Is this inappropriate?

Won’t identify myself as keen to garner responses.

Person A organises free drinks at a pub near their work for a workplace hobby society they are a part of eg Watersports Club. They invite B and C from their actual work. B and C have nothing in common with the others (both female, the others aren’t; fair bit younger than the others etc) but end up staying on for drinks at the event until late into the evening. They mainly chat to each other but also mingle with the group.

Has anyone behaved inappropriately in these circumstances?

This really isn't interesting enough to drag out. You've had your responses, and you'll just get more of the same. Explain or expect everyone to leave the thread

This with fucking sugar on.

You are a wife, but not of anyone involved? Its a work place hobbie but only 2 colleagues there? Doesn't make sense at all.

Just spit it out ffs

Lweji · 07/03/2019 16:54

It depends. Is it a secret society? Does it require pre-approval for membership? Was A accused of inviting B and C without other members' approval? Were B and C accused of flirting with the "others"? Or vice versa? As the others appear to be men, did their wives complain? Did they complain that they couldn't have their usual locker room banter? Were revealing swimsuits involved? Hot tubs?

More information is needed.
Possibly a diagram.

cuppycakey · 07/03/2019 16:55

Yes!! We need a fucking diagram!!! Grin

Movinghouseatlast · 07/03/2019 16:55

I think A was wrong. This was a drinks session for the club members. Two strangers changes the dynamic if it was specifically a get together for the club.

Klopptimist · 07/03/2019 16:57

I suppose the answer to this conundrum depends on what type of behaviour is deemed as 'inappropriate' at a watersports club piss up...Are people going potty because these women didn't spend a penny on drink?

FromDespairToHere · 07/03/2019 16:57

I can't believe I've just read all of that and I still don't know WHY TF OP WAS ASKING IF ANYONE WAS INAPPROPRIATE!

VelvetPineapple · 07/03/2019 16:58

“two people who were not part of the club were benefitting from free drinks all night presumably paid for from the club kitty”

This. The club is paying for drinks for its members. Not for any random who rocks up. It’s ok to invite others to accompany your club to the pub but they should have paid for their own drinks.

I appreciate that the drinks were prepaid and the members wouldn’t have finished them all so basically B and C just drank the leftovers. But those leftovers belonged to everyone - they weren’t A’s to give away!

Lweji · 07/03/2019 16:59

a watersports club piss up

I'm pretty sure that's frowned upon. Wink

Klopptimist · 07/03/2019 17:01

A diagram 🤣🤣🤣

Out of interest, what drinks were on offer at the, ahem, watersports club? Were they free flowing?

NunoGoncalves · 07/03/2019 17:02

I'm pretty sure that's frowned upon. wink

It's certainly inappropriate!

pinkgloves · 07/03/2019 17:02

If the cost wasn't the issue then nobody is out of order. What a bloody non issue.

If wives are paranoid about their husbands being in company of females then they have issues they need to look at. You can't hide these precious men from these evil wayward women forever.

I am a wife yes but not one of any of the above...

You want to be furnished with opinions on an unexplained unreasonableness that doesn't directly concern you whatsoever?

Odd.

NunoGoncalves · 07/03/2019 17:04

I'm not trying to piss you off OP, but wee need to know how urine-volved in the situation.

arethereanyleftatall · 07/03/2019 17:04

This is utterly pointless.

Everyone projecting to come to their own scenario, which may or may not be similar to the ops.

Loopytiles · 07/03/2019 17:06

Drinks pre ordered and paid for by whom? The club (funded by members)? If so then it’s still relevant.

Perhaps OP is the wife of another male club member present - or heard about it on the grapevine - who has been gossiping about A inviting B/C women, and B/C boozing it up!

Missingstreetlife · 07/03/2019 17:26

Who cares?

BollocksToBrexit · 07/03/2019 17:44

So what you're actually asking is, is it inappropriate to have 2 random young women at a piss up event for middle aged married men? I have to say it does have a distinct whiff of sleazy about it.

InMyBloodstainedSundaysBest · 07/03/2019 17:56

NunoGoncalves Grin

OP, you said you didn't want to identify yourself because you were keen to garner responses.. you've achieved that aim.. you're not going to get any different answers without providing more information.

Right now you're the only one being 'inappropriate' for failing to provide the salient details.

NameChange992 · 07/03/2019 18:28

I don't understand what a 'workplace hobby society' is if it's not made up with people from 'their actual work'... Surely even if B&C don't belong to the hobby society they work with everyone else there and thus have that in common.

Anyway, whether or not inappropriate seems impossible to say without extra information. Do the workplace fund the workplace hobby society - in which case surely it's open to anyone at the workplace? Or is it directly funded by the members? Why were B& C invited? Because A or some of A's friends wanted to lech over younger women? Or because they'd already paid for x people for the event, had some people drop out and so opened up the invitation to other colleagues because someone may as well use the places? Because they're trying to attract new members? Or some other nefarious reason?

And you really do need to let us know what it is that you think is inappropriate.

Drogosnextwife · 07/03/2019 18:32

OP don't you know how Mumsnet works? You must give all information and tell us why it's inappropriate. I am in no way being sarcastic.

itsbritneybiatches · 07/03/2019 19:04

Why did the two others come?

adaline · 07/03/2019 19:05

I get the feeling you're A's wife and are pissed off because your husband has chosen to invite two women from work to his club when you were stuck at home/have never been invited.

NCforthis2019 · 07/03/2019 19:08

Is it because the guy (a) has only invited b and c because they are women and a fair bit younger, hence him wanting to sleep with them - is this what you’re thinking?

TedAndLola · 07/03/2019 19:14

I think OP is E. The one who wanders around making ambiguous comments and giving dirty looks if asked to elaborate, then stands stiffly in the corner and monitors how many canapes each member eats.
