To ask if you wear your rings or not?

Just curious. Mine come on and off all the time. I don't wear them at work as I have a physical job and there's too much of a danger of having them catch in something and losing a finger. (Seriously)
Sometimes it depends what I'm wearing and whether the rest of the jewellery that I have on matches them or not.

DH never takes his wedding ring off, but he's not bothered about whether I wear mine or not. I wouldn't be bothered if he didn't wear his either, however my not wearing mine all the time seems to get MIL very riled. So naturally I rarely wear them around her just because I know it pisses her off ;)

She used always give out about BIL's ex wife not wearing hers all the time and 'no wonder they split up'. They split up because BIL was shagging someone else, but as far as MIL is concerned, he can do no wrong. He never wore his either, but 'it's different for men' Hmm

Yes, both of us all the time. Only take it off for baking or car repairs.

jiggsymalone · 13/03/2019 20:18

Neither DH or I ever really wear them.
DH has a physical job that he can't wear it for and I do a lot of rock climbing. We both got fed up putting them on and off all the time so both eventually just stopped putting them on. DH will sometimes put his on for special occassions but I don't usually bother.

anothernamereally · 13/03/2019 20:22

I don't think mine would come off easily they've been there for so long, no engagement ring though just wedding and eternity so don't really catch on anything

Floralnomad · 13/03/2019 20:22

We’ve been married 30 yrs this yr , dh hasn’t worn his ring since we came home from the honeymoon and I’ve not worn mine for about 15 yrs when I developed contact dermatitis . I can no longer wear any jewellery or watches .

thenewaveragebear1983 · 13/03/2019 20:22

I wear them if I'm going 'out out'.

Otherwise I leave them laid around the house/bathroom. Combination of previous work didn't really allow jewellery, then little children, then weightloss- they don't really work with my lifestyle. I keep meaning to get them resized, I do actually love wearing them, but I worry they'll fall off!

Harebel · 13/03/2019 20:23

The attitude of your MIL would have me not ever wearing them again in her company! Who the hell does she think she is dictating whether you should wear them or not.
I'd start a collection of outlandish oversized kitsch cocktail rings!

notsurewhatshappening · 13/03/2019 20:23

Only took them off for a week when I was considering a separation (had good reasons). Things are much better now. I love my rings Grin

TellerTuesday4EVA · 13/03/2019 20:23

I never take mine off - just a single wedding band I don't have an engagement ring. DH doesn't have one

KrazyKatlady · 13/03/2019 20:25

I wear my wedding ring all the time. I take off engagement ring to work as i work with machinery/tools which could damage it. I also take it off to wash up or unload the dishwasher, or messy cooking.DH wears his all the time unless doing DIY.

bellabasset · 13/03/2019 20:25

No I don't, but that's partly due to an allergic reaction. My wedding ring is 22 carat and my engagement ring is 18 carat and my watch is titanium. The first thing I do when I get home is to put keys in my bag any watch and rings in a glass bowl with a lid.

No one has ever thought it odd as my aunt had a similar allergy.

frugalkitty · 13/03/2019 20:25

I developed an allergy to my wedding ring, I haven't worn it in eleven years. Instead I wore the ring DH bought me after DS2, and a couple of years ago he bought me platinum versions of my original wedding and engagement rings, so I normally wear these. Sometimes though they feel too snug so I take them off. When I had to stop wearing the original I hated it at first, but these days I'll go without a ring and it doesn't bother me, I'm no less married fit not wearing one. DH wears his all the time though.

Myusernameismud · 13/03/2019 20:26

Both DH and I wear ours all the time. I only take it off for baking or when touching raw meat (which I avoid at all costs tbh).

I can't imagine ever not wearing them, because I love them so much. We chose all 3 of my rings and DH wedding band together. Maybe when I'm 50 I'll feel different about the style and only wear the wedding band, but I hope not.

Mother87 · 13/03/2019 20:30

Rarely wear mine... maybe if going on holiday/special occasion... but not always even then. DH wears his all the time

mindutopia · 13/03/2019 20:32

Neither of us ever really take ours off (occasionally I do when I wash someone’s poo out of their clothes...Hmm ).

But we put a lot of thought into our rings and made them very personal and special to us. So I think it seems weird not to wear them.

The only times I haven’t has been travelling in certain places where it isn’t advisable to wear flashy jewellery (work and other things occasionally take me to various developing countries). Not that they’re ‘flashy’ or expensive but they would attract enough attention that it’s not worth it.

RedRiverShore · 13/03/2019 20:33

Neither of us ever wear ours, married 34 years

peeree · 13/03/2019 20:33

I never wear one (20 years married) and DH doesn't have one either.

PolarBearDisguisedAsAPenguin · 13/03/2019 20:33

DH wears his when he leaves the house. Otherwise it sits with his wallet and car keys where he puts them when he comes indoors.

I sometimes wear mine but usually just my eternity ring and sometimes none.

MumW · 13/03/2019 20:34

Never taken my wedding ring off.
Engagement & eternity ring come off for things like mixing pastry, gardening, hospital.

DH wears his most of the time but removes it for sport/diy

MrsExpo · 13/03/2019 20:35

Wear my wedding ring all the time. Engagement ring and eternity ring only on “going out” occasions as they’re too blingy for every day wear. I have horses and dogs and life can get far too messy for diamonds Smile.

FlagranceDirect · 13/03/2019 20:36

I haven't worn my wedding ring in 20 years, and it's the only ring I own. No engagement or eternity rings - it would be pointless spending money on things I won't wear. I find them irritating

itbemay1 · 13/03/2019 20:37

DH all the time, I have a work ring and my real ones, only wear real ones very occasionally. DH not bothered, I didn't wear one at all for a few years

thenightsky · 13/03/2019 20:38

My fingers swell up randomly so I took it off on my wedding night and have only worn it half a dozen times since (39 years of marriage). DH doesn't have a wedding ring (men's wedding rings weren't a 'thing' back when we got married).

Recently I've developed arthritis so my knuckles are too painful for pushing any rings over.

mozzarellasticks · 13/03/2019 20:38

Both wear ours all the time. Only take them off to shower (end up snagging in my hair!)

itbemay1 · 13/03/2019 20:38

My sil has never taken hers off, not even for washing etc... that'd drive me mad!

NCforthis2019 · 13/03/2019 20:39

Nope - I got mugged years ago and have been afraid to use it ever since. Only use it when I’m out with my husband.
