As the title says really, along with whether or not your vote would be different from last time.

OP posts:
FriendOrFaux · 15/03/2019 06:50

I voted Leave.
Said at the time it'll never happen and I agree with chipsforlife that the last two years have been a mess designed to lead us up to a second referendum.
Gives the illusion of democracy to keep the people happy ie we tried to leave but it's too difficult.
The EU never loses a second referendum.

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 15/03/2019 06:50

Yes
Remain

N0rdicStar · 15/03/2019 07:00

Friend blame Leavers then. They got a leave on the back of lies several of which couldn’t happen. They can’t agree on how to leave or produce a leave plan the entire country( Scotland and Ireland)and themselves as a whole would be happy with. If you base anything on lies it will come back to haunt you. Suspect USA will end up having to live with this realisation too eventually.

RickOShay · 15/03/2019 07:05

I voted Remain. Absolutely I would vote Remain again.

jarhead123 · 15/03/2019 07:08

Remain

TalkinPaece · 15/03/2019 13:38

Once the Leave supporters finally decide what sort of Brexit they want to ask the EU for
it might happen
but as they have been unable to agree on anything for the last 3 years
Article 50 should be revoked

Waveysnail · 15/03/2019 13:45

They should ask people of northern ireland if we want the backstop not the dup

StripeyChina · 15/03/2019 13:51

I agree that the last 2 years could almost have been 'designed' to lead us to a 2nd Ref.

If WA can be put to Parliament a 3rd time I do not see what is 'undemocratic' about asking voters to consider again, now that the realities are clearer, in an advisory referendum.

I am not keen on WA so only other option would be to Revoke.

I voted Remain.

StripeyChina · 15/03/2019 13:55

sorry posted too soon...

So ideally I'd like to remain but I'd prefer a more overwhelming 'leave' than this divisive mess we are in? it would be a farce, if it were not so tragic in terms of division, alienation and appalling squandering of resources.

BumbleBeee69 · 15/03/2019 14:02

I voted Leave.

I would vote Leave again.

Songsofexperience · 15/03/2019 14:10

The EU never loses a second referendum.

But TM asking parliament the same question 3 times is acceptable?

TheVanguardSix · 15/03/2019 14:11

With bells on I’d like a second referendum. Remain.

MissionItsPossible · 15/03/2019 14:22

@Trying2bemum
don't use the word we when you mean I. I knew what I was voting for. You might not have done.

But you didn't know. Nobody knows. That's the point. If you knew what you were voting for then you'll know what direction and state the EU will be in 5, 10 or 20 years time. Do you?

Trying2bemum · 15/03/2019 14:27

@MissionItsPossible hello 👋🏼 those were not my words - I was quoting another poster and basically pointing out the same thing - people voting leave didn't know what they were voting for. I'm in agreement with you and would like to remain in the EU.

MissionItsPossible · 15/03/2019 14:32

@Trying2bemum I'm a bit confused (quite normal, lol) because I'm saying the exact opposite to you, pointing out that people that voted Remain didn't know what they were voting for either because nobody can predict the future.

Youseethethingis · 15/03/2019 14:34

We need a referendum on whether to have a referendum and then another referendum on what the referendum question should be.

Trying2bemum · 15/03/2019 14:35

@missionitspossible Oh I see what you mean. I suppose there were more 'knowns' to stay in the EU than there were to leave. And all those unknowns (e.g. trade and movement of people and the Irish border) have proved thus far to be impossible to resolve outside of the EU.

Every time you vote you are voting for a moment in time really. In a general election you may vote Labour but that party could change beyond recognition in 5/10/20 years.

MissionItsPossible · 15/03/2019 14:53

I agree there were more knowns in staying rather than leaving, but I always think when I hear "people didn't know what they were voting for" people never know what they are voting for. Even with our own local MP's, we can vote for them if they have something we admire in their manifesto but we never know if they are actually going to act on it. Voting I guess is almost always unknown. Definitely agree with your last paragraph.

mummymeister · 15/03/2019 15:01

Trying2bemum - I voted to leave the EU. I didn't vote for a deal, a back stop, the customs union, the ECJ or anything else. I voted to be out of all of these things because that is the definition of "leave" surely. that you leave everything behind. Not cherry pick the bits and pieces that you like. If this was a relationship I wouldn't be saying to my ex partner "oh don't worry I will pop round every Tuesday and make dinner" and once a month come and mow your lawn. No, I would be gone.

The EU is currently looking at making some very big changes to bring ever closer union. how will these affect the EU? well we don't know because that is also an unknown. Rural funding budgets are being cut. that's a change that brings unknown consequences for the EU.

So yes, I do know EXACTLY what I voted for. to be out of the EU.

but, I am pragmatic. I recognise that we don't always get everything we want so would support TM's deal as a means to an end really. not because I like it but because its more out than we currently are.

Almost everyone wanting a second referendum is a remainer. because if they are honest they know that they don't want this for any other reason than to overturn the original result.

Mookatron · 15/03/2019 15:04

Bad example mummymeister. Wouldn't you want to know who gets the toaster, custody of the kids, and the contents of the joint account? Those are all the things you need to sort out in a divorce. To divorce without sorting those things out leaves you skint, lonely and with no toast.

TalkinPaece · 15/03/2019 15:05

mummymeister
So you want a No Deal Brexit with all that is implied for the UK economy, jobs and environment?
Why ?

KennDodd · 15/03/2019 19:13

Did somebody say no Leavers have changed their mind? Looks like there going to be a whole section of them at the march on the 23rd.

Trying2bemum · 15/03/2019 20:13

Fair enough mummy but that wasn't what was on the table at the referendum- they never defined what leave meant...

HairyToity · 15/03/2019 20:15

I would support a second referendum and vote remain.

RichPetunia · 15/03/2019 21:01

No, wouldn't support another vote. Just for the record I'm in Scotland and voted leave.
