I have started watching Turn Up Charlie. I think he would be great as Bond. Bit of a departure what with the East End accent and looking (struggling to say what I mean accurately here) . A bit rough around the edges looking rather than polished if you see what I mean. And yes. He is a non minger crush of mine😀! Or a woman. Suggestions?

Kit Harrington is a bit hobbit-y I think.

ScrambledSmegs · 18/03/2019 12:15

I've seen Theo James stroking his car. Literally. Not like you would a much-loved pet. More lascivious than that.

It ruins everything you ever see him in once you've witnessed that. Imagine Bond stroking the Aston Martin like a tiny pervert. Not good.

WeepingWillowWeepingWino · 18/03/2019 12:19

I've said upthread that I think Irish actors would be OK at a push, though I still think it should be a Brit in an ideal world.

Kit Harrington is far too young and too associated with GoT.

TheLastNigel · 18/03/2019 12:21

I was coming on to say Richard madden. He is short but they could stand him on a box or something.

TheLastNigel · 18/03/2019 12:23

Cillian murphy?
Hiddleston incomes himself or of the running when he has that ill advised 24 hours as Taylor swifts t shirt wearer..

ExileinGuyville · 18/03/2019 12:31

Matthew Goode is tall, dark, and handsome, he'd convince as urbane yet deadly.

Mother87 · 18/03/2019 12:33

Another one here willing to wash Michael FassbenderGrin

Petalflowers · 18/03/2019 12:34

“You want someone who looks like he could shag you or headbutt you in a split second - or both. “

Love this summary of Bond.

HalfBloodPrincess · 18/03/2019 12:35

It’s a shame David Mitchell is of an older age - could quite imagine him as JB

steff13 · 18/03/2019 12:36

Henry Cavill

DanglyBangly · 18/03/2019 12:38

Idris is, regrettably, too old.

Daniel Craig has been great but he is also now too old - the last film was verging on creepy, the age gap to Lea Seydoux. He could’ve benn her dad.

Theo James anyone?

WeepingWillowWeepingWino · 18/03/2019 12:38

Petal so that really is Tom Hardy. Who is never going to be Bond.

Most of these suggestions are still too famous! Or the actor is too good an actor - why Chiwetel Ejiofor should contemplate playing Bond I can't think. He's a thespian.

steff13 · 18/03/2019 12:40

Maybe someone like Domhnall Gleeson, but he isn’t very action-y.

I really would like to see him as the next Doctor.

WeepingWillowWeepingWino · 18/03/2019 12:40

Dangly that's not really down to him being too old, but her being too young. I don't know if it's my age but I am really noticing the age gaps between men and women in films and TV. Alexander Skarsgard is about 20 years older than Florence Pugh (Little Drummer Girl), I don't know if that was true to the book but I felt it really detracted from the plot, I couldn't seem to get past it.

billydilly · 18/03/2019 12:42

James McAvoy?

ooooohbetty · 18/03/2019 12:43

Idris is gorgeous but too rough. That madden man would be perfect.

FuckertyBoo · 18/03/2019 12:45

Ooooh yes, I think Domnhall Gleeson would make a good Dr Who also. I think he’s very versatile though and could also see him as Bond.

ColeHawlins · 18/03/2019 12:47

Idris is too old.
Jamie is too slight.
Cillian is too weasely.

David Oyelowo is keen. He was talking himself up for it recently. I can get behind a "fifteen year older Danny-from-Spooks" in the role, I think.

HalfBloodPrincess · 18/03/2019 12:48

I’m still holding out for Noel Fielding as the next Doctor - he wouldn’t even need to do much acting Grin

ColeHawlins · 18/03/2019 12:49

Erm Confused The novelist? You can't mean the other one.

LakieLady · 18/03/2019 12:49

Did anyone see him in Locke. He's the only character in the film.

He was stunning in that. I couldn't take my eyes off the screen (which is odd, when you think it would have worked just as well as a radio play lol). I think he's too famous for Bond now.

Aidan Turner would be good, but he might be too famous now, too.

DanglyBangly · 18/03/2019 12:51

Taron Egerton?

Rumbletum2 · 18/03/2019 12:52

I can’t bear Idris Elba. I think he’s a terrible actor and he always seems incredibly big headed for some reason.

LadyPeterWimsey · 18/03/2019 12:52

Isn't Sam Heughan gay? It might be a step too far for the producers to cast a gay man as Bond.

Disfordarkchocolate · 18/03/2019 12:52

I'd love Taron Egerton.
