In this BBC article it says "half of those surveyed said they had already bought and eaten at least one chocolate Easter egg or cake this year."

Easter egg chocolate always tastes better thought.

I love that it’s thin and makes a cracking noise when you bite it.

As for creme eggs and mini eggs. All I can say is they’re year round fodder as far as I’m concerned.

Spanglybangles · 04/04/2019 14:49

I’ve had a number of creme/caramel eggs, but none of the larger ones. They are all stashed away for Easter. Looking forward to eating my terrys choc orange one as the actual egg part has no palm oil listed in ingredients so might actually be tasty. The bars do but I’ll still eat them!!

Big Lindt bunnies for the kids...again palm oil free, no such luck with the creme eggs and malteaser bunnies but can’t resist buying a few anyway as they love them.

TooTrueToBeGood · 04/04/2019 14:49

Are they even Christian?

MumsyJ · 04/04/2019 14:50

Just had a kinder surprise egg rather yummy... saving the minion inside for DD when I pick her up from preschool Grin

BlackCatSleeping · 04/04/2019 14:50

I think it doesn't help that Easter is so late this year.

I sent my mum a box of mini eggs, creme eggs, etc for Mother's Day. I'm sure she'll ave eaten most of them by now. Grin

Northernlass99 · 04/04/2019 14:52

Creams eggs and mini eggs are fair game. Hot cross buns likewise. Also people who are given eggs before Easter, or kids who won't be able to have them at Easter.

But grown ups buying full sized Easter eggs as a treat is a revelation to me (I've no imagination!) I am definitely off to Asda to get one for the weekend now!

I don't buy Easter eggs or selection boxes at Christmas till right the last minute, because I'd just end up raiding them and having to buy them again

Aquilla · 04/04/2019 14:56

I hate this!

Oliversmumsarmy · 04/04/2019 14:58

Isn’t eating Easter Eggs before Easter normal?

GummyGoddess · 04/04/2019 14:58

Er, am I not supposed to do that? I thought it was a perk of being an adult...

Walkingdeadfangirl · 04/04/2019 14:58

Its April, kids finish school for Easter tomorrow, why the heck wouldn't people be eating chocolate eggs? Chocolate is nice all year around, I think they stopped having anything to do with 'Easter' a long time ago.

I am shocked that someone finds this shocking.

CombineBananaFister · 04/04/2019 14:58

It's become our family tradition to buy DH an Easter Egg the day after Boxing Day Blush in his defence he works all xmas as a chef and is bloody sick of the related foods by then but he LOVES shaped chocolate Grin he's not even got a sweet tooth really, so wouldn't thank you for a bar or box of chocs but Lindt bunnies or eggs and he'd be eternally grateful. Weirdo Smile

onemouseplace · 04/04/2019 14:59

I ate the mini-eggs last night that were supposed to top my cakes forthe bake sale today - and had to go to 4 different shops this morning to buy replacements.

I've been eating hot cross buns for about 6 weeks - I'm actually a bit fed up with them now.

RomanyQueen1 · 04/04/2019 15:00

I think they mean all sorts of eggs including cadburys creme eggs.
I have one of these after Christmas in January, so this year.
I haven't had any more but would have answered yes to that poll.

Oliversmumsarmy · 04/04/2019 15:00

flameycakes

Friend demolished all her dcs Easter eggs on the run up to Easter and had to go out and buy more. (Some were from gps and aunties and uncles who were coming over for Easter)

Advent calendars were not safe either

Babdoc · 04/04/2019 15:00

Surely if you’ve been eating Easter eggs all through Lent, there’s then no lovely sense of building anticipation, and nothing special to eat as celebration of Christ’s resurrection on Easter Sunday?
It would be like opening your Christmas presents all through December, so the day itself would be just another day?
We don’t touch Easter eggs (or hot cross buns) until Easter itself, when we join in with rolling eggs down the aisle at church, and the Sunday school children give out free chocolate eggs to the congregation.
We go home after the service for a big roast lamb lunch, and have our hot cross buns at teatime. The house and garden are full of daffodils and forsythia, and it’s the biggest celebration of the Christian year, so everyone’s in joyful mood.
Can people really not contain themselves for just six weeks of prayer, meditation and preparation, before hitting the chocolate?!

pink412 · 04/04/2019 15:02

Honestly if people can buy them then they are old enough be allowed to eat them when they wish

SheChoseDown · 04/04/2019 15:05

Oh heavens no!!!!
Are you OK hun?

Lweji · 04/04/2019 15:07

Yes, I'm shocked that adults eat chocolates.

Even more shocked that I haven't eaten any Easter eggs yet.
Just chocolate almonds.

Although, Easter egg chocolate tends to be mid to low range milk chocolate. I'd rather be eating slightly better quality chocolate bars that leave less mess.

happyhillock · 04/04/2019 15:07

I've eaten two easter eggs since Friday, Yummy, if anyone is shocked, get a life

EmmaJR1 · 04/04/2019 15:10

For some unknown reason the chocolate eggs are the best chocolate ever. We've had 2 in this house already!

RedPanda2 · 04/04/2019 15:11

It's only chocolate op!

RedPanda2 · 04/04/2019 15:12

@Babdoc Lols

Folf · 04/04/2019 15:13

I was given one for mothers day.. I didnt last long.

They're fair game to adults, we buy them, no rules against eating them, especially the cheap ones, its cheaper to buy an egg than the big bars sometimes.

KipperTheFrog · 04/04/2019 15:15

I've eaten mini eggs and creme eggs and far too many hot cross buns but not a full size egg. However, I know people who have eaten full size eggs. I'm not shocked by it, or even surprised, I just find it an expensive way to eat chocolate!
