OMG...Im hoping someone can help me, this is so embarassing, I feel like i have a tennis ball stuck up my bum, i cant go to the toilet and it hurts, I have been sitting on the toilet for over an hour and it feels like its coming, but...Nothing. Im sore, i feel sick and shaking. I have never felt anything like this before, somebody please tell me what to do. How can I "unblock". Ive tried walking around, drinking water, I dont know what else to do.

PS i know this sounds like a joke, but, I promise its not.

God some of the replies here Shock

It's impacted OP. Ignore all advice re: laxatives and fruit / prunes etc. That's not going to help now.

You need a suppository. I would say via GP rather than pharmacist as you need it to be strong, but I guess try pharmacist first.

You have my sympathies - this is truly awful pain, I had this after the birth of my 3rd child, I will never ever forget it. (I had to return to the hospital in my case but it was sorted in a few hours).

Please please ignore the crazy crazy DIY suggestions here. They could damage you, and they WON'T work. Best of luck. Flowers

MyOtherProfile · 25/03/2019 16:53

Call 111?

OldAndWornOut · 25/03/2019 16:54

Warm bath or shower; squat down and use your fingers to 'rake out'. Shock

Once you've got the dried out lump moving, the rest should follow.

Cantgiveashitliterally · 25/03/2019 16:54

Oh God, I wanted to avoid the doctors, Im a working single mum, I haven't got time to go doctors, and thats if im lucky enough to get an appointment

Pastaagain78 · 25/03/2019 16:56

Clean fingers in vagina. Apply pressure to back wall. You can feel the lumps. If you have a tear in the muscle sometimes the poo can get get stuck in the rectocele.

AlexaAmbidextra · 25/03/2019 16:59

If any carers or care home nurses are doing this then report them to the local social services. This is not ok.

You really don’t know what you’re talking about. Manual evacuation is sometimes necessary. You wear gloves and use a lubricant.

Shookethtothecore · 25/03/2019 17:01

How do you prevent this. The op who said they had this after birth, I’m PG and had it before child birth but I can’t imagine the pain after

Bobcatcornea · 25/03/2019 17:01

OP so sorry you're going through this. I've been there and it's horrible. I agree with some of the other replies in that manual evacuation was the only thing that helped for me. Try to push it out and also try to manually remove it with your fingers. And yes it hurts, yes it's uncomfortable but no more than that stuck feeling and once it's out the pain goes away.

Good luck, I really hope it eases soon.

OldAndWornOut · 25/03/2019 17:03

Nurses do manual evacuations regularly on elderly patients.

Tiredmum100 · 25/03/2019 17:03

Contact your GP. Sounds like your constipated in your lower rectum? An enema could move things.

Tiredmum100 · 25/03/2019 17:06

I'm a community nurse, we regularly call to administer phosphate enemas when people are constipated lower down. In 14 years off being qualified I've only come across one person who I've had to do manual evacuations on. We would try other non invasive this first.

Cantgiveashitliterally · 25/03/2019 17:08

@Tiredmum100 What sort of things would you try?

OP posts:
TougheningUp · 25/03/2019 17:11

Glycerine suppositories are meant to be very helpful, and very fast working, if you can get to a pharmacy, OP. I hope you get sorted soon.

Cluelessbeetroot · 25/03/2019 17:15

Movicol sachets
From the pharmacy
Take 8 (in 2 litres of water drunk over 3 hours or something like that - it will say on the sachet)
You usually take 1 or 2 sachets for normal constipation and 8 for severe (I know it sounds a lot but it says on the packaging)
Given to DSis by A&E doctor (pain was so bad she ended up there) and the only thing that worked
You can get them from any pharmacy without prescription

greenpop21 · 25/03/2019 17:16

Yes feet up is a more natural position to poo in or even squat over some newspaper.

Cluelessbeetroot · 25/03/2019 17:17

And suppositories too, she had the Dulcolax ones
They sort of worked but they only clear the first “layer” so to speak

Tiredmum100 · 25/03/2019 17:17

Our usual routine is GP would assess and then prescribe Microlax enema or phosphate enema (usually phosphate). We usually need to administer as we usually visit older people who are unable to administer themselves but if you're able you can do it yourself by lying on your left side with your knees up to your chest. If it feels hard lower down it sounds as if it's just stuck in your rectum. I think around here you can buy enemas if you discuss with your local pharmacy? Can you go to.one now?

I know how awful it is. I hate seeing people constipated. It makes you feel rotten. When did you last open your bowels?

Cantgiveashitliterally · 25/03/2019 17:19

@Tiredmum100 I cant remember, but it was one day last week, which, isn't uncommon for me anyway.
Ive already took a senokot can i take an enema too?

OP posts:
Noloudnoises · 25/03/2019 17:23

A suppository won't interfere with the senekot (which will be working behind the scenes as it were!) fabulous things.

Summerontheway · 25/03/2019 17:25

I get this all the time as I have to take painkillers. Glycerine suppository will clear you out in minutes. The over the counter ones are fine and work well. I get them in Sainsbury's but any pharmacy will stock them. No need for GP. Get some today and you'll be better by this evening. Keep up with senokot until you are regular again. Honestly the idea of sticking one up your bum is lot worse than doing it they aren't big. Good luck

EffYouSeeKaye · 25/03/2019 17:31

Warm bath or shower; squat down and use your fingers to 'rake out'

In a BATH? No fucking way.

Aarghhelpplease · 25/03/2019 17:32

A little advice for once you’ve got it sorted. Buy some co ton A 00. It’s not a laxative but a herbal supplement for a healthy colon. You take it 3 times a day with meals and you start to go regularly within 24 hours. I know that doesn’t help you now but just so it doesn’t happen to you again.

OohYeBelter47 · 25/03/2019 17:44

Have you been taking medication that can constipate you, e.g codeine? Use manual excavation, hot flannels for the pain and vaseline.

sackrifice · 25/03/2019 17:46

Last week?

When you are sorted, you need to reassess your diet. You need more veg in you.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 25/03/2019 17:46

You really need a glycerin suppository. If the bottom end is dried out, it needs some help to get moving. The rest will follow.
