In this BBC article it says "half of those surveyed said they had already bought and eaten at least one chocolate Easter egg or cake this year."

AIBU to be shocked at people just randomly buying and scoffing easter eggs before easter! It never crossed my mind. dashes off to the shops

every time I go into Aldi I have to rush pass the posh chocolate eggs -so many flavours so much temptation - I bought eggs for the family but resisted (sulks no one buys for me....)

Iamgratefulfortomorrow · 05/04/2019 19:21

Honestly shocked? Live a little no one knows what tomorrow brings why wait till Easter? Hmm

celticprincess · 05/04/2019 19:39

I saw a mother with 2 toddlers in the library at the end of February. She had a sandwich and each of her kids had an Easter egg - their lunch. She was a very young single parent (told me she was single) and went on to say they spend nearly every day in the library because it’s free and then often go to Mac Donald’s!! I just couldn’t get past the fact they were eating chocolate eggs for their lunch. She kept offering them her sandwich but they refused. Who wouldn’t. But I guess the were only £1 so cheap.

princesspeppax · 05/04/2019 20:01

I ate a terrys chocolate orange egg last night i bought in tesco when they were down to £2 - it was delicious Grin

rosiejaune · 05/04/2019 20:07

I bought and ate this a couple of weeks ago: www.moofreechocolates.com/en/products/easter/sea-salt-and-caramel-egg

They don't do a bar of that flavour, so although it's ridiculously expensive to buy it in egg form, it's the only way of eating it.

And I'm Jewish; does that make it better (because the religious aspect and exact date is irrelevant to me) or worse (because I shouldn't be eating them at all)?!

somuchinfo · 05/04/2019 20:12

Years ago (I'm so old! ) Easter eggs would have been a real treat for EASTER. Now days like with everything there brought and sold as soon as they hit the shelves! I'm guilty of buying and eating before easter. I always buy them with the intention of putting them aside and then accidentally opening the odd one! I don't know why but the actual egg of a very well known brand tastes so much nicer than any other chocolate!

nuxe1984 · 05/04/2019 20:20

No worse than eating Hot Cross buns on Boxing Day!

xsquared · 05/04/2019 20:35

I am more shocked that adults buy overpackaged, hollow chocolate when they can buy more of the same chocolate in its normal packaging for far less.

BananaFace5 · 05/04/2019 20:39

Actually when theyre on offers like 3 for 3 then theyre cheaper than bars of chocolate

MillicentMartha · 05/04/2019 20:40

On the back of this thread I’ve just polished off a chocolate Easter bunny. Blush

Contraceptionismyfriend · 05/04/2019 20:53

DH has had to hide the Easter eggs....from me.

If I find them I will eat them Grin

paddyplaistow · 05/04/2019 20:55

I am shocked.

Floralnomad · 05/04/2019 21:05

At 75p for a reasonable sized egg and a cream egg / mars bar / crunchie etc it’s cheaper than buying the usual stuff .

bubblegumunicorn · 05/04/2019 21:10

Tesco were selling Cadbury’s ones for 75p so a creme egg and 122g of Cadbury’s chocolate for 75p is cheaper than buying 100g bar £1 and a creme egg about 60p 🤷‍♀️

Inapickle230 · 05/04/2019 21:32

This is one of the few perks of being a grown up!

lilabet2 · 05/04/2019 22:12

I sort of think it's the equivalent of eating all of an advert calendar in one go! I do eat Creme Eggs, Mini Eggs etc. before Easter but agree that it's shocking and horrifying to eat the full size ones!! :)

Mcflybumbum · 05/04/2019 22:28

I bought the kids Easter eggs months ago but as I know I'm a glutton, I hid them at my parents house...so I couldn't scoff them all. However, i've so far eaten about 4. Not even guilty. Easter egg chocolate is a wonderful thing.

Onceuponacheesecake · 05/04/2019 22:38

I like chocolate. I like Easter eggs. I think it's because the chocolate is thinner, it tastes better to me 🤷 I haven't eaten one yet but I have eaten them at this point in previous years. I have one in the cupboard whose days are numbered...

Crummyfunnymummy · 05/04/2019 22:52

Shocked? WTF?! You’re literally shocked. Why?? Because it’s an expensive way to eat chocolate? So what? People waste money in all sorts of ways. Is this a dig?

GCAcademic · 05/04/2019 22:58

I agree, OP. It is shocking. I have been making a stand against this iniquity by eating large bars of Lindt milk chocolate and hazelnut, washed down with hot cross buns instead. At least I can hold my head high and say I haven't succumbed to the decadence of pre-Easter egg-eating.

I did have meat for dinner tonight though.

Supergrassyknoll · 05/04/2019 23:08

Texel · 05/04/2019 23:12

Chocolate eggs seem to taste different to just a normal chocolate bar and I don't celebrate Easter, it's just a nice chocolate for me, so I've already had one.

VanGoghsDog · 05/04/2019 23:14

I bought an Easter egg today as a result of this thread and I'm going to eat it tomorrow. Yum!

SleepingSloth · 05/04/2019 23:23

What a terrible thing to do. wipes chocolate from around mouth and hides maltesers egg box under bed

emmakc1977 · 05/04/2019 23:23

Literally just finished one whilst reading AIBU threads Blush
