In this BBC article it says "half of those surveyed said they had already bought and eaten at least one chocolate Easter egg or cake this year."

AIBU to be shocked at people just randomly buying and scoffing easter eggs before easter! It never crossed my mind. dashes off to the shops

Hot cross buns have to be eaten in lent.
Trying buying them on the Saturday before Easter Sunday. Nowhere has them. (Trust me I've made this mistake too often.)

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 04/04/2019 14:29

I've already eaten DS's Thorntons football egg, which I stupidly bought early because it was such good value in Wilko. I'm not even a fan of Thorntons or football.

And I ate some Galaxy golden eggs, but I was planning to eat those.

happilyevernever · 04/04/2019 14:29

It’s just chocolate to me, and I love Easter eggs. So I eat them before Easter, it’s not like I get Easter eggs anyway, our family only buy for the kids

chocolateandpinkgin · 04/04/2019 14:30

"It's just chocolate" - yeah I guess I never thought of it that way!! Expensive way to eat chocolate though?

They're not that expensive, the small ones are £1 in Asda. And they taste SO much nicer than normal chocolate Grin

FloweryDreams · 04/04/2019 14:33

I bought lots when they were on sale for 75p each in tesco. Already eaten 2. Dh eaten 4 of them. Yummy chocolate

abcriskringle · 04/04/2019 14:34

I ate an Easter egg last night and I regret nothing

2rachtint · 04/04/2019 14:36

My in laws won't see us before Easter and they gave us one too as well as the children. We ate it the other night! Children's are still hidden!

doIreallyneedto · 04/04/2019 14:36

@Northernlass99 - Expensive way to eat chocolate though?

Not where I live. The supermarkets seem to have offers on them every week. So 3 medium cadbury's ones for €5 or 5 small ones for €5.

Problem is, if you only need 1 or 2, you end up buying the multiples so of course you then have to eat them yourself.

Oops!

To be shocked at adults eating easter eggs already
BadTigerKitty · 04/04/2019 14:38

I assume from the sheer quantity of Easter eggs in the shops that lots of people do this.

No one I know has ever admitted to it, though!

EarlyWarning · 04/04/2019 14:39

You might also be shocked to learn that people are eating hot cross buns already too.. And that people eat Mince Pies for at least 2 months before Christmas. Good grief OP, get a grip

VanGoghsDog · 04/04/2019 14:39

Chocolate is chocolate, if I fancy it, I'll buy it and eat it. I've had loads of crème eggs and chiccy choccy eggs already.

Don't generally buy the big eggs as they are not good value for money though I might buy myself one over Easter as I'm going away.

VanGoghsDog · 04/04/2019 14:40

Oh, yeah and hot crossed buns - I've had loads, sometimes four a day. :)

It's just food, isn't it?

pelirocco123 · 04/04/2019 14:41

Doesnt everyone buy eggs for their kids , eat them and then have to buy replacements ?

skippy67 · 04/04/2019 14:44

I'm shocked that you're shocked.

mclaleli · 04/04/2019 14:44

Tesco were selling the medium eggs with one bar of chocolate for 75p a few weeks ago.

Mars bar - 75p

Mars bar with chocolate egg -75p

No brainier.

vintanner · 04/04/2019 14:44

More fool them. Expensive chocolate. Rather buy a bar myself.

GraceMarks · 04/04/2019 14:45

I haven't had an actual Easter egg yet, but I have been at those mini Caramel ones and the ones with the Oreo and Daim fillings. Oh, and a MaltEaster bunny or two may have found its way into my basket as well.

As for egg-shaped chocolate tasting better, I might have agreed with pp on that once, but not since Cadbury was taken over by Kraft. I think all of their chocolate is worse than it used to be, but it's more noticeable when you eat it just on its own without any fillings etc. I can still force it down, mind...

DarlingNikita · 04/04/2019 14:45

I've had an Easter bunny with praline eggs and a Lindt bunny.

I know Easter chocolate is expensive for what it is, but I just love the thickness and shape of Easter eggs and bunnies. I took great pleasure in snapping off their ears. Grin

cheeserolls · 04/04/2019 14:45

Pmsl. I wish I had such trivial shite to be shocked at!!!!!

TheQueef · 04/04/2019 14:45

I got a massive lindt egg for Mothers day.
We are currently having a Mexican stand off each time I open the fridge.

Fuzzyheadache · 04/04/2019 14:46

I'd bought all my nieces and nephews (12 in total) as they were on offer a month or so ago. Me and the OH have eaten them all. I was going to replace but then thought I'd better wait until next week.

Just to note, we don't actually have crisps or chocolate in the house, we eat very lean but my word it was so easy!

1shotcappuccino · 04/04/2019 14:46

Why not? The £1 creme egg ones are nice . Only same as a bar of chocolate. Just a different shape

WeeMadArthur · 04/04/2019 14:47

Agree with chocolateandpinkgin it’s much nicer than normal chocolate plus if you get the ones on offer for £1 then it’s just as cheap as buying a large bar. I’m being good this year as I need to lose weight but in previous years I had already eaten my way through more than my fair share of Easter eggs by this point ( hence needing to lose the weight!)

LondonMummy1987 · 04/04/2019 14:48

I do this, because I purchase them for all the kids in the family when I see a good deal, so this could be a few weeks before Easter. Then I see them indoors and fancy a bit of chocolate and before I know it I have eaten an egg, and need to replace it.
