Just out of interest, as I’ve really been enjoying the fridge contents threads! Also, I’m in a bit of a recipe rut, so could use some inspiration.

We are a family of four, (2 adults and 2 dcs). I eat mainly veggie, but, since my family can’t seem to agree on veggie meals that we all like, I now just cook meat for the rest of the family and adapt it, so it’s suitable for me too.

Our favourites are:

  • roast dinner
  • choose-your-own-toppings pizza
  • pasta and veggie tomato sauce
  • sausage mash & gravy
  • Buddha bowl / salad type things with everyone’s favourite things

Five favourite for the kids?

Fajitas
Enchiladas
Tacos
Roast dinner
Greek salad

They're not particularly fussy eaters, but strangely have a real penchant for Mexican food!

We also regularly have curries, pasta dishes, shep pie, fish pie, stir fries, and occasionally beige food, pizza or takeaway. Just normal family food.

Tonight I made a recipe from the BBC Good Food website which might be a new favourite. Pork loin chips, with a sauce made from stock, garlic, thyme and apricot jam. Even DS2 who is the world's fussiest eater RAVED about it!

Soosiesoo · 02/04/2019 21:09

Lasagne
Risotto
Fajitas
Quesadillas
Roast

SnowWhitesRestingBitchFace · 02/04/2019 21:10

Paella
Spaghetti Bolognese
Roast Dinner
Chilli Con Carne (sometimes with rice but other times over chips for taco fries or hot dogs for chilli dogs)
Chicken Kiev with chips and veg or beans.

We try and do at least 1 new meal each week (obviously we don't just stick to the above, they're just the most requested). They also love a Stir Fry and also lately salad with potatoes and Quiche.

I have quite a fussy family, veg haters and one who hates spicy so I tend to have to make a couple of versions of each meal. Our current top 5 is probably:

Fish pie made with smoked haddock, salmon and white fish, topped with cheesy mash.

Lasagne, salad and garlic bread

Roast pork with crackling, Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes, baked veg

Chilli con carne with rice and extras

Homemade chicken curry using leftover roast chicken so it goes all stringy!

StarlaP · 02/04/2019 21:14

We have loads of other meals, curry, risotto, roast dinner, loads of other pasta dishes, etc but the ones above get no complaints ever.

theSnuffster · 02/04/2019 21:23

Jacket potatoes- with cheese, beans, tuna mayo.
Roast dinners- usually chicken.
DD likes old El Paso meal kits, especially the soft taco shells.
DS likes anything chicken-based.
Sausage and mash.

HolyForkingShirt · 02/04/2019 21:23

Thai green/red/panang curry
Salmon and cream cheese fresh pasta
Salmon & courgette lasagne
Spaghetti and meatballs
Chicken & chorizo risotto

I actually hate roast dinners lol, my family did them every week and I hated the sameness and blandness. I seem to like everything overly herbed and aromatic!

Iamblossom · 02/04/2019 21:23

Kedgeree definitely, we all love it!

Pork ribs from the Masterchef street food book, DH has made them a couple of times and they are to die for. We have them with corn on the cob and coleslaw, sometimes baked potato.

Toad in the hole or sausage and mash with onion gravy

Spaghetti bolognese

Shepherds pie with peas

Bleurghthatisall · 02/04/2019 21:23

I’m so pleased this is largely normal fare, feel so guilty about my own lack of imagination

Pizza with veg sticks on side
Cheese omelette with broccoli
Pasta bolognese
Jacket potatoes cheese and beans
