AIBU to feel unbelievably sad that Shamima Bergum’s baby has died.

The poor mite simply didn’t have a chance in the world he was born in to.

Sad

“ISIS members (ideologically very similar to the Nazis) are being excused and somewhat defended.”

They really aren’t, you know!

Justanotherlurker · 09/03/2019 23:25

You go straight for the pendantic route rather than discuss the wider conversation, to be fair I didn't expect anything less.

MissEliza · 09/03/2019 23:40

Apparently 2/3 of those who died in the camp in the last three months were under the age of 5. Sad

Imissgmichael · 10/03/2019 00:27

Bertrand in a way they are. They think they are entitled to do what they want no matter how vile and inhuman.

The difference is that unlike today there wasn’t a flood of people making excuses and minimising their actions and shouting racism.

BlueSlipperSocks · 10/03/2019 00:52

There is the point that this was someone's 15 yo DC!!!

I've had 3x15 year olds. None have run off to fight for ISIS and then demanded to come back to the UK to be looked after. I have no doubt they have smoked, swore, havent handed in homework, skipped lessons, and all things 15 year klds do. I am damned sure they have not been party to bombing, or beheading innocent people. What about your 15 year olds?

Choccywoccyhooha · 10/03/2019 01:01

All these people doubting she had a baby. You do understand the role of ISIS brides, right? They are baby-making machines producing the next generation of freedom fighters. It would be strange if she wasn't pregnant, considering her last two children died, so she was no longer breastfeeding, it was her duty to get pregnant again.

DioneTheDiabolist · 10/03/2019 01:03

I live in NI. Some of the kids I grew up with joined terrorist groups at the age SB did. They didn't do it because they were evil or psychopaths. They did it because they were products of UK society at the time. And believed they were fighting injustice.Sad

Imissgmichael · 10/03/2019 01:03

Don’t forget the condoning of gang rape of children BlueSlipper. Some people on here would probably cut their little rapist kids spending money for that and blame someone else.

DioneTheDiabolist · 10/03/2019 01:07

To those doubting the existence of a baby. SB was processed by the SDF as being pregnant. They recorded the birth of her son. They accompanied him to hospital, where he died.

Then the SDF confirmed that SB's infant son died. She gave birth and her child died. That's real.

Imissgmichael · 10/03/2019 01:17

So what Dione. i feel sorry for the baby not her.

DioneTheDiabolist · 10/03/2019 01:24

Confused @Imissgmichael.

The World has gone mad! Why on Earth do some people find it acceptable that people choose to murder innocent people in the most violent way? How can people excuse their behaviour?

The girl in question was 15. Hardly a baby. Where were her parents when she decided to fly to Syria to be part of ISIS? Why is it now that she has lost all her 3 babies and her husband has been caught and jailed that they have come forward - Demanding that the UK take her back and provide her with housing, food and a good life?

Sorry! She saw fit to to fly the ISIS flag. She made her bed. She can lie in it. There are far more people within the UK that deserve sympathy. She should be last on everyone's list. I hope she is never allowed back - I dont trust this Government to not allow her back though. She will probably be given a home, benefits and a new identity very soon, and we won't know anything about it. This country has become a soft touch 😏

Imissgmichael · 10/03/2019 01:43

Dione pull your a silly face all you want but it’s true. Only today my husband picked up our GD. He overheard a teacher telling a mum that yet again her daughter had gone inside another pupils changing room at the swimming pool. I’m not going to say what this delightful child did again. Quite frankly it’s wuite disgusting. Mum and her friends just laughed and said what ever. They couldn’t care less.

So Dione what’s your sympathy for iSIS victims?

MadCatEnthusiast · 10/03/2019 01:49

what’s your sympathy for iSIS victims?
Trying to understand how and why someone may have been radicalised and went to go join a terrorist group doesn't equal no sympathy for Isis victims.

DioneTheDiabolist · 10/03/2019 01:55

Not pulling a silly face. I'm confused as to the point you're making Imissgmichael. I'm even more Confused about this after your last post.

What exactly are you saying is true?Confused

DioneTheDiabolist · 10/03/2019 02:12

So Dione what’s your sympathy for iSIS victims?
They have my utmost sympathy.FlowersSad

Smotheroffive · 10/03/2019 02:26

Were women running ISIS!!

Smotheroffive · 10/03/2019 02:27

...and they were raping ...

All this is horrific. Flowers for all who suffered and lost their lives in this barbary

DioneTheDiabolist · 10/03/2019 02:27

Not as far as I know Smother.

Smotheroffive · 10/03/2019 02:29

Well there's a lot of rhetoric on here that sounds as if all these women were in ultimate positions of power, maybe just me then...

Smotheroffive · 10/03/2019 02:31

I just keep thinking that it must have been a women led shit show for all the blame going on.

Women cut young girls for the sake of the almighty man, to be in his favour

acciocat · 10/03/2019 07:34

Most of the top people in the Nazi party were men. Does that excuse the female members who supported atrocities? The females who committed torture and murder in concentration camps?

It can’t be said enough times: everyone who supports a terrorist organisation has been radicalised at some point, because nobody is born with a set of beliefs in place. For some people this process of indoctrination pretty much begins at birth, if they are brought up by parents with extremist views. They don’t all go on to commit crimes against humanity. And this wasn’t the case with Begum anyway... she actively sought out this path. Why anyone is trying to make excuses for a 15 year old who aligns themselves with rape, torture and murder is beyond me.

BertrandRussell · 10/03/2019 07:45

“Why anyone is trying to make excuses for a 15 year old who aligns themselves with rape, torture and murder is beyond me”

There is a difference between explain and excuse. We need to understand how and why radicalisation of young people happens.

acciocat · 10/03/2019 07:47

I think everyone agrees with that latter point Bertrand, which is why there are agencies specifically for that purpose.

SmileEachDay · 10/03/2019 08:03

which is why there are agencies specifically for that purpose

Yep. Schools, police, security services, social services and several other agencies are central to govt policy on this.

Which is another reason it’s not ok for the UK to just say “ohhhh she went bad, she can’t be a uk citizen any more”
