And cross everything I have that anyone vaguely interested in remaining signs it? Don’t know how accurate this is but vince cable tweeted from the march earlier and said 60 per cent now in favour of remaining. No idea of the accuracy of those stats (or any, stats were wrong in June 2016) but surely remaining is better than this shit storm?

I fear we are headed to a no deal exit.

Funnily enough, I think that they will revoke.

Bluntness100 · 23/03/2019 16:08

Nah it's not no deal, the house is against it, that's fairly mucha given. Don't worry.

On a personal level I think a second referendum is a terrible idea. We should never have been asked in the first place, and the British public don't understand it enough to decide. So we can't compound the error by asking again.

shitholiday2018 · 23/03/2019 16:08

Most people I know are utterly bored and not interested in politics generally enough to care. It’s so depressing.

Thatcher thought she was bullet proof too until the grey men in suits unanimously told her to go. I know May can’t be no confidenced again but there are other ways. I imagine it was thought to be career death when Churchill took over from Chamberlain.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 23/03/2019 16:10

Be careful what you wish for

I am not so sure a second referendum would change the result

Two public votes for leave would be even worse

shitholiday2018 · 23/03/2019 16:12

Enthusiasm - it would feel better because there would not be the underlying feeling that people were taken advantage of when they were fed incorrect info first time round. There has been enough info on that now for people to understand that our NHS will not get extra money and they can’t hang their vote on that bullshit. I agree that they may hang it on other bullshit, but at least there is more info out there.

BoneyBackJefferson I very much hope you’re right, but if they do revoke I think she’ll have to call a GE and as TM has already said she won’t lead the Tories into the next one, I suspect they’ll pick a full on brexiteer as leader who will just trigger it again.

That sentence was too long.

But she legally cannot be forced out for a set amount of time which I can't remember for the life of me.

And given how unpopular she is with not only the public, her party, a failed election which saw her paying the DUP for crumbs, I really doubt that she is going to leave.

I do see where you are coming from. As the great Pratchett said "Interesting times".

themoomoo · 23/03/2019 16:18

not limited to the utter drivel written on the side of buses
christ almighty, and they call leavers thick

Bluntness100 · 23/03/2019 16:20

She wouldn't have to call a general election if she revoked, as she would only do it based on the instruction from parliament.

However I feel she would resign likely so there would be a leadership contest.

Oysterbabe · 23/03/2019 16:22

I don't want another vote, I just want it cancelled. If Mrs Brown's Boys being voted the best sitcom of the 21st century has taught us anything, it's that the British public shouldn't be allowed to vote for stuff.

JacquesHammer · 23/03/2019 16:25

I don’t believe we should have another referendum. From being heartily in favour of a second referendum, I now believe the only sensible course of action is to revoke Article 50.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 23/03/2019 16:27

Oh right you think there will be no more lies or twists of truth or manipulation

It will absolutely step up on both sides

This is nothing new is politics

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 23/03/2019 16:29

I agree revoke Article 50

Though many MP’s who votes for A50 and have since pushed to remain I strongly believe should resign

keepforgettingmyusername · 23/03/2019 16:30

I think most MPs would prefer to revoke at this stage than go through another referendum. But this last few weeks have been full of surprised, so it's anyone's guess what will happen. If MV3 does go ahead, and is voted down, it would seem likely that TM steps down, parliament takes control of Brexit and Brexit is revoked. The EU aren't going to let us crash out just as easily as a lot of people, including TM, seemed to think.

Alsohuman · 23/03/2019 16:30

It’s completely new. It’s the biggest shambles in living memory.

Angelf1sh · 23/03/2019 16:32

Whether she calls a GE or just resigns, I think the outcome will be the same. They’re not going to replace her with anyone other than a brexiteer who’ll trigger it with a view to no deal. I’ve never really supported a second referendum (I don’t think this kind of thing should be decided by the public), I’ve always wanted them to just protect us from ourselves and cancel it, but I think the only way to stop the risk of retriggering is to get the legitimacy of the “will of the people” (🙄) behind revoking Art50. A second referendum of course risks a second leave vote but if that happens then we’re stuck with it.

It’s all a bit beyond predicting though 🤷🏼‍♀️

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 23/03/2019 16:33

It’s completely new that the public have been lied to

What’s different in recent years is social media and the impact which would have impacted millennials the most those who voted the least

Lying politicians, twisting truths, play on words (the bus) is nothing new

Deadringer · 23/03/2019 16:37

I often ponder that if the media had called it Bremain instead of Brexit it the vote might have gone the other way. People are sheep. Yanbu.

Namenic · 23/03/2019 16:40

The only developed options are: wa, Norway (because a country already has this deal and we will follow most rules anyway), remain and no deal.

Govt’s fault for not trying any other agreement. Put this to 2nd referendum using av system.

That way the winner will be something out of these that commands majority support. This is NOT undemocratic as people are divided on which version of leave and people will rank them in different orders. ‘Leave means leave’ is a stupid slogan because this is exactly what has led to parliamentary deadlock. If you think: no deal, Wa, Norway, remain - fair enough, imo will be terrible for country, but at least displays understanding. no deal then abstain would also be understandable.

LeSquigh · 23/03/2019 16:49

YABU. Most of us who voted decided we wanted to Leave and if this wish isn’t carried out there will be civil disorder in the streets and I will be involved in that in any way that I can. You cannot keep voting until the outcome of the few is desired, what utter madness.

Whilst I agree that the government have made a right fucking hash of this I wouldn’t change my vote and if it’s no deal then so be it.

If we are forced into European elections I will purposely spoil my ballot paper in protest. Vince Cable is talking out of his backside, we voted to leave and leave we should.

JacquesHammer · 23/03/2019 17:01

out there will be civil disorder in the streets and I will be involved in that in any way that I can

Oh please. Like all the people who’ve been involved with the “pro-Brexit” marches?

There won’t be civil unrest for a minute. And what a puerile reason to carry on with throwing the country under a bus “a handle of knuckle-draggers are threatening lobbing a rock through a window”.

Angelf1sh · 23/03/2019 17:04

Doing anything at all to appease people threatening criminal offences if they don’t get their own way, seems like a bad idea to me.

Windowsareforcheaters · 23/03/2019 17:05

we wanted to Leave and if this wish isn’t carried out there will be civil disorder

When leave voters get offended because people call them 'stupid' or 'thick' please remember many leave voters make comments like this.
