolate, eating more would make me nauseous, it certainly wouldn't be enjoyable.

Eating a meal when you are actually hungry heightens your taste buds and it just tastes amazing.

katseyes7 · 04/04/2019 17:17

"Shocked". Seriously?

Marmite27 · 04/04/2019 17:18

I’ve not eaten any eggs in boxes, but I’ve had several Aldi bunny lollies (no palm oil, and fit into the old style of weight watchers I do nicely). The guy opposite me at work’s husband always buys 100 of the £1 ones Shock

AirBiscuit · 04/04/2019 17:18

I think it is disgraceful. Jesus suffered for 40 days and 40 nights in the wilderness whilst the devil tempted him with creme eggs, Lindt bunnies and Hershey's peanut butter cups. He held firm until indulging in a chocolate extravaganza when he arrived in Jerusalem. Although there are rumours that Judas was narked that he scoffed all the mini eggs and dobbed him in

NunoGoncalves · 04/04/2019 17:18

Ok ok, let's use a bit of common sense here. I was replying to a poster who said it was pathetic to eat an easter egg during lent and implied that it couldn't possibly taste as good as if you wait until Easter. Which I maintain is nonsense! If you haven't eaten an Easter egg since last Easter, I'm guessing one would taste pretty good right now!

SherlockSays · 04/04/2019 17:19

I've been eating them since the hit the shelves.. it's chocolate, it's often cheaper. Tesco we're doing a creme egg Easter egg for 75p a few weeks ago - a creme egg alone is 50p.

Not sure why it's shocking.

katseyes7 · 04/04/2019 17:21

To be fair, if we wait until Easter, all the greedy folk (like me) will have eaten them all.
l've had one today already....

Bowchicawowow · 04/04/2019 17:22

I didn’t say it was pathetic if you are referring to me. I have said each to their own. I got into the habit of giving up chocolate for Lent as a kid and I think it does me good to do so (because I eat so much chocolate at other times of the year). I stand by my comment that the first egg on Easter Sunday tastes amazing.

NunoGoncalves · 04/04/2019 17:22

Oh I wasn't! I was referring to a PP up thread who said:
