In this BBC article it says "half of those surveyed said they had already bought and eaten at least one chocolate Easter egg or cake this year."

AIBU to be shocked at people just randomly buying and scoffing easter eggs before easter! It never crossed my mind. dashes off to the shops

Every year as soon as we see them I get an egg for everyone and we scoff them...
They taste better....

GregoryPeckingDuck · 05/04/2019 11:08

Hollow chocolate tastes better

SoyDora · 05/04/2019 13:11

Having chocolate eggs whenever you feel like it takes away some of the enjoyment, imo

The key part of that sentence is ‘imo’. It doesn’t take away any of the enjoyment, in my opinion. It tastes the same whenever I eat it.

GoFiguire · 05/04/2019 13:13

It definitely tastes better if you know that, by eating it, you will annoy other people Grin

Angeladelight · 05/04/2019 13:15

Tbf they offers they do on the Easter eggs, you’re actually better off buying something Easter themed than buying usual chocolate.

Walkingdeadfangirl · 05/04/2019 16:00

Waiting makes things better and more special
Sounds like sado-masicism, spending 6 weeks torturing yourself over what you are being deprived of. If you like chocolate eggs just eat some already.

Oliversmumsarmy · 05/04/2019 16:53

Waiting makes things better and more special

Waiting just invokes disappointment when you finally get what you have been waiting for and you realise it is just chocolate

StormTreader · 05/04/2019 17:04

Waiting makes things better and more special

Does it count that I've been excited about the chocolate hens since February? I have waited! Grin

Floralnomad · 05/04/2019 17:11

But if you are an atheist family like we are what are we waiting for ? In this house Easter egg season is exactly that , it starts and it ends and whilst it’s on you eat Easter eggs if that’s what you want to do .

RottnestFerry · 05/04/2019 17:21

We finished one left over from last Easter yesterday.

MontStMichel · 05/04/2019 17:28

DD’s bf still has 10 left from last year - they bought loads cheap after Easter!

BlackCatSleeping · 05/04/2019 17:31

I never actually eat Easter eggs. I just buy them and put them in a cupboard so I can feel smug. 😇

Is that what most MNers do?

GummyGoddess · 05/04/2019 17:35

Oh yes @GoFiguire ! My bunny that I have just eaten tasted even better than usual! Grin

jessebuni · 05/04/2019 17:48

I haven’t this year because I’m on a major sugar detox but usually I might get an Easter egg and eat it whenever I fancy. we don’t celebrate Easter but around Easter time that’s the chocolate that’s on special offer so I would buy it and eat it whenever I wanted.

RottnestFerry · 05/04/2019 17:50

We only but them for children. It's an expensive way of buying chocolate.

MusicianLab1 · 05/04/2019 18:06

Really glad I’ve found this thread!! I was given one today by a child in my class, a massive Maltesters one. He gave it to me at 8:30 and by lunchtime it had gone! Yum yum o Reilly I say

TheFaerieQueene · 05/04/2019 18:11

I must be v weird. I have an xxl Lindt bunny from a couple of years ago that I haven’t eaten. It will probably still be in the cupboard in two more years!

SoyDora · 05/04/2019 18:15

I’d probably chuck it if I were you TheFaerieQueene.

HattieRabbit · 05/04/2019 18:15

🤔 Cadbury’s Easter eggs are on offer for £1 at Morrison’s.

I looked at the price comparison - it makes it 67p (ish) per 100g for an easter egg whilst it’s about 74p per 100g for a normal bar of chocolate. Why would I pay more for chocolate in less fun packaging?

Over the past few weeks I’ve had like 3 Easter eggs 😂 no plans to stop. I may even stock up x

Widowodiw · 05/04/2019 18:20

I only wish I could. Chocolate gives me severe headaches.

breadzeb · 05/04/2019 18:28

Waiting makes things better and more special

It doesn't really though. What if the chocolate is shite? Waiting doesn't change the product.

GummyGoddess · 05/04/2019 18:31

Waiting makes it a bit of a let down to me. It's like I've built it up in my head and the actual item is then a disappointment, whereas if I eat it whenever I like, I enjoy it.

Walkingdeadfangirl · 05/04/2019 18:37

What day is it that xtians are supposed to eat chocolate eggs on?

Wouldn't it make you ill binge eating all them chocolate eggs on one day?

Worsethingshappenatsea · 05/04/2019 18:38

I've ate 3 so far Blush
Bought with my weekly shop for nieces and nephews but keep having to replace them.
They have to be Cadbury ones thought just love the chocolate of the egg tastes nicer than a bar of chocolate. My own kids know how much I love Easter eggs and I got a huge creme egg one for Mother's Day too so have actually ate 4 to date !

LouJJersey · 05/04/2019 18:41

I am literally dreaming of Easter eggs. There is something about Easter egg chocolate that is so yummy! I might buy one tomorrow now and eat it in bed 🤪
