How can anyone have an ounce of respect for Corbyn

The man is a snake. We all know he’s a Brexiteer, so why not just come out and say it? This man has no principles - he’s purely concerned with getting into No 10 and there is no low he won’t sink to in order to get there. He’s spent years heckling from the sidelines, but it’s all smoke and mirrors to detract from the fact that he has nothing of any substance to offer on any area of policy-making, let alone the Brexit shambles. The man is an utter joke.

Surely his days are numbered now, as are TM’s and the all the other Brexiteers who put their careers in front of their principles?

JustAnotherPoster00 Calm down yourself. Politically, I'm significantly Left of Corbyn. Or I was until somehow lies and apologism for racism somehow became Left-wing ideology.

Seahorses, do you have an actual quote of your claim?

Like a lot of Tory smears, they cry terrorist-lover, anti Semite and hope that it sticks. Corbyn is a good man whose philosophy would vastly improve most of our lives. Another ten years under austerity and the Tories and we are all fecked.

How does that legitimise your spurious claim?

Someone very left wing but willing to keep Tories in power by not voting Labour. Hmm....

100% agree Mistlewoe

I try to avoid any Corbyn threads on Mumsnet for the sake of my blood pressure – it’s always the same bullshit smears, the same bad faith arguments, the same (often contradictory) insults. It feels futile to bother trying to refute any of it, but it’s cheered me up to see a handful of people on this thread fighting back.

I like JC. I don't understand why people continually confuse a dislike of Israeli foreign policy with anti-semitism.

I like him too, and I've met him many times. He certainly hasn't got a big ego as a PP suggested, he's one of the most un-egotistic politicians I've ever met.

Mind you, he could have undergone a personality transplant since the 1980s.

JustAnotherPoster00 -nationalisation of the railways, funding public ownership, an end to cuts in welfare. I don't see where the money would come from to pay for all these. The costs that would be involved in taking private companies back under public control would be astronomical and these figures were not in the manifesto. From the manifesto, the promise to be seen in A and E in 4 hours is not workable and a better promise would be to scrap the 4 hour target and prioritise the sickest first.

Yep, Brexit mess, totally the fault of Jeremy Corbyn and the labour party.

Said no-one with a clue ever.
Fucking ridiculous.

chilledteacher keyenesian economics, you invest in the economy instead of strangling it as in neo-liberal economics, governments can borrow much cheaper than private households, you then invest that into people of a lower income, banning 0 hour contracts, because people have more money they spend it in the economy which in turn brings up the tax revenue and manafacturing and jobs at the same time, u invest in peoples health and education making them happier as individuals and happy individuals are nothing if not productive, so it becomes a cycle that repeats itself and then you start to pay back the borrowing and lessen benefits because people will be getting paid and have job security. Its worth having a read about it tbh

How is Labour going to pay for all these marvellous promises they have made , it would cost billions and billions to pay for them , laudable though they are . Obviously they will be taxing the "rich" (probably most of the people on Mumsnet would be considered to be "rich" for these purposes) but the seriously rich of course will just relocate abroad so they won't have to pay .
Re Brexit and Labour it seems to me that the problem is that JC is a lifelong anti EU stalwart who has opposed all of TMs negotiations to leave for opportunistic reasons on the basis that the majority of Labour members are Remainers and he wants to get Labour into power at any cost. The people being forgotten about here are the Labour voters the majority of whom voted Leave . Is he just assuming that they have always voted Labour so won't ever vote for anyone else ? We will find the answer to that at the next General Election

I am a labour voter.
However, I will not vote for them next time if Diane Abbott still has her position. She is not fit for purpose and is an embarrassment to the party, along with several other MPs including Kate Osamore who employed her under qualified (drug dealing) son as one of her people, rather than appointing through a fair application process. And lives in a 700k lovely social housing property. Which should be given to someone who doesn't have her sizeable salary.

I have no confidence in the party any more. Though I'm sure JC is a lovely man, it's not enough.

lachenalia are you sure you understand how a parliamentary democracy works? Doesnt matter what Corbyn thinks or says about Brexit the reigns are still firm in the tories hands.

Labour voters the majority of whom voted Leave.

Sorry but thats factually incorrect, Labour voted 65% to remain

SuziQ Plenty of dirty laundry in all the parties tbh

I'm more focused on what their policies can do for this country than the personalities

Do you feel that Kate Osamore might try and get that passed in legislation or do you think she might try and get her constituents to do the same as her? I dont quite understand why that would put you off voting for a party rather than an individual

JustAnotherPoster00 I have provided a link to the actual video of Corbyn being racist. In what way is that 'spurious'? It is still racism even when it's St Jezza who says it. If it were a Tory they'd rightly be crucified by you.

dadshere I posted a video upthread. Not a claim - undeniable fact. It's interesting that I'm the one needing to provide evidence for a recent and widely reported news story when someone upthread posted false information about Survation polls which has gone unquestioned by Corbyn supporters.

Seahorses it proves nothing of the sort, you say 'well if you change what he said and then ignore his explanation he is an anti semite' im afraid my critical thinking skills arent that underdevoloped so I dont think its gonna gain much ground in this thread, dont worry there will surely be another anti Corbyn thread next week as the Tories keep driving us of the Brexit cliff maybe give it a try there and you might be able to get people to believe it, I wish you all the luck

Mistlewoeandwhine That's an opinion piece by a Novara writer and has no more credence than what you or I think about the matter. I prefer to look at the facts. The actual documented history of Corbyn's actions, involving several official reprimands by major political figures including but not limited to Mowlam, Blair, Kinnock and at least one Labour whip is a matter of long-standing public record stretching back decades. Of course, there could always have been a 36 year conspiracy to stop him becoming PM ...

It isn't an explanation, JustAnotherPoster00, it's a poor excuse because he was found out. It is a disgraceful, racist attack on British Jewish people. Would it be racist if it was said about British Muslim people? Well a Tory has recently said something similarly Othering and racist. Leadsom said Islamaphobia towards British Muslims was a matter for the foreign office. Do you agree with me that it was a racist statement or is it somehow acceptable, like Corbyn's racism is somehow acceptable.

Can anyone explain why it’s ok for Corbyn to have shared platforms/held discussions with some awful people over the years including very antisemitic people, and to then refuse to share a Remain platform with David Cameron. What was that about?
