"Louise's" new single.

Give me strength.

What with her and Emma bunton, neither of whom had a jot of talent to begin with...

Why can't they just enjoy their former success and graciously recognise they're not actually serious recording artists.

We do not need new releases thank you.

Ooh the Will Young one is interesting too (as well as grim)

Maybe it's not women who have to get their kit off, but anyone men might want to gaze at.

Realitea · 27/03/2019 18:34

@Disfordarkchocolate I know! The close ups of the crotch grabbing and the white y fronts Shock
It is a good song though I agree

Siameasy · 27/03/2019 18:55

Louise trying to be Kylie. Wearing a leotard - desperate
I dont get the point of the Emma one. Forgettable

Vivianebrezilletbrooks · 27/03/2019 19:19

Oh I've seen the hype for Louise when scrolling Insta earlier as a magazine I get was fawning over her. Probably written by the same journo who was fawning over Little Mix, trying to compare them to The Human League(probably because he fancies the lot of them) so needless to say I'll be avoiding hearing it and Emma Bunton as well.

DataBreachCentral · 27/03/2019 19:52

Just searched it out on Youtube and it's nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be.

Nothing to set the world on fire and she sounds like Cheryl TweedyColeFernandez-Versini to me. Generic, bland pop designed for an average voice.

LEELULUMPKIN · 27/03/2019 20:06

Will Young's new vid is a more explicit version of Village People. His Gay fans will LOVE it!

EdWinchester · 27/03/2019 20:06

Just watched about 1/3 of Emma Bunton's video.

It was too awful to watch any more. I feel embarrassed for her.

NumbersStation · 27/03/2019 20:15

There isn't a vacuum cleaner strong enough to suck up the residue from those clouds of coloured dust.

The inside of her lungs will be buggered.

Bloody love that song mia

Em's? Not so much.

Leotards do not belong on popstrels of any age.

DesertSky · 27/03/2019 20:21

Ha I just had to watch the Emma Bunton one after reading comments. Utter cringe. Blush

dragonsfire · 27/03/2019 20:22

Britney is still kicking it!

I adore Britney but I am very aware her singing talents are erm not fantastic doesn’t stop me buying her music.

Not sure about Louise but I reckon Emma Bunton will have some hard for followers like I am with Britney - talent or not lol

LHMB · 27/03/2019 20:27

I used to love the spice girls but I only liked a couple of Emma's solo tracks.
I liked Eternal, I'll admit I liked some of Louise's stuff too. I had her albums on CD years ago, and Spice girls and a couple of Eternal's.

dragonsfire I love Britney too!

Genuine50 · 27/03/2019 22:18

Actually I think Emma Bunton is quite underrated. She has a pleasant voice and seems more down to earth and normal than the other Spice Girls. She would be far better as a judge on the X Factor than Mel B. The SG were huge globally so Emma is a well known celebrity. Louise’s band Eternal on the other hand were not known outside the UK and their success doesn’t really compare with the Spice Girls plus Louise didn’t stick with them for long. Don’t think many people are waiting for her comeback.

MyNameIsJane · 28/03/2019 05:18

With regard to her voice, I heard Louise in Cabaret last year and she was really good.

TheoriginalLEM · 28/03/2019 05:22

Women doing what women do best

floribunda18 · 28/03/2019 05:42

Why start a thread about it?

How vindictive, petty and bitchy.

Ohgodtheresaspider · 28/03/2019 07:21

Was Jamie redknapp a serial cheater? I’m really surprised by that he seemed like a family man

QueenKubauOfKish · 28/03/2019 10:51

It's OK to lament the release of some rubbish music/cringy videos, why not? And I think it's OK to lament women perpetuating patriarchal crap.

I'm a feminist and it pisses me off when women buy into the "get your kit off to sell a forgettable record" merry-go-round but especially so when they are in their 40s, established, financially secure and can't claim naivety or poverty. They are selling younger women a shit message and I will criticise that if I like.

If women are never allowed to criticise other women for any reason just BECAUSE they are women, that's not feminism or sisterhood. It's just putting women on a pedestal and saying they're special creatures who can do no wrong and can't be held up to the same standards as men. That's not equality is it - it's patronising nonsense.

It's not about tearing apart their appearance to drag them down. It's about lamenting that they are telling other women that this is what you do to get noticed and accepted in the music industry. Which is not only outdated and patriarchal, it's plain wrong, hence my Aretha link. If you're any good you can shine on that basis and that's always been the case.

RhymingRabbit · 28/03/2019 10:57

@Beerincomechampagnetaste

bit like those all saints girls. Huge ego, little talent.

I know the thread has moved on a LOT but I OBJECT! I went to an All Saints gig recently and it was brilliant. They have some awesome tubes and the four of them were just up on that stage having a great time. They weren't taking themselves seriously at all but just having a laugh - like they couldn't believe their luck that they were getting to do it again. I go to see "proper" bands all the time and while I love the music it always feels a bit like they would much rather be somewhere else.

ralfeesmum · 28/03/2019 10:58

Didn't Emma B make her celebrity off the back of being the Spice Girl who dressed up looking like a child molesters ideal birthday pressie?

Who the hell advised her to create that kind of image?

RhymingRabbit · 28/03/2019 10:59

Tunes...not tubes. I have no idea how awesome their tubes are.

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 28/03/2019 11:04

Was Jamie redknapp a serial cheater? I’m really surprised by that he seemed like a family man

It’s very telling the reason
For the divorce was his ‘unreasonable behaviour ‘ - it may have been gagged but she held the line there

Look as I said earlier we know the jobs we
Know . So a pop star aged 40 is still
Going to do what she she knows !

No one slates the old men as much as the Middle Aged
Women I notice

LazyLizzy · 28/03/2019 13:54

QueenKubauOfKish Couldn't have said it better myself.

EdWinchester · 28/03/2019 15:15

QueenKubauOfKish

AMEN!

Of all the annoyances on MN, the sanctimonious 'sisterhood' tropes annoy me more than anything. If someone in the public eye does something a bit shite, it's really OK to call them out/have a laugh about it, even if they're a woman. Shockers.

floribunda18 · 28/03/2019 16:38

I wasn't saying it was wrong to criticise any woman, but starting a thread about it on MN just to so do seems bitchy and unnecessary, and seems to smack of jealousy and other issues going on in the thread starter.

It just isn't a normal or appropriate thing to do, it's not like Louise or Emma are forcing you to buy their records or watch their videos, and ironically, starting threads like this only promotes their work to a wider audience, I literally had no idea they had new music out and had heard nothing of their lives for a good while. If you don't like what they do, just avoid it, it's fairly easy to do.

I am no particular fan of either of them, but I did enjoy seeing Louise on SCD and that she seems happy getting back into performing again. They are just both of my generation and a similar age which makes me cheer them on slightly for nostalgia purposes.

I don't particularly care whether or not people take their clothes off. I listen to music, don't particularly watch videos and half the time don't even know what the artists look like or anything about them.

eternalopt · 28/03/2019 22:31

Looks like Louise's video will be quite different to Emma's!!
