"Louise's" new single.

Give me strength.

What with her and Emma bunton, neither of whom had a jot of talent to begin with...

Why can't they just enjoy their former success and graciously recognise they're not actually serious recording artists.

We do not need new releases thank you.

Is he a serial cheat?? Genuinely didn’t know that. Hardly a need for the humpy wee face!

LazyLizzy · 26/03/2019 14:18

You’ve got my curiosity, now show me heaven. Can you keep it up for me? Keep me sweating, obsessing, regressing, I want to see you stretch.

Loads of substance Grin

LazyLizzy · 26/03/2019 14:20

TanselleTooTall I agree though that Louise's is more catchy, and probably get more airplay.

TanselleTooTall · 26/03/2019 14:25

😂 Substance of beat LazyLizzy obviously!! God those lyrics made me pull my head down into my neck. So flipping cringey. And now you've written them out for aaalllll to behold. 😂

Thatsalovelycuppatea · 26/03/2019 14:26

I couldn't find Louise redknap's new video.
However, I watched Emma buntons and I actually think it's better than some disgusting sexualised music videos out there at the moment!!!!

LazyLizzy · 26/03/2019 14:26

Ha ha sorry Tanselle!!

MorrisZapp · 26/03/2019 14:30

Christ that video is atrocious. It's like Twiggy flogging polyester dresses for M&S.

ZaZathecat · 26/03/2019 14:33

Fere, I saw Louise in Cabaret and you're right, she doesn't have the voice for musical theatre, nor the presence. Will Young was fab in it though.

QueenKubauOfKish · 26/03/2019 14:35

Well having taken several minutes I'l never get back to check them out (why???) I pronounce that I like Emma's song a bit more but they are both vacuous pap.

Why the fuck do they have to try and keep up with the young ones and use shite smutty lyrics.

Agree with this - yes they can sing about / wear what they like blah blah, but I hate the implication that for your 40-something "comeback" you have to sing about hot sex while prancing about in your keks and bra with a jacket over the top, contoured to within an inch of your life to hide your face, with the aim of doing a passable impression of someone half your age. It's crap and they are both just playing into the whole outdated sexist roundabout where women have value only if they're half naked, wrinkle-free and sexually available. So flame me!

On top of that, is it just me or is there somehting hideously revolting and porny about a song about sex called "Stretch"!?? Blech!

Starburst8 · 26/03/2019 14:38

@RugbyRugby "what makes it cringey"
For me personally it's the fact that she's a 40 odd year old woman dressed as a teenager and the song sounds like it's aimed at kids. It's just odd.
Saying that though she does look good for her age.

QueenKubauOfKish · 26/03/2019 14:42

As an antidote I give you

meladeso · 26/03/2019 14:43

@QueenKubauOfKish YES YES! to everything you wrote

For people worried about women bitching about women i can't for the life of me understand why ageing millionaires cliff Richard, Paul McCartney and Elton John keep releasing new material.(and calendars!! 😳😳) They must all easily have enough millions to keep them in hair dye and wigs never have to work again. None of them sounded like they could sing well live anymore on the queens jubilee concert abd that was years ago!

QueenKubauOfKish · 26/03/2019 14:53

Also if you want proof that MNers don't just bitch about female regrettable musical productions, check out any thread about Nick Knowles.

Willowtreecottage · 26/03/2019 14:56

This thread is ageist, because some posters think they have the right to decide that two women in their 40’s - shouldn’t dress:behave, as teenagers!
Says who?
This has always been their way/style. They are pop artists. Not Maria Callas!
Also: “ looks good for their age”
What’s that about?

LazyLizzy · 26/03/2019 14:56

Nick Knowles, now he is Mr Cringey McCringe Grin

LazyLizzy · 26/03/2019 15:00

Not true. Teenagers shouldn't be dressing up like tarts with everything on show just to sell a record.
I would like to think a woman in her 40s has the confidence to say fuck no. Whereas in your 20s you could easily be persuaded by the record company.

Persimmonn · 26/03/2019 15:03

Omg that Emma bunting video is so cringe! Why would you film a family reunion for a video Confused

QueenKubauOfKish · 26/03/2019 15:03

I'm not decreeing that they shouldn't - they can do what they like, as I said. What I'm lamenting is the crap sexist message it sends out and they are willingly partaking in, that they have to look young, perfect-bodied and squeal "I'm desperate for you to shag me big boy".

Dramatical · 26/03/2019 15:04

However, I watched Emma buntons and I actually think it's better than some disgusting sexualised music videos out there at the moment!!!!

Right, so in order for it to be OK it he to be compared to shite?

How about making a judgement based on what you see?

Dramatical · 26/03/2019 15:05

Also: “ looks good for their age”
What’s that about?

I think it's a fact of life. People age.

LazyLizzy · 26/03/2019 15:10

I think it's a fact of life. People age.

It is, and then they try and disguise it with so much airbrushing they are unrecognisable. Desperate and sad.

mopthefloor · 26/03/2019 15:35

Can you keep it up for me?

Seriously??? ShockHmmGrin

PoliticalBiscuit · 26/03/2019 16:23

I think what bothers me about both of the new songs is that there's no growth, no development. Louise has at least tried to incorporate a modern sound and tempo, Emma's could literally be a song from her album in 2003 (B side).

I'm no big Take That fan but I do like that Barlow's music grew up with him. His song about his still born daughter is just so beautiful and shows that there are stories and songs to be written about all life events not just how you're 23 and horny.

Except Louise is 44 and really probably more often excited by shoes than new men. It's no longer groundbreaking to be ok to be a sexual middle aged woman, its talked about over your cornflakes on This Morning etc. Where's the passion and the soul?

PoliticalBiscuit · 26/03/2019 16:25

And to the person asking what's not right about Emma's video, its musical version of the women eating yoghurt blog.

Or women eating salad...
