To ask if you wear your rings or not?

Just curious. Mine come on and off all the time. I don't wear them at work as I have a physical job and there's too much of a danger of having them catch in something and losing a finger. (Seriously)
Sometimes it depends what I'm wearing and whether the rest of the jewellery that I have on matches them or not.

DH never takes his wedding ring off, but he's not bothered about whether I wear mine or not. I wouldn't be bothered if he didn't wear his either, however my not wearing mine all the time seems to get MIL very riled. So naturally I rarely wear them around her just because I know it pisses her off ;)

She used always give out about BIL's ex wife not wearing hers all the time and 'no wonder they split up'. They split up because BIL was shagging someone else, but as far as MIL is concerned, he can do no wrong. He never wore his either, but 'it's different for men' Hmm

DH always. I wear mine once or twice a week. I work in healthcare and can’t wear for work. I forget a lot as well.

AriadnePersephoneCloud · 13/03/2019 22:22

Wedding ring only. Its very simple and small and I love it. Engagement ring no. In fa tI don't even know where it is.... Probably won't tell DH that although he knows I don't wear it 😁 DH used to wear his wedding ring on a chain as he can't wear it at work. But the chain broke and that was that.

PlatypusPie · 13/03/2019 22:22

We both wear our weddings rings all the time - DH used to take it off for rowing but stays on all the time now. Took my engagement ring off when I had DD1 as I was worried that the high set solitaire diamond would catch and scratch her. Occasionally put it on for very dressy occasions but really hardly wore it, which it why it was at home when the flaming burglars struck. Used the insurance money to buy a beautiful watch that I wear daily and love.

BluebellCockleshell123 · 13/03/2019 22:24

Been married 15 years and have rarely taken off either engagement or wedding ring. So forgetful and careless that is probably lose them so better that they stay on my hand. I've got an office job so easy done.

BluebellCockleshell123 · 13/03/2019 22:26

And DH doesn't take his off either.

Don't really think about it to be honest. Not sure if it would bother either of us if the other didn't wear it all the time.

TheFlis12345 · 13/03/2019 22:30

My wedding ring has never been off my finger since our wedding ceremony. I take my engagement ring off for washing up etc but it goes straight back on afterwards, I feel weird without it.

BetsyBigNose · 13/03/2019 22:55

DH hasn't taken his off since our wedding day, 12 years ago - in fact I'm not sure he'd be able to these days...

I lost a stone from my engagement ring about 8 years ago so stopped wearing it - DH bought me an eternity ring for our following wedding anniversary, so I wear that along with my wedding ring instead.

I take them off in the bath or shower, if I go swimming, when drying my hair or if I'm exercising, as they are too big for me now (the eternity ring is the smaller of the two, so I wear that on top to keep the wedding ring in place), but they do have a habit of coming off when I remove gloves etc.!

I fiddle with them constantly though and there was one day when I forgot to put them back on after my morning shower and felt odd all day! Confused

bluegreygreen · 13/03/2019 23:23

Mostly on a chain round my neck - do a busy clinical job so washing my hands all the time

I will wear them on an office day

CosmicVaginaBiscuit · 14/03/2019 00:09

This made me giggle happymummy as it made me think of Mr T!
I'm not me or not dressed without all my gold on.

I have 2 wedding rings, one is very bling, I wear occasionally, the other I wear probably half the time.
Often I don't wear a wedding ring but I always wear it when away on work trips.

Sometimes I wear my engagement ring but it sticks out a bit and is bothersome.
I wear it on my right hand or instead of a wedding ring though as I hate hate more than one ring per finger. I will make an effort to wear it more though, I still remember the excitement of getting it.

Ouch to Beryl's poor husband!

Icantthinkofanameohno · 14/03/2019 00:10

We rarely wear ours. DHs is a bit loose now and I'm not a jewellery person

ThePlaceToVent · 14/03/2019 00:16

I wear mine all the time - it’s about £10,000 worth of bling 😂😂

DrBuckles · 14/03/2019 00:21

We both wear just our wedding rings.

I love my engagement ring but it’s annoyingly way too loose in the cooler months and then it has an indent that my skin seems to mold into and gets sore when my hands are hotter in the summer and seem to swell a bit Blush so I gave up.

Nonameslob · 14/03/2019 00:21

My MIL is the same about a ring my husband bought me for our 10th anniversary that I prefer to my engagement ring so wear instead. He couldn't care less but it drives her mad for some reason!

SrSteveOskowski · 14/03/2019 01:47

To everyone who mentioned it, yes, my MIL IS a twat.
It horrifies her enough that I rarely wear my rings, but the fact that I didn't change my name nearly tipped her over the edge altogether Grin

I never take mine off - wedding & engagement ring on one hand, eternity ring on the other. Still love them and have been married over 20 years

DH never takes his off either

rankoutsider · 14/03/2019 06:44

Jupiters · 14/03/2019 08:53

I never wear my engagement ring, as it's a family heirloom and I'm worried something will happen to it! I don't wear my wedding ring at work as I don't want to risk getting it caught on something (happened to one of my workmates and it was horrific).

Pinkarsedfly · 14/03/2019 08:58

When I was pregnant with my first my fingers swelled up and my midwife told me to take my rings off.

Cue outrage from my mother: ‘Doesn’t (XH) mind? Put them on a chain round your neck so people know you’re married!’

Hmm
BloodyDisgrace · 14/03/2019 10:25

When I worked in the office I used to wear a lot of rings (some of them wedding, engagement or "replacement of a wedding one", plus non-marital rings). I don't wear any rings at home, but put on at least 3 bands (engagement, wedding and a diamond eternity) when I go out, even to the shops.
Dunno, it's like putting my watch on when I go out. A habit.

SargeantAngua · 14/03/2019 11:35

I wear my engagement ring on a chain around my neck (wedding is in June) mainly because I have OCD which caused hand washing issues and I didn't want to damage it. I'm going to try to wear the wedding ring when I get it.

CustardCreamLover · 14/03/2019 11:39

I wore both my engagement ring and wedding ring all the time literally never took them off but when I was heavily pregnant they had to come off. I'm still a bit over my pre-pregnancy weight and they don't feel comfortable to wear so haven't had them on for nearly 8 weeks now. I miss wearing them they mean a lot to me. Husband rarely wears his these days because it's too small and has waisted his finger quite badly.

mastertomsmum · 14/03/2019 11:47

Several decades of marriage in here and I don't wear my actual wedding ring at all now as it interacts badly with eczema being a flat ring. I do wear my 5 yrs, 10 yrs, 20 yrs and 25 yrs rings as wedding rings but rarely my engagement ring.

Redrupunzle · 14/03/2019 11:52

I rarely wear mine, only for a night out or nice day trip out. My engagement ring I adore but was so expensive I worry about it and while that and my wedding band are both white gold for some reason my wedding ring irritates my eczema. I'm going to save up for a new wedding band and wear it for work. My husband never wears his, ever. He thinks he's lost it bit I found it a while back and I'm keeping it safe. Don't mind that he doesn't want to wear it, he's a farmer so by day it'd get damaged anyway

Hot4Holes · 14/03/2019 11:53

I never wear mine. Haven’t for years. It was a cheap ring that irritated my finger and we’ve never got round to replacing it.

Arowana · 14/03/2019 11:54

I never take mine off. DH rarely takes his off (as far as I know!).
