To ask if you wear your rings or not?

Just curious. Mine come on and off all the time. I don't wear them at work as I have a physical job and there's too much of a danger of having them catch in something and losing a finger. (Seriously)
Sometimes it depends what I'm wearing and whether the rest of the jewellery that I have on matches them or not.

DH never takes his wedding ring off, but he's not bothered about whether I wear mine or not. I wouldn't be bothered if he didn't wear his either, however my not wearing mine all the time seems to get MIL very riled. So naturally I rarely wear them around her just because I know it pisses her off ;)

She used always give out about BIL's ex wife not wearing hers all the time and 'no wonder they split up'. They split up because BIL was shagging someone else, but as far as MIL is concerned, he can do no wrong. He never wore his either, but 'it's different for men' Hmm

I got married a long time ago. don't like the style of my wedding ring anymore and don't wear it. nor does DH.

It's just a ring in the end of the day and it's absence or presence on our fingers tells nothing about the state of the marriage.

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 16/02/2020 13:02

I wear mine daily as it’s too much faff to be taking them on and off to do the cleaning, swim etc. I don’t notice if others have them on or not and doubt if has any bearing in most marriages.

OhTheRoses · 16/02/2020 13:09

Married for nearly 29 years. Rarely taken off. Have had on diamond replaced and the centre stone had to be put back in. Also have had engagement band built up again as it wore think and both have been resized.

Loved them when purchased and still love them. Wedding band, eternity and three stone engagement ring set with a sapphire centre stone. Not today's fashion but haven't dated either.

Oilyoilyoilgob · 16/02/2020 13:19

I can’t wear mine day to day due to the nature of my job, so I’d rather they stay off and safe but when I’m off/out they go on-husband had then designed and made so I love the sentiment of them 😊

I don’t wear them when SIL and kids visit as we’re quite often doing ‘kid’ activities and it drives her mad, to the point of her commenting. Very petty of me but I now deliberately keep them off throughout her whole visit to wind her up. I’m married whether or not I wear my rings but she doesn’t seem to grasp it I should be ‘showing off the diamonds and the fact I’m married’ 🤣

polkadotpixie · 16/02/2020 13:45

I wear mine about 50% of the time. I take them off for showers/washing up/hand cream etc and usually forget to put them back on

DH is about the same really and neither of us is that bothered. We just joke about being single today if we notice the other isn't wearing theirs. He lost his once and shit himself that I was going to go mad but we just bought a replacement (obviously he then found the original again but that's another story 😂)

My sister thinks we're both weird and hasn't taken hers off in the 6 years she's been married

Trahira · 16/02/2020 13:46

I never take mine off.

FizzyIce · 16/02/2020 13:49

I take mine off at night or when I’m baking .
Dh never takes his off

AngeloMysterioso · 16/02/2020 13:51

DH never takes his off.

I have to take mine off for a few days occasionally- having a new baby I’m washing my hands quite a lot and if soap and/or water get stuck in the gaps I can get sore dry patches on my fingers.

Marmite27 · 16/02/2020 14:04

I don’t wear mine. Both have stones in, which aren’t practical with small children. My engagement ring kept catching DC1 as a baby. I do wear a plain yellow gold band my great aunt gave me the day after she met my DH with the words ‘you’ll need that soon’. It belonged to her mother, so my great great grandmother. It doesn’t look that old and fits perfectly.

DH never takes his off, it’s made of palladium I think. His dad never takes his off either.

To ask if you wear your rings or not?
Floralnomad · 16/02/2020 14:08

We’ve been married 30 yrs , dh stopped wearing his almost immediately as he’s not a jewellery wearer and found it too annoying and I stopped wearing all jewellery about 18 yrs ago when I got very severe contact dermatitis . Our wedding rings and my engagement ring all live together in a little box . It doesn’t bother me in the slightest that neither of us wear them .

WarrenNicole · 16/02/2020 14:11

I always wear mine. Take them off for bed though.

aLilNonnyMouse · 16/02/2020 14:17

Mine is silver so I take it off when swimming otherwise it needs polishing every week. Other than that it never comes off. I did choose a style where it wouldn't get in the way though. I do a lot of sewing and crochet so got one with the stones recessed into the design so the top is smooth. That way it wont catch on anything. It does mean the stones are smaller but I've never really cared about that.

BossAssBitch · 16/02/2020 14:20

I wear mine all the time. Even at the gym, although they do get in the way. I love them so much, what they represent, and they are very beautiful and make me smile a lot. I do have them separately insured which gives me peace of mind.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 16/02/2020 14:22

Neither of us wear ours now as we started to worry we’d never be able to get them off again, we had much skinnier fingers in our early 20s than we do in our 40s!

Suppose we could get them made larger for a special anniversary, but not sure if we’re that bothered really. We both used to twiddle them absent minded you so that’a The only thing I miss

timetest · 16/02/2020 14:23

Some days I do and some I don’t. Today I’m not. I’ve been married for decades.

BillywigSting · 16/02/2020 14:36

I don't wear mine much because if I wear any ring for more than a day or so I get a pretty excruciating band of eczema /dermatitis underneath it, doesn't matter the metal, it's more to do with soap etc getting trapped underneath it I think.

I do wear them if I'm for example going out for dinner with dp, but only for a few hours at a time.

I wouldn't ever take them off otherwise.

Rosebel · 16/02/2020 14:47

Neither me or my husband wear our wedding rings but do always wear my eternity ring.

myself2020 · 16/02/2020 14:53

I wear both of mine all the time. they are very simple with no stones

Animum2 · 16/02/2020 14:54

I wear mine during the day but take them off at night time and if I'm washing/creaming my hands and if it's hot because swollen fingers

ThePolishWombat · 16/02/2020 14:57

I only take mine off if I’m cooking something messy - like making dumplings or kneading dough.
DH has to take his off during certain activities at work. He’s military and it’s not unheard of for people to get wedding rings stuck in the working parts of weapons and have fingers removed Confused

Madre1972 · 16/02/2020 15:02

I wear mine permanently as does my DH, both have desk jobs but do have active hobbies (horses for me and squash for him) never take them off.

My dad was a builder in his younger year so never wore a ring.

Each to their own.

FenellaMaxwell · 16/02/2020 15:09

DH always wears his. I only wear mine for special occasions as I can’t wear them at work.

BarbedBloom · 16/02/2020 15:09

We both wear them all the time really. The only exception in my case is when I am doing something like making bread or planting.

RightSwipe · 16/02/2020 15:12

Ours both got too big for us at around the same time after we both lost a lot of weight on a joint fitness programme. We’ve been meaning to get them altered ever since....

Married 19 years. That was about 6 years ago Grin.

To be honest, neither of us wear jewellery and I always found my ring uncomfortable and suspect DH did, too....

Oblomov20 · 16/02/2020 15:13

Every day. Take my eternity ring, wedding ring and engagement ring off before I go to bed.
