And cross everything I have that anyone vaguely interested in remaining signs it? Don’t know how accurate this is but vince cable tweeted from the march earlier and said 60 per cent now in favour of remaining. No idea of the accuracy of those stats (or any, stats were wrong in June 2016) but surely remaining is better than this shit storm?

I'd like a deal to be finalised, then there should be am unbiased report published that clearly defines what the pro/cons are if we leave and what they are if we remain. No lies. No campaigning. No celebrity or politicians opinions. No mud slinging. Just the hard facts, considered by the public then we vote again.

AlexaAmbidextra · 23/03/2019 22:27

The major broadsheets seem to disagree with you, thankfully

The major broadsheets predicted that the result of the referendum would result in a remain vote so I wouldn’t set too much store by them now.

keepforgettingmyusername · 23/03/2019 22:30

'YABU for going on about it. Change the fucking record for Christ's sake. I'm sick of hearing and reading about Brexit. I don't care which side you're on. IDGAF.'

I suggest you sign the petition to remain then, as if we do leave the EU negotiations and discussions about Brexit are estimated to continue for the next 5-10 years.

CoachBombay · 23/03/2019 22:39

I voted remain, but if this is what politics has become, I will spoil every ballot paper till the day I die with the words "David Cameron Destroyed the UK" being not even thirty yet, I'll have a few years of doing so.

It will change nothing, I know, it will make no difference.

The people were told by David Cameron this was a "once in a generation vote" they were then told by May "we will leave on March 29th, deal or no deal"

And here we are...politicians are known to lie, but to do so on such a large scale and betray an entire nation is unforgivable in my opinion.

Leave won, it was done in 2016. We should accept it and move on. I know my opinion is unpopular but there you go. At least I'm entitled to that an unpopular opinion 🤷

shitholiday2018 · 23/03/2019 22:48

Whatsername7 - that sounds like a plan.

On a lighter note, if you want something to do while you're waiting for the petition signatories to tick up, have a look at the 'rejected petitions' on the website. There are some truly daft ones!

The major broadsheets predicted that the result of the referendum would result in a remain vote

Did they?
Telegraph is a broadsheet, yes? They predicted Leave would win in March 2016.

Guardian is a broadsheet, yes?
April 2016 reported 43% for Leave vs. 39% for Remain.

What strikes me in looking at those polling results is... the high % of undecided. Lots were undecided until last minute.

Britain is heading for Brexit, predicted the Fin Times March 2016.

Google search is failing to turn up any coverage in The Times about Brexit in Jan-June 2016.

shitholiday2018 · 23/03/2019 23:04

Screaming that’s very funny - im checking it obsessively, that might calm me down!

Screaming, taking your advice. I came across ‘government should end experimenting on dogs’. I thought they were experimenting on us, not dogs.

I'm just sorry we didn't get the chance to support "Get heat lamps in the smoking area of the crowborough cross wetherspoons"

I will be cursing the petitions committee if I ever find myself in Crowborough Cross in the winter and fancy a pint and a fag.

Numptysod · 23/03/2019 23:32

@Deadringer people are Defo sheep 🐑

dustyparadeground · 23/03/2019 23:37

Petition will pass the 5 million mark very soon. Elvis is alive and works in a chip shop near me. Now about those faked moon landings. And when did Paul McCartney die exactly?

CoachBombay · 23/03/2019 23:43

I would put the paper chain party decorations up just yet. The dastardly conservatives are planning a coup, and Gove very much like gollum is after his precious...number 10...

Nat6999 · 24/03/2019 00:50

How can we ever trust that the questions on the ballot paper are the right ones? After all the lies & manipulation that has gone over the last two years, I've lost all trust on Brexit. I haven't lost trust in the Labour party on domestic issues because my Labour MP has been helping me with disability benefits & she has been amazing, without her help I don't think that I would have won my case & she has really given the Assessment service providers & DWP a telling off, as well as reporting them to the Parliamentary teams that deal with benefits for further investigation. I think it's time for a General election & a fresh start, too much has gone on with this government, trust has been lost.

Hotterthanahotthing · 24/03/2019 00:57

The people's vote would be bound to turn a remain win.If it was a straight in or out who knows but the 3 way option proposed splits the leave vote.

SkintAsASkintThing · 24/03/2019 01:59

They need to do a revote and rig the hell out of it so we remain.

The whole thing was a stupid idea and should never have been put to a clueless nation to vote on.

IceRebel · 24/03/2019 07:40

Gove very much like gollum is after his precious...number 10...

This made me laugh, even though the situation isn't at all funny.

ScreamingValenta · 24/03/2019 09:56

Waiting for it to hit 5 million now.

4,887,350

So not far to go.

Namenic · 24/03/2019 12:40

@Hotterthan - AV voting would not split the leave vote. People can put the options in a preference order

LegalEaglesNeeded · 24/03/2019 14:19

Over five million now.

dustyparadeground · 26/03/2019 13:30

Nearly 6m ...but what next?

JugglingMadly · 27/03/2019 17:19

Petition seems to be static nowConfused
