I was using my hair straighteners today, and realised that it's been 15 years since I purchased them. They are GHDs and I bought them in 2004. Used almost daily and they were £100. At the time I thought this was quite expensive. But working out cost per usage it's pretty amazing! They're still going strong.

What was the best money you ever spent on something and why?

I asked a friend, and she said it was the registration fee on a dating site, as she is now married with 2 children Smile

Gosh where to start. GHD defo a good one. My hammonds wardrobes do bring joy! I had veneers on my teeth (cost a fortune) and really pleased with them. I got s couple of pair of jeans from Next (360 jeans) £45 that have been a fabulous investment but all in all the thing I am most pleased with is my 'hive' controlling your heating on your phone! wlaking into a warm house - priceless!

Laser eye surgery. 20.20 vision and saved a fortune in specs and contact lenses over the last 12 years.

Hiring a lawyer to force the sale of the house jointly owned with my ex.

The best bit? My lawyer was so good that he persuaded the court that, because my ex was being an awkward sod, he should pay the fees. Bargain Grin

Going to university. Didn't really use the degree but did meet DH there so pretty good deal Smile

Also adore my Shark Duo Lift-away after years of wrestling with a pull along Dyson monstrosity.

Doula - helped make the labour and birth relaxing and calm after having a traumatic one due to a medically unnecessary induction.

I-Candy Orange Double Pram - Boys love it and we go all over the place in it.

Super King Bed from IKEA - so much room even when the boys are in with us.

CurlsandCurves · 09/03/2019 21:09

Clear blue fertility monitor. Over a year trying for baby number 2 with my cycle all over the place. Hit the jackpot after using this for about 3 months if I recall.

Kindle paperwhite. I honestly don’t know what I’d do without it (actually I do, I’d buy another one ASAP!). No matter what the day throws at me, half an hour in the bath with my kindle and all’s right with the world.

Newadventure · 09/03/2019 21:09

Hands down the nanny breathing monitor I bought for dd when she was a baby.
I wouldn't have been able to sleep without it.

£600 on a private abdominal scan. The symptoms my doctors had been assuring me was IBS turned out to be a pancreatic tumour. Best spend ever.

Hersheys · 09/03/2019 21:17

You know you've probably just jinxed your straighteners! @ILoveBray

WoollyMummoth · 09/03/2019 21:18

English Heritage membership. So many beautiful places to visit , so many happy memories of days out with DH, then DH and DCs, and now back to me and DH again. Can’t wait for grandkids so we can go on mass!
