To ask if you wear your rings or not?

Just curious. Mine come on and off all the time. I don't wear them at work as I have a physical job and there's too much of a danger of having them catch in something and losing a finger. (Seriously)
Sometimes it depends what I'm wearing and whether the rest of the jewellery that I have on matches them or not.

DH never takes his wedding ring off, but he's not bothered about whether I wear mine or not. I wouldn't be bothered if he didn't wear his either, however my not wearing mine all the time seems to get MIL very riled. So naturally I rarely wear them around her just because I know it pisses her off ;)

She used always give out about BIL's ex wife not wearing hers all the time and 'no wonder they split up'. They split up because BIL was shagging someone else, but as far as MIL is concerned, he can do no wrong. He never wore his either, but 'it's different for men' Hmm

Wedding ring, yes.

Engagement ring, no. It’s a very ‘sticky outy’ claw setting and catches on everything. Beautiful but totally and utterly impractical.

DH has an office job and wears his wedding ring all the time.

BentNeckLady · 13/03/2019 20:43

I don’t wear mine and nor does Dh.

SerenDippitty · 13/03/2019 20:43

Engagement ring comes off at night but wear wedding band all the time. DH wears his all the time.

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 13/03/2019 20:44

Always, unless I'm going swimming, bathing or showering, or doing household tasks. They were meant to be worn!

toastonbean · 13/03/2019 20:45

My engagement ring is permanently on. It's actually not insured unless it's on my finger (or the finger of an immediate family member in the same room as me) or in a safe. So I just never take it off!

BerryMenthol · 13/03/2019 20:46

I'll have to name change now as this will be quite outing potentially but my DH caught his at work in the summer and ripped his ENTIRE finger off. It was luckily saved but it's fused in a slightly bent position, wonky, shorter and fatter Blush and just the whole thing was horrific!!!

I would now urge anyone who does any kind of work at any time with their hands to remove it

Bunnylady53 · 13/03/2019 20:47

I wear my wedding, engagement & eternity rings every day. Don’t swim or sleep in them but that’s about it

strawberrypenguin · 13/03/2019 20:47

I always wear mine. DH sometimes wears his but mostly doesn't. He finds jewellery uncomfortable and spent even wear a watch.
Doesn't bother me. I knew he wouldn't wear it before we got married but we liked the symbolism of exchanging rings.

DelilahfromDenmark · 13/03/2019 20:51

My DH always wears his. I wear mine occasionally, when I remember to put it on. I take it off a lot for sport and when putting handcream on etc.

And in fact it isn’t my original wedding ring. I get a new one every so often. My original rarely comes out of the safe. I’m petrified of losing it since I take rings on and off so regularly.
My SIL on the other hand has never taken hers off. She feels like her ring validates who she is. Whereas I see mine as merely symbolic. We are very different people.

LaBelleSauvage · 13/03/2019 20:56

YANBU. Your MIL sounds like a twat.

I wear mine but not all the time at work as I'm a medic. Do what works for you and DH... and maybe your MIL needs to unclench

Alsohuman · 13/03/2019 20:57

Neither of us has ever taken our wedding rings off since our wedding day. I usually wear my engagement and eternity rings too. My mum's wedding ring lives on my right hand.

GiveMummyTheWhizzer · 13/03/2019 21:21

I never take mine off (with the exception of the end of last year for a few months as I was heavily pregnant and my fingers got too fat Confused)

GiveMummyTheWhizzer · 13/03/2019 21:22

Oh and DH wears his all the time too.

We've never thought not to I guess 🤷🏻‍♀️

pickletickled · 13/03/2019 21:26

I wear my engagement and wedding rings all of the time, I rarely take them off (I really should though...damn you white gold, you tarnishy bastard!)
DH wears his all of the time too.
Neither of us has jobs where they'd need removing.

Mamadothehump · 13/03/2019 21:26

Married for 17 years and I wear my engagement, wedding and eternity rings every day. I do take them off after my shower every morning whilst I do my hair, make up etc and if I'm doing a "grubby" job at home. DH does manual labour but I don't think he's ever taken his off and had a huge indent in his finger. The ring is also pretty fucked but he likes wearing it (as do I) 😂

LadyOfTheFlowers · 13/03/2019 21:27

Never wore them. Lost weight and they got too big. Plus found I was constantly scratching the kids with them

beenhereages1 · 13/03/2019 21:42

I don't! I've gained a fair bit of weight over recent years and now my rings are abit tight Sad, so haven't worn them for a long time

DH doesn't wear his as he lost it on a dog walk Sad

Mumof1andacat · 13/03/2019 21:49

I wear them nearly all the time apart from at night and when I shower. I work in an office so can wear them at work. Dh does the same as me. I like them because I chose them and I want to wear them because of what the represent.

Gillian1980 · 13/03/2019 21:53

I wear mine 3/4 of the time I reckon. Not to bed or in shower etc. Sometimes if I’m in a hurry in the morning I just forget.

DH wears his all the time.

Zippetydoodahzippetyay · 13/03/2019 22:00

I only put mine on when I go out. I'm currently a stay at home Mum and never wear them around the house as I am always cleaning, changing nappies etc. mine are white gold and they need to rhodium plated every 6-12 months to keep them white. Hand cream, chemicals, water etc tarnish them quicker.

thedisorganisedmum · 13/03/2019 22:03

I work in an office, so I wear mine all the time. I wear my engagement ring on my right hand now, because I am left handed and it gets in the way, but I have my wedding ring and the ring for my first baby on my left hand.

I never take them off to wash my hands, I 'm too scared to forget them in a random bathroom one day.

TonightJosephine · 13/03/2019 22:04

I wear mine during the day but take them off at night, when I shower and when I exercise. If I'm not going out I often don't put them on.

Aroundtheworldandback · 13/03/2019 22:07

I only wear my wedding ring as feel self conscious wearing my engagement and eternity rings just keep them in the safe.

TemporaryPermanent · 13/03/2019 22:10

Took wedding engagement and eternity rings off quite soon after being widowed - a few weeks. Felt simultaneously sad and trapped whenever I looked at them. They are in a little pot in my bedroom where I don't have to look at them.

I had to choose whether dh should be buried in his wedding ring and signet ring. I chose to have them taken off in case ds ever wanted his dad's rings. I now can't look at them and can't imagine myself giving them to ds, but maybe time will change that.

Nogoodusername · 13/03/2019 22:11

DH hasn’t worn his for about 10 years I think. Tried for the first couple of years and just didn’t like it. I usually wear my eternity ring on my wedding finger when i’m home-based, and the wedding ring and engagement ring if i’m In the office or going out. Sometimes forget entirely though and have nothing
