So trustworthy and dependable. So profound, 'we've had enough of experts'. Such an obvious choice really at a time of national crisis. Words fail me.

As a teacher I think he's and utter fuck wit and I can stand the man. Also can't stand boris or Rees mogg

LateEaster · 24/03/2019 21:58

A new leader won't help the Tories, they have been eaten by their Euro sceptic war.

^ 🤔🤔

You could easily interchange Tory with labour and where are the lib Dems? Also consumed by Brexit.

Saw this earlier and it amused me.

Actually Rod Stewart would be ok.

puppy23 · 24/03/2019 23:51

Trustworthy and dependable??? Are we thinking of the same man?

HazelBite · 25/03/2019 00:08

After his brilliant performance as Education Secretary, he took his expertise to the Ministry of Justice, it was embarassing how clueless he was!

MatthewBramble · 25/03/2019 00:43

Only if the other choice (with NO alternative) was Boris J. Personally, I'd rather see them both on their way to Hades in a handcart!

Dottierichardson · 25/03/2019 00:58

You are so far beyond reasonable, the man is appalling, apart from his appalling record, he's decidedly not a person who can get things done in a crisis. Nor is he capable of negotiating with anyone who doesn't share his opinions. It's profoundly depressing that the calibre of available politicians is so low that he could even be considered.

serenoa · 25/03/2019 07:36

The former Education Secretary? That Michael Gove? He's voted for every measure that's inflicted pain, injury, loss, misery, and even death on the people of this country. Just because he's currently giving a superficial impression of being a decent minister doesn't mean he's not a destructive Tory bastard. Look at what he's done not what he says.

The only Tory I can think of who might, possibly, make a passably decent prime minister, is Tobias Elwood. Even then I'd have to study his voting record and read his parliamentary contributions in detail before I went any further than that. I might be mistaken.

After the havoc and destruction Tories have wreaked on this country since 2010, just being a member of the party is a disqualification from public office, IMHO. I'm severely disabled and been homeless, through DWP failure, not my own fault, in recent years so have been on the sharp end of some it, though not nearly so badly as so many, many, more. I've survived so far; over 17,000 of we disabled people did not.

Michael Gove is still a Tory. Tory: the old Irish word for, originally, a highwayman, or a wanted man. A criminal. It fits.

I think some recent posters have missed the irony, the desperation, the black humour in the OP and many following posts!

he messed up when Education Secretary and was not liked.
i wouldnt choose him as PM.
Jeremy Hunt needs to grow up a bit more, he was good at Health Secretary.

bluebell34567 · 25/03/2019 08:28

no to Boris either. nor Jacob.

bluebell34567 · 25/03/2019 08:28

there is no one left.

ZippyBungleandGeorge · 25/03/2019 08:38

Definitely not. Fucked with education, fucked the justice system, beginning the downfall of prison safety add the piecemeal dismantling of the probation service, he cannot get his hands on the country. I genuinely would rather Boris and that's not something I thought I'd ever say. The only person worse would be Grayling.

Very likely. Seeing our government, and especially our prime minister, being such ignorant, incompetent, dishonest, venal, amoral fuckwits, mocked in the European Union Parliament*, and newspapers all over Europe and beyond, leaves little space or time for appreciation of subtle humour before the anger and frustration set in.

*Shouting is frowned on in the EU Parliament and moderators commonly use 'This isn't the House of Commons!' to make MEPs behave.

longwayoff · 25/03/2019 11:19

O serenoa, it's humour born of despair I promise, as none of this total mess is remotely funny.

@longwayoff

I know, I feel the same. I wish I could have taken part in the demo on Saturday, it would have cheered me up, but I can't do that stuff any more. I've done my share over the years, there have just been too many years!

What does cheer me up, is seeing so many young people organising the opposition to the government that the Official Opposition can't/won't. I was thinking if a new referendum does happen the voting age should be 16; after Saturday I think it should be 14. Smile
