To ask if you wear your rings or not?

Just curious. Mine come on and off all the time. I don't wear them at work as I have a physical job and there's too much of a danger of having them catch in something and losing a finger. (Seriously)
Sometimes it depends what I'm wearing and whether the rest of the jewellery that I have on matches them or not.

DH never takes his wedding ring off, but he's not bothered about whether I wear mine or not. I wouldn't be bothered if he didn't wear his either, however my not wearing mine all the time seems to get MIL very riled. So naturally I rarely wear them around her just because I know it pisses her off ;)

She used always give out about BIL's ex wife not wearing hers all the time and 'no wonder they split up'. They split up because BIL was shagging someone else, but as far as MIL is concerned, he can do no wrong. He never wore his either, but 'it's different for men' Hmm

I don’t wear mine all the time, I chop and change

Groovinpeanut · 16/02/2020 15:16

I've never taken my engagement ring off. Since getting married we've both always worn our wedding rings all the time. I've got an eternity ring too and that again is worn all the time. It's never really occurred to me to take mine off.

Never take mine off, unless I'm going to do a dangerous job. Platinum and diamond; very tough so a bit of soap or clacking them on a desk is not going to damage them. DH wears his all the time too, unless finger protection is paramount!

PinkiOcelot · 16/02/2020 15:22

DH hasn’t got a wedding ring. He doesn’t wear any jewellery at all, not even a watch.
I’m not wearing my rings at the minute. No particular reason, just took them off a few months ago and haven’t put them back on.

MrsItsNoworNotatAll1 · 16/02/2020 15:44

I never take it off except when I'm baking bread. Can't wear my engagement ring at work so I just wear it on a weekend. I've always worn rings anyway, I love them. Dh rarely takes his off.

DH wore his all the time. I lost mine and got a new one, but put on weight and it became too tight. When DH was dying, he took his ring off, put it on my finger, and kissed it, so I wore it right up until the end when I knew he didn't have long left, I put it back on his finger so he could die wearing it. I then got the nurses to remove it after and have worn it ever since - its huge on me so I have to wear a ring with a large stone setting in front of it to hold it in place.

My actual wedding and engagement rings are on a chain because they're too small. I have a beautiful substitute until I eventually (if ever) lost the baby weight. I wear it most days but take it off for walking the dogs, doing the washing up, other things around the house etc. It is a little loose when my hands are cold so would fall off if left on. I dropped it in the rubbish bin last night!

SargeantAngua · 16/02/2020 18:50

I lost my wedding ring outside for 24 hours back on December - my fingers seem to change size a lot with the temperature, and it was quite tight when we got married last June. Since then I've been wearing one of these every day until it gets warmer and I can trust the proper one not to fall off again. It's more comfortable with gloves on riding my mobility scooter too. I want to wear something, as we were already living together when we got married so life didn't change that much - it's a reminder of how much life has actually changed and how lucky I am.

Neither of us have ever taken our wedding rings off. I used to wear my engagement ring all the time too but sometimes my finger is swollen with arthritis it’s a struggle to get it on. My mum had the same problem and felt “naked” when her wedding ring got too small, she bought a bigger one.

Enchiladas · 16/02/2020 18:58

Mine only come off when I have a bath or do the washing up, I feel naked without them.

AnnaMariaDreams · 16/02/2020 19:00

DH always wears his.
I wear mine one or two days a week.
I can’t wear them for work and forget to put them on a lot too.

firstimemamma · 16/02/2020 19:06

My engagement ring only ever comes off if I am doing some messy baking / cooking or washing up. I love wearing it all the time.

RealBecca · 16/02/2020 19:25

I wear mine when i wear the others. All or nothing. Sometimes for months at a time, sometimes months without.

Not that your know though as we got married in secret, it doesn't look like a wedding ring and I don't wear it on my ring finger.

Husband doesn't have one.

LionelRitchieStoleMyNotebook · 16/02/2020 19:28

Take them off overnight and they don't go back on until after showering, don't wear them for gardening etc and have been known to take them off for particularly grim nappies, but generally I do and always when I'm leaving the house, other than when I was heavily pregnant and everything was swollen. However it doesn't matter, you and your DH are fine with how much you wear them, MIL can sod off.

undomesticgodde55 · 16/02/2020 20:03

I wear mine if I leave the house and want to wear it - I don’t make a habit if wearing it to walk the dog or go to work etc. A lot of people fine this strange as I only got engaged a few months back and think I should be showing it off - but to me my engagement ring cost my DP so much more than I would ever spend on a single item and is precious to me. I couldn’t bare to lose it/ruin it. My DP doesn’t mind at all he knows I lose stuff easily and knows my reasons for not wearing it every day.

SerenDippitty · 16/02/2020 20:05

Wedding ring never comes off. Engagement ring comes off at night.
