So trustworthy and dependable. So profound, 'we've had enough of experts'. Such an obvious choice really at a time of national crisis. Words fail me.

OP posts:

Amber Rudd, principles?

She showed her principles at the Home Office right enough. Or have we already forgotten Windrush?

Alsohuman · 24/03/2019 08:52

Windrush was May’s fuck up, Rudd just inherited it. She’s drawn a halt to the roll out of universal credit. That’s principled in my book.

BikeRunSki · 24/03/2019 08:52

@Littlefish and other educationalists. He’s now Minister for the Environment . I work for Defra. Let me “assure” you that the environment is being as royally Gove-d as education.

GabrielleNelson · 24/03/2019 08:53

The LibDems have done themselves no favours by their vigorous support of self-ID for trans people and their utter failure to grasp that there are serious risks to women's rights and safeguarding concerns for children which need discussion and resolution. All the parties fall down on this, which is IMO because they haven't bothered to find out more about what they're supporting, but the LibDems, Greens and Labour are particularly bad. The Tories marginally less bad but of course they are the architects of austerity and Brexit so I can't vote for them either.

I also feel totally disenfranchised politically.

alwaystimeforcakeandtea · 24/03/2019 08:54

There MUST be someone, anyone better than Gove!

LucheroTena · 24/03/2019 08:54

Odious weird little man with nutjob wife who makes Cherie Blair look serene.

If they want to survive as an electable party (and remember the only reason they’re clinging onto power is because of Corbyn, who will soon be gone), they need to reform. None of the lot that promoted Brexit should be put into this role. They need a clean sweep at cabinet level.

pepinana · 24/03/2019 08:56

Got a friend who works at the home office and she said rudd was a nasty piece of work who treated her staff dreadfully.

pepinana · 24/03/2019 08:57

My vote goes to Lidington, at least he's a remainer.

BlackForestCake · 24/03/2019 08:57

If they actually want a leader who will lose an election to Jeremy Corbyn, Gove is the man.

Acis · 24/03/2019 09:01

Why Gove? Chris Grayling is the obvious candidate.

So trustworthy and dependable.

His wife's a real charmer too. Claiming on twitter that you need a womb to be a mother and that people who adopt are 'parents but not mothers'.

Most of these people should be in prison. The state of British politcs right now is f*ing appalling.

campion · 24/03/2019 09:03

GabrielleNelson I totally agree about Jeremy Corbyn. Why wasn't he at the march yesterday? Labour is as much in the wilderness as the Tories, both seemingly hell-bent on ruining the country for 'the will of the people'. Or some people.

They're more interested in their own votes at the next GE than what's good for the country. V depressing.

TowelNumber42 · 24/03/2019 09:06

Gove is hated. Gove is a leaver. Tories know Gove can't win an election.

What Gove can do is call a second referendum where anyone else could not.

The brexiteers will accept it better from him. Then right after the result of the referendum, the party changes leadership, then we have a general election.

Gove can campaign hard for Leave with No Deal in the new referendum. I reckon that will potentially give his career a boost for speaking, writing etc. Win for him to do it.

This is my prediction (or vain hope perhaps).

Spiritinabody · 24/03/2019 09:06

Michael Gove? Trustworthy and dependable? Do you think Boris Johnson would agree with that description? If he betrayed his good friend then goodness only knows what he is capable of.

BertrandRussell · 24/03/2019 09:08

JRM has said he has no interest in the role “But if my friends ask me......”

pepinana · 24/03/2019 09:10

How are people not getting that the op is ironic?!

CherryPavlova · 24/03/2019 09:14

Give is bright, witty, energetic.....and a rattlesnake.

My money is on Mr Hunt with a c.

malificent7 · 24/03/2019 09:18

Gove is ruthlessly efficient. He'd get the job done pronto...and some. I don't necessarily think that's a good thing.
Hste what he did for education but as environoment minister he has made some positive changes. Banning microbeads. So funny to hear him wax lyrical about bees....ametc. You know he dosn't really give a shit but will deliver to further his career.

malificent7 · 24/03/2019 09:19

Typos...as usual sorry

Alsohuman · 24/03/2019 09:23

I think we do get that the OP is ironic - the intelligence on this thread is pretty obvious - it’s still an interesting discussion, no?

BlackForestCake · 24/03/2019 09:25

It could be Johnson. He is the only one with both the savvy and the complete lack of principle. If you think he can't win you probably also thought Trump couldn't win.

RabbityMcRabbit · 24/03/2019 09:27

Still reaping the benefits of his education policy
Fucking this with brass knobs on. The man is an utter self-serving creep. No no no.

Holidayshopping · 24/03/2019 09:29

What Gove can do is call a second referendum where anyone else could not.

Why?

Dontgiveamonkeys1350 · 24/03/2019 09:30

I would never vote for the conservatives with Gove in charge. Not a chance. But to be honest at this point I wouldn’t vote for any of them.

pepinana · 24/03/2019 09:33

I think we do get that the OP is ironic - the intelligence on this thread is pretty obvious - it’s still an interesting discussion, no?

I was referring to the posters not getting it, not objecting to the discussion.
