To ask who is the longest serving contributor to Mumsnet

I've lurked for ages but only fairly recently plucked up the courage to contribute. Noticed the Podcast thread about how it all started and just wondered who is the longest serving member and how many of the first contributors are still here? Might be difficult to find out I guess or maybe not, I'm no expert on these matters!

Whats Ivillage.

Ive seen poats from @AnyFucker

Witchofzog · 09/03/2019 20:08

17 years for me. Lots of name changes. I have made a few Facebook friends because of mumsnet but no real life friends. I did however spot a real life friend on here a few years ago. I told her I knew so she could name change if she wanted as I felt like I was reading her diary

grumiosmum · 09/03/2019 20:08

I'm pretty sure I've been here longer than AIBU.

I remember it being launched and thinking, "oooh ... clever".

And now its the most popular board by miles!

NoArmaniNoPunani · 09/03/2019 20:09

I've done 11 years

grumiosmum · 09/03/2019 20:09

I used to post a lot on the SN boards when DS was small, he's turned out to have a very student typical life.

Tw1nsetAndPearls · 09/03/2019 20:12

I was here before AIBU and I think it was the start of a turning point of MN. Discussion became much more black and white and confrontational with posters wanting to catch each other out rather than genuinely discussing things.

catinboots99 · 09/03/2019 20:13

I've been here since 2004 or 2005 I think??? Been various numbered versions of catinboots and a few other random name changes.

I started posting regularly in 2009 when preg with DS2 and enjoyed the London meet-up of Xmas 2011 or 2012 I think? The one with the Boris bikes??? Then another couple of meet-ups the following year??

HidingFromDD · 09/03/2019 20:13

Since 2000 Shock
DD1 had just started school, dd1 hadn't started yet, they've both left uni now!
Can't tell exact posting date as I think those threads have gone, but a lot of us just used our first names then, Have name changed a number of times since.

grumiosmum · 09/03/2019 20:14

Yes, interesting Tw1nset about AIBU being a turning point.

I sometimes post nostalgically about how everyone used to be nicer & more supportive.

grumiosmum · 09/03/2019 20:15

Yes, my first user name was my Christian name.

TheRealHousewifeofCheshire · 09/03/2019 20:15

@HaventGotAllDay I couldn't see @blondeshavemorefun name check up thread where she mentioned posters what page is it on have i missed it?

Just like to follow the trail

Giraffeski · 09/03/2019 20:16

I've been here for yonks. Don't know how I can see year joined but my eldest is 16 next week so I reckon 2002-2003

Reg number starts with a 2!

ssd · 09/03/2019 20:17

I think I've been here since 2002 or 2003. Bloody hell you'd think I would have a life by now. But I still like mn, I find it less cliquey and less compassionate than the olden days.

ssd · 09/03/2019 20:19

Think my reg is 18036 but don't quote me.

ssd · 09/03/2019 20:21

Never name changed. Not interesting enough!!!

ColouringPencils · 09/03/2019 20:29

2006 for me. It has changed, although not necessarily for the worse. Some people were very pleased with themselves and the gang they were in in the old days. I remember going to a meet up and meeting someone who was like a minor celeb on MN and she was really drippy in real life. That cured me of any inferiority complex. I used
to feel like it was run by a load of head girl types, but clearly the internet lets us be whoever we like. That said, I did enjoy reading the funnier and cleverer vibe, even if I couldn't compete. There were lots of fall-outs in those days - moldies etc. It's more anonymous now, and I know I for one am more aware of changing my username, concealing important details - I'm certainly not as open as I used to be.

Nobody has mentioned morningpaper, but I remember her leaving (or stopping working for MN?) being a big deal. Also riven.

EstherMumsnet · 09/03/2019 20:29

Evening! Just to let you know we've seen this thread and we'll see if we can get you any info without ruining the whole anonymity thing. Bear with us - may take a few days.

TheRealHousewifeofCheshire · 09/03/2019 20:44

I dont get the moldie thing

ColouringPencils · 09/03/2019 20:46

It was the 'mumsnet oldies', they formed their own private forum, splintered off and only invited selected people to join them. Lots of people were offended not to be invited and it got very bitchy. No doubt many of the people who were invited to be in moldies are still here too.

BellaVita · 09/03/2019 20:48

@catinboots - that was a great meet up. The boris bike thing was hilarious.

TheRealHousewifeofCheshire · 09/03/2019 20:50

While we have some wisdom here can I just ask why people get so wound up and bitchy when old threads get resurrected?Hmm

ColouringPencils · 09/03/2019 20:54

I don't know but I was just thinking if we all searched for threads from 2000 we could have a millennium party tonight! Thing is, we'd only ruin it with our woke 2019 ways.

thenightsky · 09/03/2019 20:56

Can't remember exactly when I joined, but I do know it was more than 13 years ago (named changed since then).

PlayingForKittens · 09/03/2019 20:57

I've been here 12 or 13 years. Biggest child is 12 and I joined when pg with him. A few name changes. I need another one actually, it has been a while.

@stealthpolarbear was the first mner I met in real life and is still a friend though I hardly ever see her but our kids knock around together.

I've met several other mners since and count a good few as friends. One of the "due in...." groups I joined still chats on FB and is a constant source of support and comfort, it's lovely.

Always nice to see some proper oldies still around, so many memorable threads and events from back when things were quieter and you got to "Know" people's stories in a different way.
