In what way has May tried to appease Remainers? She has roundly ignored them ever since the referendum.
Yup. Absolutely.

MissGiddyPants · 20/03/2019 15:27

I quite liked the autocorrect of pleasuring. Grin

It was something she said about her negotiated deal being the best thing for both leavers and remainers.

BorisBogtrotter · 20/03/2019 15:27

I love the blaming of May appeasing the remainers.

Everything has been pandered to the leave side, but they don't like anything she does because it can't match the reality of what was promised. You can't turn round to those that voted for you and say, well actually what we said was far fetched and we are happy with this.

FishesaPlenty · 20/03/2019 15:47

What has made me chuckle recently - I've seen news articles about lorry drivers saying they will block major UK motorways if leaving on the 29th is delayed.

Identical (except for the towns and road names) 'announcements' sent by 'local groups' to newspapers all over the country.

I'm in the transport industry and I can tell you now that this will have less of an impact than Frage's stupid march from Sunderland.

Most truck-drivers don't have the freedom to decide where they're driving their trucks - they're employees. And those who do have the freedom have got better things to to than to cost themselves hundreds of pounds and risk losing their O licences by pratting about blocking motorways on one of the busiest transport days of the year.

I understand this is the work of that dick from N Wales who started the fuel protests a few years back. Nice chap www.dailypost.co.uk/news/north-wales-news/a55-brexit-demo-leader-used-15996012

DarlingNikita · 20/03/2019 15:55

I also want to increase the diversity of immigration to the UK (which is currently impeded by immigrants from EU countries having priority when competing for what are acutely finite spaces).

Diversity of immigration is not 'impeded' by EU incomers having priority as much as it is by the simple facts of geography.

And 'spaces' in the UK are not finite, 'acutely' or otherwise. It's not a zero-sum game.

ValeurNutritive · 20/03/2019 16:00

Leave voters absolutely voted for the current mess. It isn't entirely their fault as the whole referendum was woefully conducted. I appreciate that the Leave campaign was deliberately vague about what Brexit would look like, but they really should have had some sort of realistic blueprint for negotiations, even if they wanted to have their cake and eat it by suggesting the blueprint could be amended in all sorts of ways.

Even that isn't entirely the fault of the Leave campaign. Most of the blame should be on David Cameron and anyone else who thought we could rush through a token referendum in the expectation that Remain would easily win.

longwayoff · 20/03/2019 16:26

Tudsk has just said that a short extension can only be granted if TMs current deal has been accepted in parliament. Nobody happy then.

OP posts:
twofingerstoEverything · 20/03/2019 16:29

It was something she said about her negotiated deal being the best thing for both leavers and remainers.
She has 'said' a lot of things, though, including 'Brexit means Brexit'. Her actions say something else, however. If she was trying to 'appease' remainers and leavers, she would have at least talked about Canada, Norway, Norway Plus etc., rather than just throw down a load of red lines, all of which were designed to pander to the Eurosceptics.

themoomoo · 20/03/2019 16:41

You playing the victim card is hilarious
not playing the victim card at all, just disgusted to be called a racist by a person ignorant of any of my views

time4chocolate · 20/03/2019 16:43

Tusk has just said that a short extension can only be granted if TMs current deal has been accepted in parliament. Nobody happy then

So how is that supposed to happen then if Bercow says she can't bring it back to parliament in its present form again. Stale mate.

DarlingNikita · 20/03/2019 16:59

No one individual was called racist. The poster campaign was called racist.

themoomoo · 20/03/2019 17:00

darlin sigh
s/he knew exactly what s/he was saying and implying, further sigh

DelilahfromDenmark · 20/03/2019 17:04

I would genuinely like to know what it is Leavers thought they were voting for and how they thought the end game would be reached.
Because the government seem not to know and I don’t think any opposition would be any more competent within the same parameters in which the current government are working.
Honest genuine question.

themoomoo · 20/03/2019 17:07

Delilah I dunno. but I would hazard a guess that they wanted to leave the EU? maybe? What do you think?

DarlingNikita · 20/03/2019 17:09

themoomoo, either you have comprehension problems or you were being deliberately provocative.

Have MNHQ been on yet to delete the post that offended you so...?

BoneyBackJefferson · 20/03/2019 17:10

DelilahfromDenmark

They voted to leave the EU, maybe they thought that the government would sit around a table and work out the details before they jumped the shark.

KennDodd · 20/03/2019 17:10

We have no good options left. I think this is the best of a bad bunch.

Please share if you can.

Prequelle · 20/03/2019 17:11

I'm remain but seriously, the attitude of remainers to leavers is appalling and I'm sorry to say the vast majority of the insults comes from them. It's normal to be angry we didn't get our way, but the vitriol needs to stop. And OP don't complain about what leavers are saying when you INVITED them.

longwayoff · 20/03/2019 17:18

Dominic Grieve and I are in agreement. This is unheard of. He just made an impressive speech in parliament of interest to us all. TM making announcement later. General Election?

OP posts:
havingtochangeusernameagain · 20/03/2019 17:19

But what Mrs May is putting forward is leave. The EU have already agreed to it and if Parliament had voted for it then we'd be gone on the 29th job done. The politicians who didn't vote for it were a mix of politicians who want to remain and politicians who want to leave but didn't like the way we were leaving because of Irish backstop etc

This is true. I've just said on another thread that I was naive about this, I thought deal meant job done. I voted to stay in the UK, but I could have lived with the WA as it is only the beginning. I don't understand why MPs would rather push us off a cliff edge and am fed up of them playing chicken with our lives.

Well actually I do know why.

ERG - no deal means they and their mates can make lots of money

Libdems are remain

SNP are remain, and a no deal means a stronger likelhood of Scotland dissolving the union.

Labour just want to give the Tories a bloody nose

DUP won't do anything helpful

Sinn Fein don't take their seats.

And a few sensible ones.

So you're left with a horrible alliance of self-interest. It's not about you, you useless MPs, it's about US - 60 odd million people living in these islands (plus the Irish) who you are sacrificing. AAAAAGGGGGGHHHHHHH!

havingtochangeusernameagain · 20/03/2019 17:20

I voted to stay in the EU! Even more AAAAGGGGHHHH.

mummymeister · 20/03/2019 17:22

prequelle I agree.

longwayoff a general election would be the worst of all options. I really hope it doesn't happen.

themoomoo · 20/03/2019 17:25

either you have comprehension problems or you were being deliberately provocative
my comprehension is fine thank you: unlike that of the vocal remainers on here who feel the need to ask the same questions over and over again.
Do you need it spelling out in words of one syllable?

Spartasprout · 20/03/2019 17:33

In the leaver northern regions we'd love a general election to rout out the traitors. Grin
