How about the guy who was given the actual job of negotiating with the EU?

David Davis, arch-Brexiteer, minister for Exiting the EU. Went into negotiations without any papers. Ran away when it all got hard.

PerkingFaintly · 20/03/2019 13:11

(That was in reply to Hamsternauts.)

Camomila · 20/03/2019 13:13

I'm not saying the UK can't leave, I was just answering that not everyone who voted remain voted because of project fear, some voted because they like the EU as a concept.

Though of course there is the whole thing about the legality of the leave campaign...

BorisBogtrotter · 20/03/2019 13:15

I don't see how the EU can possibly be to blame, they are sticking to exactly what was said prior to the vote, there is no better deal than membership and to have full access to the single market you need to adopt the 4 freedoms.

May's red line which pandered to the ERG and to leavers prevented a deal that would have acceptably met the result of the referendum.

themoomoo · 20/03/2019 13:15

unicorns, sunnyuplands, big bus, racism, thicko's. Christ it's tiresome

BorisBogtrotter · 20/03/2019 13:16

yup, and leavers pretending they are victims when they sling insults around like confetti is too.

themoomoo · 20/03/2019 13:18

and leavers pretending they are victims when they sling insults around like confetti is too
this always makes me laugh.
The vast vast majority of insults are directed at leavers. the vast majority

Alsohuman · 20/03/2019 13:22

Really?

BorisBogtrotter · 20/03/2019 13:23

Except remoaners and traitros.

Its not an insult critique things dearie.

"unicorns, sunnyuplands,"

Valid critique, no risks of leaving were ever dealt with by the leave campaign, just everything will be better.

" big bus,"

On the side of which was written the main tenet of the campaign, the one that featured in all the posters. Valid to critique.

"racism,"

Farage poster, lies about the impacts of immigration, Turkey joining adverts with their implications. Valid critique. #

"Thick"

Stupid is as stupid does. The outcome of what you voted for is here, going well isn't it?

themoomoo · 20/03/2019 13:26

Turkey joining adverts with their implications
] are Turkish people are a protected race?Who knew hey? I always assumed they were European in origin.

Stupid is as stupid does and there we go again.
the worst remainers get is remoaners. Not quite the same, is it?

BorisBogtrotter · 20/03/2019 13:30

The implied thing about Turkey joining was obvious, more brown faces and more muslims. People on MN going " I fear for my daughters" etc etc.

So yes racist.

"the worst remainers get is remoaners"

And Traitors, Quislings etc.

You voted for this shit storm, and dismissed any warnings. It was stupid.

themoomoo · 20/03/2019 13:34

The implied thing about Turkey joining was obvious, more brown faces and more muslim
well that may be how you viewed it, but I didn't

BorisBogtrotter · 20/03/2019 13:41

Then you are very naive, or ( as is most likely) pretending to be.

The Turkey joining issue was a targeted part of the campaign, it stoked fears about immigration.

Racist.

themoomoo · 20/03/2019 13:47

Racist
nice; and it's the leavers throwing insults around is it?

time4chocolate · 20/03/2019 13:49

The implied thing about Turkey joining was obvious, more brown faces and more muslims. People on MN going " I fear for my daughters" etc etc

No just your perception.

I get a bit pissed of when people play the racist card as above but then are quite happy to be part of a 'club' which gives 27 countries (based predominantly of white citizens) FOM and first refusal on jobs whilst content for many citizens from around the world and predominantly of other ethnic origins to get in a separate queue and jump through a different set of hoops to work here.

BorisBogtrotter · 20/03/2019 13:54

Not at all, there were lots of posters here who when talking about Turkey joining in regard to the Cologne attacks.

The crap you just spouted about the EU being racist is laughable, FOM is based on reciprocation and agreed by all members. Its not racist.

However, basing part of the campaign on stoking fear about a country who has a different religion in the majority joining ( and others where people are a different colour) was.

AIBU to ask Leavers if this is what you voted for?
BorisBogtrotter · 20/03/2019 13:55

Oh and the "breaking point" poster.

Racist.

So yes its fine to use these points if they are accurate, and they are.

AmaryllisNightAndDay · 20/03/2019 13:55

the request to extend is going in so nothing to look forward to or dread on 29th? Am I wrong?

The EU don't have to say yes. If they say "no" to the request then I guess we're looking at an uprepared-for no-deal Brexit on 29th. I rather suspect (though this is pure speculation on my part) that some extreme Brexiteers are hoping for that - no deal and they can blame the EU for it. And I don't know how likely that is in reality, but then neither does anyone else, including Mrs May as far as I can tell. Wait and see.

I'd like a dummy's guide to what the hell is going on with Brexit, please.

I've been going by <a class="break-all" href="https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-46318565?intlink_from_url=www.bbc.co.uk/news/topics/cwlw3xz0lvvt/brexit&link_location=live-reporting-story" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">this. It's BBC, pretty factual, updated regularly. It doesn't predict much about what will happen next which is a plus because so far most predictions have turned out to be wrong.

time4chocolate · 20/03/2019 13:57

The crap you just spouted about the EU being racist is laughable, FOM is based on reciprocation and agreed by all members. Its not racist.

Is it laughable? Doesn't matter whether it's reciprocal or not. Let's level the playing field and have the same rules for everyone, you'd be happy with that right?

themoomoo · 20/03/2019 14:02

boris I have reported your post where you call me a racist.

Biker47 · 20/03/2019 14:04

As long as we leave the EU on the 29th, I'll be happy.

BorisBogtrotter · 20/03/2019 14:05

I think you'll find I called the campaign racist.

Poor little victim you.

"Let's level the playing field and have the same rules for everyone, you'd be happy with that right?"

Of course, I'd be happy with FOM for everyone, but I don't think the breaking point campaign or Turkey joining fears were based on that. This is an attempt to invert the argument but it doesn't work.

Oh and bringing in the "queue jumper" narrative, the least said about that the better.

themoomoo · 20/03/2019 14:07

I think you'll find I called the campaign racist
i think we both know what you were saying

BorisBogtrotter · 20/03/2019 14:13

Not at all I never said it was YOU, I said it was valid to criticise the campaign as racist.

If you look at the narrative of the posts it does exactly that.

BorisBogtrotter · 20/03/2019 14:14

Still.

This is what you voted for.
