I was using my hair straighteners today, and realised that it's been 15 years since I purchased them. They are GHDs and I bought them in 2004. Used almost daily and they were £100. At the time I thought this was quite expensive. But working out cost per usage it's pretty amazing! They're still going strong.

What was the best money you ever spent on something and why?

I asked a friend, and she said it was the registration fee on a dating site, as she is now married with 2 children Smile

“My son ❤️ very expensive fertility treatment but worth it times a million! (I don't consider him a purchase btw but he did cost a lot!)”

Oh yes! Me too. Lots and LOTS of fertility treatment to have our youngest. Worth every penny and infinitely more.

I think £500 on my dog - he is lovely and brings me so much happiness.

SausageSimon · 09/03/2019 21:22

My dog. She cost me an absolute bomb as she's a KC registered fancy pants, but she was my dream dog and she's brought me nothing but joy.

I waited 4 years for her and it was so worth it!

But slightly less ‘seriously’ - laser eye surgery. It was a miracle.

Thank god for medical science eh!

When I was about 7 I saved up and got myself a proper dog lead and collar (I really wanted a dog but family lifestyle didn't allow). I used it on a toy dog I had and it gave me great pleassure for years. As an adult when I finally got a dog of my own it got proper use for a couple of years.

Spending a small fortune taking my kids and mum, plus a nasty ex and his three kids, to disneyland paris. The ex may have been a shit, but i'm glad i gave all five of our collection of kids the experience. And taking my mum was special.

And more than that was taking my eldest to germany for amphi festival last summer. She and i bonded fantastically and i now wish she was coming with me to mera luna this year but i havent got the extra cash to bring her with me. Im actually going alone Shock

What a lovely thread! I think for me it's private therapy for my eating disorder and every bra I've bought from Bravissimo.

My MA, took years to pay it off but got a job through it and have always worked in the career I dreamed of since. It was intense but thoroughly enjoyable, and I also made lifelong friends through it.

DS's trampoline. He has ASD and ADHD (second not formally diagnosed). Hours and hours of happy boing, boing, boinging every day. Thankfully we have no neighbours close enough for him to annoy with this.

TheBreastmilksOnMe · 09/03/2019 21:33

Our Panasonic wide screen TV. Well it was bought for us by the in-laws so no idea how much it cost circa £600 I’m guessing. 14yrs ago. Still going strong.

My 325cc breast implants 8 years ago. They cost me £5200 and took me from a 34C to a 32F (I lost 2 stone before my op and have pretty much kept it off since give our take 3lbs). I am still so so happy with my breasts Smile and so is my fella Wink

Galdos · 09/03/2019 21:47

Teeth: £300 in 1981 on a complete replacement of 70s NHS fillings (in the good ole days days of drill 'em and fill 'em). Only now just beginning to crumble … TV is 16 years old, still OK; a cashmere overcoat and pair of leather gloves I bought in 1991; a jacket I bought second hand 3 years ago for £10 that I will not be parted from; a watch (remember them?) I bought 25 years ago and keeps perfect time and maybe worth 3 times what I paid for it...

Twogirlsandme · 09/03/2019 21:48

Was coming on here to say my lovely dog but saw lots of others have posted the same. Less than £100 and 13 years so far of happiness. She’s the best.

ideasofmarch · 09/03/2019 21:48

I bought a lightweight navy Dash jacket in 1992 for about £60. Every year it gets worn continually from March to October, it goes in the washing machine and comes out lovely, I must have worn it well over a thousand times. Don't know what I'd do without it.
