If you could only ever have one which would it be? I’m going for baby carrots. Disclaimer I’m not vegan or vegetarian, I just love veg

I do like the fat cheap peas you can buy in a tin, the little sweet one though.... nope they just evade being eaten like little ninjas when you try to fork them. I like my peas wanting to be eaten, not actively avoiding death by stomach

Peas are definitely my number two
Marrow fat peas in a tin
Basic frozen peas
Fresh peas in pods

No one has mentioned courgettes yet. You only need one plant and it’s like a never ending supply. They make a nice frittata

I only use courgette when the recipe demands it.
As to it’s flav I’m a bit meh

LunafortJest · 07/03/2019 13:42

I had to actually google 'courgette'. It is a zucchini. Everyone knows zucchini. Who on earth uses 'courgette'? lol

JRMisOdious · 07/03/2019 13:48

Er, I say courgette. Call me old fashioned 😁

JRMisOdious · 07/03/2019 13:49

All of the seed packets say courgette.

BabyDarlingDollfaceHoney · 07/03/2019 14:03

Nobody in the UK says zucchini, that's the American tern isn't it?

LakieLady · 07/03/2019 14:07

If you could only eat food or drink beginning with one letter what letter would it be?

That's a bastard of a question!

I couldn't live without tea, but that would leave me with a diet of tangerines, tomatoes, twiglets and tortellini.

BaronessBomburst · 07/03/2019 14:08

LunafortJest has just outed themselves as being forrin. Grin
I like courgettes best raw.

dreichuplands · 07/03/2019 14:18

I like courgette fried in olive oil and then squeezed with lemon juice and salt.

LunafortJest · 07/03/2019 15:42

In Australia it is zucchini, in New Zealand it is zucchini, in Canada it is zucchini, it appears it is only England that uses 'courgette'.

AdaColeman · 07/03/2019 16:36

Our use of courgette comes from the French name for vegetable marrow ~ courge à moelle.
Zucchini comes from Italian., so widely used America.

Disfordarkchocolate · 07/03/2019 17:07

Funny that, on a British website. Grin

LunafortJest, my comment wasn't any kind dig. There's plenty of posters on MN from all over the place. It adds to the site! But because it is a very British word your comment stood out.

JRMisOdious · 07/03/2019 20:42

Courgette flowers are lovely too, dipped in tempura batter and deep fried.

AdaColeman · 07/03/2019 21:05

Ooohh yes! Or stuffed with mozzarella and a little chopped anchovy and fried. Wine Wine

OP posts:
Lovingbenidorm · 08/03/2019 01:23

An aubergine can also be used as a humorous nose

Justagirlwholovesaboy · 08/03/2019 01:29
