If you could only ever have one which would it be? I’m going for baby carrots. Disclaimer I’m not vegan or vegetarian, I just love veg

@Justagirlwholovesaboy "Broccoli is ok but it kind of sits there doing nothing, a bit bland, just awaiting its end" Grin

Salt and pepper it and it's amazing.Smile

Sugar snap peas. Perfect raw or cooked, go with everything from a roast to stir fry. Perfect!

BaronessBomburst · 04/03/2019 15:35

Can anyone convince me to like marrow?

Mints567 · 04/03/2019 15:37

Carrot

littlepeas · 04/03/2019 15:38

Red pepper.

I salt aubergines for 24 hours - it makes a huge difference! They taste of tea if you don’t do it, but maybe that’s what people like?

FooFighter99 · 04/03/2019 15:44

Another Parsnip vote here! Fucking love them!!!

Pocketfull · 04/03/2019 15:44

@BaronessBomburst - No, as they’re tasteless and just plain awful.

If we can all agree that the potato is a staple that cannot be taken away from us, then I choose cauliflower.
If you’re going to nitpick and not have that as a rule then I choose potato.

Also I’m 100% in agreement for the letter C being my food letter of choice.

BaronessBomburst · 04/03/2019 15:51

That's always been my assessment @Pocketfull. But I sometimes wonder if I've been overly harsh.
I shall go back to ignoring them then!

snowone · 04/03/2019 15:53

Courgette - but I literally never get to eat it as my DH and DD won't touch it!!

fblake · 04/03/2019 16:03

Celeriac 😋

dreamingofsun · 04/03/2019 16:04

i have a lovely chutney recipe for marrow

HarrysOwl · 04/03/2019 16:14

Sweet potato.

I can eat sweet potato chips safe in the knowledge I am eating VEGETABLES.

QuirkyQuark · 04/03/2019 16:20

Oh god I'm not sure if I could choose so I'll post my top three.
Broccoli.
Mushrooms.
Spring greens.

StarlaP · 04/03/2019 16:38

Courgette. I know.

Housewife2010 · 04/03/2019 16:53

I love potatoes so much. I could give up alcohol and chocolate but never potatoes.

crosstalk · 04/03/2019 16:59

French beans runner beans any beans esp home grown.

Best fruit - tomato. Eaten at every meal. Best quick lunch - canned tomatoes, spring onion, chilli flakes, olive oil and salt. with good bread.

And may be some of the beans mentioned above.

Best herb anyone?
Best spice?

Vivienharmon · 04/03/2019 17:05

Does anyone else eat the stem of broccoli raw, with salt??

2018SoFarSoGreat · 04/03/2019 17:08

oh now you are all talking my language. I get ludicrously excited at a big platter of roasted veg. I go between adoring carrots, green beans (really lovely blue lake are the best!) and zucchini, if roasted well. But then I worry that cauliflower and kale shall feel left out, and they are marvelous. Then we have the perfect little roasted tomato. That delicious pop of flavor.

It is breakfast time here for me, and now I want veg. Thanks folks.

LunafortJest · 04/03/2019 17:34

Brussel sprouts or broccoli. Yeah, I hated them when I was a kid, but I LOVE them now.

SurgeHopper · 04/03/2019 17:37

Onions or cauliflower

BabyDarlingDollfaceHoney · 04/03/2019 17:37

Best herb definitely oregano, I love that stuff. Best spice would be very difficult. Paprika and coriander strong contenders but I think curry powder for sheer versatility would win out.

HelloDarlin · 04/03/2019 17:40

Carrots. Mashed with potato. My fave childhood meal.

Loyaultemelie · 04/03/2019 17:40

I'd find it so hard to choose but if I genuinely could only ever have one it'd be kale I love it stirfried with loads of garlic and nutritional yeast and also made crispy in the oven

limitedperiodonly · 04/03/2019 17:41

Peas

JRMisOdious · 04/03/2019 17:42

Beetroot. If that’s controversial (is it a fruit?), then Savoy cabbage.?
