AIBU to ask if you changed your opinion about Brexit

We had a lot of Brexit threads but I think not about this topic. As somebody who does not live in Britain I wonder if you changed your opinion about Brexit now that you heard that a hard Brexit is most likely. Would you vote different if there was a second vote?

Dorling concludes: “no one who is numerate should blame the north or the poor or the working class for what is about to become us”.

Crunchycrunchycrunchy · 07/03/2019 08:06

Also interesting to see how many people that are apparently ok with mass job losses. Strange times.

^ this. I know so many people getting made redundant with no warning.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 07/03/2019 08:09

It’s understandable that leavers blame the EU afterall the brexiteers told them deals would be easy and that the UK held all the cards. Very embarrassing to climb down from that and admit to the UK’s diminishing role on the world stage.

Crunchycrunchycrunchy · 07/03/2019 08:09

The way the EU has behaved since the referendum result has shown me I made the right choice.

Are they meant to bend over backwards for us, when we are the ones leaving?
They have put forward their terms and we don't like them.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 07/03/2019 08:13

May supports the WA and the back stop. The stalemate exists not because of May or Ireland or the EU but because of the sovereign British parliament not supporting it. Ironic.

nothingwittyhere · 07/03/2019 08:16

The way the EU has behaved since the referendum result has shown me I made the right choice.

I don't understand this argument at all. What exactly have the EU done other than protect their own interests and not just give us everything we want because we're special?

EXACTLY THIS. Would the people who apparently believe the EU should have given us an even better deal than the one we currently have, allow someone to live free in their house and eat their food, use their heating, car, etc? Because that's in effect what you're saying.

As someone said up thread, time to stop pretending that Leavers aren't stupid.

LovingLola · 07/03/2019 08:19

I strongly suspect that terrorism will return to the streets of Northern Ireland and major English cities.
But those who voted to leave have no conscience about that

BorisBogtrotter · 07/03/2019 08:29

The "EU has behaved badly" trope is simply leavers complaining that the EU will not give the UK a better deal than EU members.

The EU has followed exactly the course of action it said it would prior to the referendum, but back then the leaver believed Gove et al when they said that the UK held all the cards and "they need us more than we need them".

Now they are upset that actually this wasn't true and they were duped, and blaming the other side for their own mistakes.

heartshapedknob · 07/03/2019 08:29

Voted remain and still would. Too many reasons to list but to start with; NI, the economy (which is already going to shit and has been seen the vote) medical supplies and so on.

I saw a post elsewhere last week saying, we can leave but everyone must take a Leave or Remain token. In the event of rationing anything, people with Remain tokens get served first. Oh and there must be a 52% takeup of Leave tokens or A50 would be revoked.
Makes more sense than Teresa’s shitty deal or no deal.

heartshapedknob · 07/03/2019 08:30

*since not seen

surferjet · 07/03/2019 08:58

Who’s upset?
We’re leaving in a few weeks. I’m very happy. Smile
I know remainers want leavers to be ‘upset’ ( over what I’m not sure? ) The EU have bullied us, that’s not being upset, that’s an observation.

Remainers. Please accept the referendum result with a degree of decorum. The closer we’re getting to leaving the worse you’re getting. Have some pride fgs. coming on a parenting forum calling other parents ‘idiots’ & ‘pathetic’ for simply voting a different way is embarrassing. ( for you )

KidLorneRoll · 07/03/2019 09:02

Nope, why would we just accept something which is very clearly a very, very stupid idea?

If your satnav told you to drive off a cliff, would you just carry on regardless? Where is the pride in that, exactly?

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 07/03/2019 09:02

Well said @surferjet

I voted Leave and would again.

Awaits the insults that fly regularly from Remains mouths/keyboards!

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 07/03/2019 09:03

KidLorneRoll You are very aggressive toward Leave . Get off your high horse and accept people think DIFFERENTLY . No need for constant insults !

KidLorneRoll · 07/03/2019 09:06

I'm not being aggressive. Just pointing out the truth of the matter. It's stupid. Even the governments own analysis says it's stupid.

Feel free to post an actual, tangible reason as to why brexit is a good idea.

JRMisOdious · 07/03/2019 09:07

Remain. No change.

Crimebustersofthesea · 07/03/2019 09:13

Surferjet - can you explain what the EU has done that is 'bullying'? And what you think (realistically) they should have done differently? I'm not being goady, I genuinely don't understand.

How exactly has the EU behaved?

KidLorneRoll · 07/03/2019 09:21

They've protected the interests of the other 26 members that will remain in the union whilst refusing to bend over backwards to accommodate the wishes of the 1 member who wants out.

The bastards.

Voted leave last time. I would most definitely vote leave again.

killpop · 07/03/2019 09:32

We voted leave
No, we didn't.

AIBU to ask if you changed your opinion about Brexit
TanquerayTickles · 07/03/2019 09:33

Voted remain and would vote remain again. 3 of my friends that voted to leave said they would vote to remain now after seeing the clusterfuck that has ensued.

Leaving with no deal breaches the Good Friday Agreement and I cannot bear to think of violence on the streets of NI and other UK cities again, there has already been a car bomb in Derry. This doesn't seem to bother very many people which utterly baffles me.

Peace has got to come first before any posturing about leave means leave or similar, imo.

Jebuschristchocolatebar · 07/03/2019 09:41

Do any leave voters worry about the alaming return to terrorist activities in NI. Three devices sent to targets in england yesterday. How do you all feel about that?
